WKCC also aired a variety of jazz and blues programs on weekends, some of which were locally produced.WKCC ceased local broadcast operations on Friday evening, December 18, 2015, at the conclusion of a special, final episode of In a Mellow Tone, hosted by Willie Dixon, Jr. – on the occasion of his 400th show. Chicago Public Media announced that it would purchase ownership rights for the WKCC 91.1 FM broadcast license. WBEZ's programming is now simulcast on WKCC, extending WBEZ's reach to an additional audience of more than 200,000 potential listeners in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties.Chicago Public Media's purchase of the station from Kankakee Community College was consummated on April 28, 2016, at a price of $250,000. On May 6, 2016, the station changed its call sign to WBEK.

Olivet Nazarene University (ONU) is a private Nazarene university in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Named for its founding location, Olivet, Illinois, ONU was originally established as a grammar school in east-central Illinois in 1907. In the late 1930s, it moved to the campus in Bourbonnais. The university is affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene and is the annual site of the church's Regional Celebrate Life youth gathering for the Central USA Region.

St. Viator College was a Catholic liberal arts college in Bourbonnais, Illinois. It is no longer in operation. Today, the site is home to Olivet Nazarene University.

Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School is a comprehensive public four-year high school located in Bradley, Illinois. It is the only school in District 307. As of 2020 the school has an enrollment of 2,026 students. Bradley Bourbonnais offers a variety of AP classes. It serves the communities of Bradley, Bourbonnais, a portion of Kankakee as well as surrounding unincorporated areas. Its feeder districts are Bradley (61), Bourbonnais (53) and St. George (258) school districts. The student body is 71% White, 12% Hispanic, 11% Black, 2% Asian, 4% two or more races, 0.1% American Indian, and 0% Hawaiian Native/Pacific Islander. 29% of students are minorities. 37% of students were eligible for the Free Lunch Program and 6% for the Reduced-Price Lunch Program.About 900 students participate in interscholastic sports. The Bradley-Bourbonnais Boilermakers compete in the Southwest Suburban Conference and the Illinois High School Association. Sixty competitive teams in 24 sports. The superintendent is Dr. Matthew Vosberg.In 2020, U.S. News & World Report considered Bradley-Bourbonnais a silver level high school.

The Durham–Perry Farmstead is a park and open-air museum in Bourbonnais, Illinois on the grounds of the former Thomas Durham farm. The buildings reflect the agricultural practices of Illinois farmers in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The heavy timber-framed buildings are representative of northern Illinois construction trends between the 1830s and 1850s.
