Canton of Le Cannet

Le Cannet (French pronunciation: ​[lə kanɛ]; Occitan: Lo Canet; older Italian: Canneto) is a commune of the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France.

The Château Thorenc is a historic garden in Cannes, France. It was established in 1870 for the Duchess of Bedford, when a chateau was erected. It was acquired by Sir Richard Atwood Glass in 1876. It was subsequently purchased by the Duchess of Montrose, followed by Stuart Rendel, 1st Baron Rendel. It was purchased by Albert Neubauer in 1930. He hired architects Louis Süe and Léon Le Bel to re-design the chateau, while painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue designed the Venetian living-room. It was owned by Bảo Đại, the emperor of Annam, from 1937 to 1960. In 1968, the chateau was demolished and replaced with a residential building. Over the years, the garden designers were Mr Maria, followed by Lucien Lhotte, Denis Troncy and Jean-Baptiste Dental.

Communauté d'agglomération Cannes Pays de Lérins is the communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Cannes. It is located in the Alpes-Maritimes department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, southeastern France. It was created in January 2014. Its area is 94.8 km2. Its population was 158,111 in 2018, of which 73,965 in Cannes proper.

Château de Vie in Mougins, France was the final estate of Pablo Picasso. Pablo Picasso lived at Château de Vie (then known as Mas Notre Dame de Vie) until his death in 1973. During his time at the house he produced over $3.5 billion in art that included some of his most important works.In addition to Picasso, some of the world's most extraordinary people visited the estate. They included Winston Churchill, authors F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, artist Salvador Dalí, and iconic entertainers as diverse as Charlie Chaplin, Édith Piaf and the Rolling Stones.

The Ecole Supérieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower (formerly Centre de Danse International Rosella Hightower) is a dance school created by the prima ballerina Rosella Hightower in 1961 in Cannes, on the French Riviera. The school is currently a very important dance training center in ballet, contemporary dance and modern jazz.

The Moulin de Mougins is a celebrated restaurant in France, situated in a 16th-century mill (moulin) in the inland French Riviera town of Mougins. Founding chef Roger Vergé made the restaurant's name renowned with his novel and light Cuisine de Soleil. The Moulin is technically classified as an auberge or inn, as it has a couple of guest rooms. As of 30 August 2009, the Moulin was rated four "knives and forks" in the Michelin Guide.Following the retirement of Vergé, the Moulin was taken over by Alain Llorca, who had been head chef at the Michelin-starred Chantecler dining room in the Hotel Negresco in Nice. In March 2009, Sébastien Chambru, who worked at the 'Restaurant Paul Bocuse' near Lyon, became the Chef des Cuisines at the Moulin.In 1977, the famed French chef Alain Ducasse worked as an assistant at the Moulin de Mougins, where he learned the Provençal cooking methods for which he later became renowned. In 2013, Sébastien Chambru left the restaurant and it is no longer operating.

The Cimetière du Grand Jas (Grand Jas Cemetery) is located at 205 avenue de Grasse in Cannes on the French Riviera. The nine hectare terraced cemetery began operations in 1866 and is known for its landscaped architecture with rich floral decorations and statuary. Its "English square", or Cimetière Anglais, is the final resting place for a number of English people who made Cannes their home. It is dominated by the statue of Henry Peter Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux who played a major role in building the city. The cemetery contains one Commonwealth war grave, of a World War I officer of the King's Royal Rifle Corps.

Cannes station or Cannes-Voyageurs (French: Gare de Cannes) is the main railway station for the French Southern city of Cannes. It is situated on the Marseille–Ventimiglia railway.

The Eurovision Song Contest 1959 was the fourth edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest, held on Wednesday 11 March 1959 at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France, and hosted by French television presenter Jacqueline Joubert. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (RTF), the contest, originally known as the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson Européenne 1959 (English: Grand Prix of the Eurovision Song Contest 1959), was held in France following the country's victory at the 1958 contest with the song "Dors, mon amour", performed by André Claveau. In total eleven countries participated in the contest, with Monaco making its first appearance and the United Kingdom returning after their absence the previous year. Luxembourg, however, decided not to participate after competing in all former editions. The winner was the Netherlands with the song "Een beetje", performed by Teddy Scholten, composed by Dick Schallies and written by Willy van Hemert. This was the Netherlands' second victory in the contest, having also won in 1957, and also marked the first time a country had won the contest more than once. Van Hemert also became the first individual to win twice, having also written the first Dutch winning song from 1957, "Net als toen". The United Kingdom placed second, marking the first of a record sixteen times that the country would go on to finish as contest runners-up, while France placed third.

The Eurovision Song Contest 1961 was the 6th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. Once again, the contest was held in the French seaside city of Cannes, having also hosted the 1959 edition. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (RTF), the contest was again held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on Saturday 18 March 1961, becoming the first contest to take place on a Saturday evening, a tradition that has continued ever since (with the exception of 1962). The show was directed by Marcel Cravenne and again hosted by Jacqueline Joubert, who had also hosted in 1959.Sixteen countries participated in the contest - three more than in the previous edition; Finland, Spain and Yugoslavia all competed for the first time this year. The winner was Luxembourg with the song "Nous les amoureux", performed by Jean-Claude Pascal, written by Maurice Vidalin, and composed by Jacques Datin, with the United Kingdom finishing in second place for the third consecutive year.

The Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes is a historic luxury hotel on the Croisette in Cannes, built in 1926. It belongs to the Lucien Barrière group. It is a traditional hotel for film stars attending the Cannes Festival.

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (formerly the International Advertising Festival) is a global event for those working in creative communications, advertising, and related fields. It is considered the largest gathering of the advertising and creative communications industry.The five-day festival, incorporating the awarding of the Lions awards, is held yearly at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France. During the last week of June, around 15,000 registered delegates from 90 countries visit the Festival to celebrate the best of creativity in brand communication, discuss industry issues, and network with one another. The week's activities include multiple award ceremonies as well as an opening and closing gala.
