Gromford Meadow

Gromford is a small village in Suffolk, England, just north of Snape along the Gromford Lane.

Snape Priory was a priory in Suffolk, England. It was founded as a cell of the Benedictine St John's Abbey, Colchester in Essex.Cardinal Wolsey obtained a Papal Bull for the suppression of this house in 1527–28, towards his foundation of The King's School, Ipswich. After Wolsey's attainder and fall, the priory site and its possessions were granted to Thomas, Duke of Norfolk in 1532.

Snape is a small village in the English county of Suffolk, on the River Alde close to Aldeburgh. At the 2011 census the population was 611. In Anglo-Saxon England, Snape was the site of an Anglo-Saxon ship burial. Snape is now best known for Snape Maltings, no longer in commercial use, but converted into a tourist centre together with a concert hall that hosts the major part of the annual Aldeburgh Festival.

Snape Maltings Concert Hall is an arts complex on the banks of the River Alde at Snape, Suffolk, England. It is best known as one of the main sites of the annual Aldeburgh Festival. It is now one of two headquarters for Britten Pears Arts, with the other being The Red House. The original purpose of the Maltings was the malting of barley for the brewing of beer; local barley, once malted, was sent from here to London and exported to mainland Europe. Today a collection of shops, galleries, restaurants and the Concert Hall fill the old buildings. The Alde estuary is known for wildlife and river trips.

The Aldeburgh Festival of Music and the Arts is an English arts festival devoted mainly to classical music. It takes place each June in the town of Aldeburgh, Suffolk and is centred on Snape Maltings Concert Hall.

Snape Marshes is a 19.8-hectare (49-acre) nature reserve south-east of Snape in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.The diverse habitats in this reserve include reed-filled marshes, dry heath and mature oak woodland. It has all four reptiles found in the county, adders, common lizards, grass snakes and slowworms. Birds include barn owls, hobbies and marsh harriers, and freshwater dykes provide a habitat for otters.The Sailors' Path from Snape to Aldeburgh goes through the site, but there is only access to footpaths.

Iken Wood is a 5.3-hectare (13-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Snape in Suffolk. It is in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.This is probably the only ancient coppice wood on blown sand in Britain. Massive oak standards are dominant, and there are stools with a diameter of 3 metres (10 feet). Other trees include silver birch, holly and rowan.The site is private land with no public access.

Blaxhall Common is a nature reserve in the parish of Blaxhall in the East Suffolk District of Suffolk. The reserve is owned by Blaxhall Parish Council and managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust. It is designated a 45.9-hectare (113-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest as Blaxhall Heath. It is part of the Sandlings Special Protection Area under the European Union Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds, and of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A Bronze Age bowl barrow is a Scheduled Monument.

The Sandlings Walk is a long-distance path in Suffolk, England. It runs 91.6km through the Suffolk Sandling that used to stretch from the outskirts of Ipswich to Southwold which is an area of lowland heath, Britain's rarest wildlife habitat, and the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Starting on the outskirts of Ipswich (trailheads at 52.0620°N 1.2053°E / 52.0620; 1.2053 (Sandlings Walk (Ipswich trailhead)), 52.0548°N 1.2022°E / 52.0548; 1.2022 (Sandlings Walk (Ipswich trailhead)), and 52.0420°N 1.1985°E / 52.0420; 1.1985 (Sandlings Walk (Ipswich trailhead))), the route passes through Rushmere Common, Sutton Heath, Rendlesham Forest, Butley Corner, Tunstall Forest, Friston, North Warren, Thorpeness, Sizewell, Minsmere, Dunwich Heath, Dunwich Forest, the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve and Southwold (trailhead at 52.3231°N 1.6772°E / 52.3231; 1.6772 (Sandlings Walk (Southwold trailhead))).

Benhall Green is a village in Suffolk, England. Benhall Green has a ford over the Fromus - which can be treacherous during heavy rains - and several protected wildlife sites, including the Wadd. The village also has a St Mary's Benhall Primary school, rated excellent by Ofsted [1], a new wooden play area, swings and slides, a phone box, and a noticeboard. There is a small farm shop on the A12 just outside the village, the Railway Farm Shop. In the village is a cottage built in 1698 with distinctive pargeting.

The Snape Anglo-Saxon Cemetery is a place of burial dated to the 6th century AD located on Snape Common, near to the town of Aldeburgh in Suffolk, Eastern England. Dating to the early part of the Anglo-Saxon Era of English history, it contains a variety of different forms of burial, with inhumation and cremation burials being found in roughly equal proportions. The site is also known for the inclusion of a high status ship burial. A number of these burials were included within burial mounds. The first recorded excavation of the site was conducted by antiquarians in 1827, with a later, more thorough investigation taking place in 1862 under the control of landowner Septimus Davidson. Artefacts from the earliest excavations soon disappeared, although important finds uncovered from the 1862 excavation included a glass claw beaker and the Snape Ring, now housed in The British Museum, London. During the 20th century, the heathland that the cemetery was on was given over to farmland, with a road and house being constructed atop the site. Today, the burial mounds themselves are not accessible to the public, although the artefacts uncovered by the excavation are on display at the Aldeburgh Museum in the nearby coastal town of Aldeburgh.

Sternfield is a village in Suffolk, England. It is located 1 mile (2 km) south of Saxmundham, its post town. The village is very small and irregularly built, and is wholly agricultural. The village contains a church dedicated to Mary Magdalene. It is Grade II* listed for its surviving medieval work, notably the south porch and tower.During the 1960s and 1970s Lt. Col. Sir Eric and Lady Penn lived at Sternfield House, a large house next to the church with extensive gardens and as Sir Eric was the comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain's Office and a trusted presence in Buckingham Palace, senior members of the royal family came and stayed at Sternfield House on a number of occasions. Princess Margaret came most often, but the Queen also came at least once and attended St Mary Magdalene's, as did the Queen Mother. Another notable property is Sternfield Hall, with its classic Georgian soft red brick facade and late 16th-century wing which is probably the site of a medieval manor house where on 27 April 1385, a licence to crenellate at Sternefeld (Sternfield) was granted to Sir Michael de la Pole by Richard II in year eight of his reign.
