Petty Harbour–Maddox Cove

The Petty Harbour Hydro Electric Generating Station is a hydroelectric generating station in Petty Harbour–Maddox Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador. It was constructed in 1898 and it was the first hydroelectric generating station in Newfoundland. It was built by the St. John's Street Railway Company, a company established by Robert Reid. Operation commenced on 19 April 1900. In 1920 Reid renamed the company the St. John's Light and Power Company. On 7 February 1921, an avalanche destroyed 23 m (75 ft) of the wooden penstock that carried water from the dam to the generating station, cutting off all electrical power to St. John's for almost five days. Then, in 1924, the plant changed ownership to the Royal Securities Corporation of Montreal, where they began extensive reconstruction of the plant and watershed area. On 1 May 1978, the plant was entered in the Canadian Engineering Heritage Record as a model reflecting progressive adaptation to emerging technology, and remains today as one of the few plants of its type still in active service.

The Newfoundland School for the Deaf was a provincial school in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador with both residential and day programs serving deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The school taught both elementary and secondary students. Student population was approximately 10 students in the senior school and 20 in the elementary school, total is 30 students. Deaf students from Canada often attend Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., and Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. In August 2010, it was announced that the school would be closing as there would be no students attending in the upcoming school year, and none projected within the next five years; all the students in the province who were deaf or hard-of-hearing were in the public school system.

Kilbride is a neighbourhood in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Kilbride was once a village located southwest of St. John's. The Way Office was established in 1889 and the first Waymaster was Edward Morris. It had Canadian Post status on May 30, 1891. The population was 438 in 1940 and 121 in 1956. Kilbride and the Goulds are served hourly by Metrobus Routes 18 and 25.

The General Protestant Cemetery is an historic cemetery located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. It is located on the side of the shallow Waterford River valley and is bounded on the upper (north) side by Old Topsail Road and on the lower side by Waterford Bridge Road.

Victoria Park is a Victorian-era urban park located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador and named for Queen Victoria. The park has street frontage on Water Street, Sudbury Street, Hamilton Avenue (formerly Pokeham Path), and Angel Place, and occupies most of the block bounded by Water Street, Sudbury Street, Hamilton Avenue, Alexander Street.

Admiralty House is a one-storey, wooden gable-roofed, municipally-designated heritage building originally built as a wireless communications station in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It currently serves as a museum and archives. The building is purported to be the last standing of 11 such identical stations built around the world during the First World War.
