The U.S. Post Office and Courthouse in Shreveport, Louisiana, was built in 1910. It was designed in Italian Renaissance architecture style by James K. Taylor and James A. Wetmore. It served historically as a courthouse and as a post office.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and became a contributing property of Shreveport Commercial Historic District at the time of its creation on March 11, 1982.In 1974 all federal offices vacated the building. It is currently a branch of the Shreve Memorial Library.

The Regions Tower (Regions Bank), formerly AmSouth Tower and before that the Commercial National Bank tower, is a high-rise in Shreveport, Louisiana in the United States. Standing 365 feet (111 meters) tall and containing 25 floors, it is the tallest building in northern Louisiana. It was built in 1986 as the CNB Tower, adjacent to the bank's older building and connected to it by a common lobby. It is currently owned by Plaza Investments II, LLC and managed by Sealy & Company, Inc. of Shreveport. Facilities include a café and concessions, a shoe shine service, and a fitness facility for tenants only. It also includes a conference facility that seats up to 200.

Shreveport ( SHREEV-port) is a city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is the third-most populous city in Louisiana after New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The bulk of Shreveport is in Caddo Parish, of which it is the parish seat. It extends along the west bank of the Red River into neighboring Bossier Parish. The 2020 census tabulation for the city's population was 187,593, while the Shreveport–Bossier City metropolitan area had a population of 393,406.Shreveport was founded in 1836 by the Shreve Town Company, a corporation established to develop a town at the juncture of the newly navigable Red River and the Texas Trail, an overland route into the newly independent Republic of Texas. It grew throughout the 20th century and, after the discovery of oil in Louisiana, became a national center for the oil industry. Standard Oil of Louisiana and United Gas Corporation were headquartered in the city until the 1960s and 1980s, respectively. After the loss of jobs in the oil industry, the closure of General Motors' Shreveport Operations, and other economic problems, it struggled with a declining population, poverty, drugs, and violent crime. However, the city continues in its efforts to revitalize its infrastructure, revive the economy through diversification, and lower crime. Despite these efforts, the city witnessed the largest number of homicides in its recorded history in 2021, eclipsing the previous record set in 1993.Shreveport is the educational, commercial and cultural center of the Ark-La-Tex region, where Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas meet. It is the location of Centenary College of Louisiana, Louisiana State University Shreveport, Louisiana Tech University Shreveport, Southern University at Shreveport, and Louisiana Baptist University. It forms part of the I-20 Cyber Corridor linking Shreveport to Dallas and Atlanta. Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Shreveport, Louisiana was built in 1896. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The current structure is the third church, with the first being constructed in 1856 by Fr. Jean Pierre, who became the first pastor. During the city's Yellow Fever epidemic of 1873, Fr. Jean Pierre and his assistant pastor, Fr. Isidore Quemerais, both gave their lives while caring for the sick and dying.The church also became a contributing property of Shreveport Commercial Historic District when its boundaries were increased on April 29, 2015.

The Strand Theatre in Shreveport, Louisiana, United States, opened in 1925 as a Vaudeville venue and was nicknamed "The greatest theatre of the South" and the "Million Dollar Theatre" by its builders, Julian and Abraham Saenger of Shreveport, owners of the Saenger Amusements Company, which operated theaters throughout the American South and in Central America. By the 1940s it had evolved into a movie cinema, which it remained until its closure in 1977. Threatened with demolition, it was saved by a coalition of concerned citizens who restored it to its original grandeur over a nearly seven-year period. It is the "Official State Theatre of Louisiana". Since its re-opening in 1984 following restoration it has served as a performing arts venue, featuring the Shreveport Broadway Series and other traveling Off-Broadway shows. In 1977, the theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It also became a contributing property of Shreveport Commercial Historic District when its boundaries were increased on May 16, 1997.

Cotton Street runs along the south side of Downtown Shreveport. One of the oldest gay bars in Louisiana, the Korner Lounge, has been continuously operating since the late 1930s at the corner of Cotton and Louisiana Avenue. On Marshall Street near the terminus of Cotton Street is the largest of Shreveport's gay and lesbian bars, Central Station. This club is located in the Central Railroad Station of Shreveport, built in 1909, and features a country and western bar, a dance club, a video bar, and a drag queen showroom upstairs.

Shreveport Union Station was a passenger station on Louisiana Avenue, at Lake Street, Shreveport, Louisiana. Built in 1897 by the Kansas City, Shreveport & Gulf Terminal Company, it was the oldest of Shreveport's four passenger railroad stations. With a tall tower, the station became a landmark in downtown Shreveport. It had its highest levels of service in the 1920s, typically hosting 35 passenger trains a day.As a union station, it was served by trains of the Kansas City Southern Railway, Illinois Central, St. Louis Southwestern Railway (Cotton Belt), and Southern Pacific.

The RiverView Theater is a theater located in RiverView Park in Shreveport, Louisiana. It serves as the home of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Shreveport Opera and Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet.

First Methodist Church is a historic Methodist church in Shreveport, Louisiana, United States. Founded in 1845 as a congregation of the Methodist Episcopal Church, it moved to its current site in 1883 and built its current building in 1913. In the split in the denomination before the American Civil War, this congregation became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. It later affiliated with The Methodist Church, before joining the United Methodist Church in 1967. In 2023, it voted to leave the United Methodist Church. On July 9, 2023, it was announced, through the homepage of the church's website, that the congregation had voted by a 96% margin to affiliate with the Global Methodist Church.Originally a small, frontier church serviced by circuit rider preachers, First United Methodist Church is today one of the largest in Shreveport. By the mid-20th century, it had 5,000 members. Today it has more than 1,000. The church has been led by notable clergy such as Samuel Armstead, a future state legislator, William Angie Smith, a future bishop, D. L. Dykes Jr., and James W. Moore. In addition, many notable people have been associated with the church, including state politicians such as William Pike Hall Sr., Rupert Peyton, Keith M. Pyburn, Lonnie O. Aulds, and Barrow Peacock.

The Central Fire Station in Shreveport, Louisiana, at 801 Crockett St., was built in 1922. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. The listing included two contributing buildings.It is a two-story stuccoed brick building. It has Beaux Arts styling including "a watertable composed of green glazed bricks surmounted by a cast concrete band and a series of prominent cartouches mounted at the entablature level along the main facade and on the building's corners."A second contributing resource on the property is a five-story hose tower.It was designed by architect Clarence W. King and built by contractor W.H. Werner.It has hosted the Shreveport Regional Arts Council. It is also a contributing property of the Shreveport Commercial Historic District since its first boundary increase on May 16, 1997.
