Manteno State Hospital (formerly Manteno State Mental Hospital) was a psychiatric hospital located in rural Manteno Township in Kankakee County, Illinois.

Manteno Township is one of seventeen townships in Kankakee County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2010 census, its population was 11,185 and it contained 4,525 housing units. It was formed from Rockville Township on March 12, 1855.

It is owned and operated by the Bible Broadcasting Network and it carries a Christian talk and teaching radio format. National religious leaders heard on WYHI include Chuck Swindoll, Joni Eareckson Tada, Adrian Rogers and J. Vernon McGee. The station is listener-supported and seeks donations on the air. WYHI has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 50,000 watts, the maximum for most Illinois stations. The transmitter is on West County Line Road in Peotone, near Interstate 57.

Saint George is an unincorporated community in Kankakee County, Illinois, United States. It was one of several populated places in the area settled largely by Metis and French Canadians in the 1840s.

Sumner Township is one of seventeen townships in Kankakee County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2010 census, its population was 910 and it contained 337 housing units. It was formed as Union Township from part of Yellow Head Township on October 8, 1855; its name changed to Sumner Township on June 27, 1856.

Peotone () is a village in Will County, Illinois, United States. The population was 4,142 at the 2010 census, an increase from 3,385 in 2000. The city is about 43 miles (69 km) south of Chicago. The village is home to the Peotone High School Blue Devils.

The Peotone Mill, formerly known as the Rathje Mill, is located in the village of Peotone, Illinois, which is in Will County, Illinois, United States. The mill was donated to the Village of Peotone in the early 1980s. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as the Will County Register of Historic Places.

Manteno is a village in Kankakee County, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,210 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Kankakee-Bourbonnais-Bradley Metropolitan Statistical Area.

On March 15, 1999, Amtrak's southbound City of New Orleans passenger train collided with a semi-trailer truck in the village of Bourbonnais, Illinois, United States. Most of the train derailed, killing eleven people. A National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation into the accident attributed the cause to the truck driver trying to beat the train across a grade crossing. The NTSB's recommendations from the accident included increased enforcement of grade crossing signals, the installation of train event recorders at all new or improved grade crossings, and procedures to provide emergency responders with accurate lists of all crew members and passengers aboard trains. The city of Bourbonnais erected a memorial near the site to commemorate those killed in the accident.
