Sonoda Station

St.Thomas University, Japan (聖トマス大学, Sei tomasu daigaku), formerly known as Sapientia University or Eichi University (英知大学, Eichi daigaku), was a Christian private university in Amagasaki, Hyogo, Japan. The school was founded in 1962 as a junior college and became a four-year college in the following year. The name "St. Thomas University" was adopted in 2007. The university stopped enrolling new students in 2010 and, after its last remaining student graduated in 2014, announced its closure and revealed its intention to donate its facilities to the city of Amagasaki.

Osaka College of Music (大阪音楽大学, Ōsaka ongaku daigaku) is a private university in Toyonaka, Osaka, Japan. The predecessor of the school was established as a university in 1958.

Mizuho no Kuni Elementary School (瑞穂の國記念小學院, Mizuho no Kuni Kinenshōgakuin) was going to be a private elementary school to be opened in Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture. Its backing corporation has been described as ″ultra-nationalist″. Akie Abe, wife of prime minister Shinzō Abe, was honorary principal but resigned after it was revealed that the school had bought land from the government at only 14% of its real value.

The Amagasaki derailment (JR福知山線脱線事故, JR Fukuchiyama-sen dassen jiko, lit. "JR Fukuchiyama Line derailment") occurred in Amagasaki, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, on 25 April 2005 at 09:19 local time (00:19 UTC), just after the local rush hour. It occurred when a seven-car commuter train came off the tracks on West Japan Railway Company's (JR West) Fukuchiyama Line in just before Amagasaki on its way for Dōshisha-mae via the JR Tōzai Line and the Gakkentoshi Line, and the front two cars rammed into an apartment building. The first car slid into the first-floor parking garage and as a result took days to remove, while the second slammed into the corner of the building, being crushed into an L-shaped against it by the weight of the remaining cars. Of the roughly 700 passengers (initial estimate was 580 passengers) on board at the time of the crash, 106 passengers, in addition to the driver, were killed and 562 others injured. Most survivors and witnesses claimed that the train appeared to have been travelling too fast. The incident was Japan's most serious since the 1963 Tsurumi rail accident.

Amagasaki Station (尼崎駅, Amagasaki-eki) is a railway station on the Tōkaidō Main Line (JR Kōbe Line), Fukuchiyama Line (JR Takarazuka Line) and JR Tōzai Line of West Japan Railway Company (JR West), located in Amagasaki, Hyōgo, Japan. Until 1997, Amagasaki was only a local stop, but it has since become a major junction with the opening of the JR Tōzai Line. Today, all commuter trains and limited express trains bound for the Fukuchiyama Line stop here. Though Amagasaki is the official terminal of the Fukuchiyama Line and the JR Tōzai Line, all Fukuchiyama Line train services continue east to Osaka and beyond on the Tōkaidō Line or connect with the Gakkentoshi Line through the JR Tōzai Line. Tōzai Line trains continue west to Nishi-Akashi and beyond on the Tōkaidō Line, and Takarazuka and beyond on the Fukuchiyama Line. The station is referred to as "JR Amagasaki" to distinguish between the station and Amagasaki Station operated by Hanshin Electric Railway. While these two stations are situated relatively close to each other, passengers transferring between these two stations must take buses to transfer between trains.
