Saint-Nicolas (French pronunciation: ​[sɛ̃ nikɔla]; Walloon: Sint-Nicolai-dlé-Lidje) is a municipality of Wallonia located ine the province of Liège, Belgium. It is effectively a part of the greater Liège conurbation stretching west from Liège city centre towards Liège Airport. As of January 1, 2006 Saint-Nicolas had a total population of 22,666. The total area is 6.84 km2 which gives a population density of 3,313 inhabitants per km2. It has the highest population density of any Belgian municipality outside the Brussels-Capital Region. Since 1977 the municipality consists of the following districts: Montegnée, Saint-Nicolas, and Tilleur.

Glain (French pronunciation: [ɡlɛ̃]; Walloon: Glin-dlé-Lidje) is a sub-municipality of the city of Liège located in the province of Liège, Wallonia, Belgium. The former municipality of Glain was formed on 31 December 1874, when it was detached from the municipality of Ans-et-Glain. On 1 January 1977, it was merged into Liège.

The Arrondissement of Liège (French: Arrondissement de Liège; Dutch: Arrondissement Luik) is one of the four administrative arrondissements in the Walloon province of Liège, Belgium. It is both an administrative and a judicial arrondissement. However, the Judicial Arrondissement of Liège also comprises the municipalities of Berloz, Crisnée, Donceel, Faimes, Fexhe-le-Haut-Clocher, Geer, Oreye, Remicourt and Waremme in the Arrondissement of Waremme. The municipality of Comblain-au-Pont, even though it is a part of the Administrative Arrondissement of Liège, is not a part of the Judicial Arrondissement of Liège, but of the Judicial Arrondissement of Huy.

Naimette-Xhovémont (French pronunciation: ​[nɛmɛt (h)ɔvemɔ̃]) is a quarter in the district of Saint Walburga within the city of Liège, Wallonia, located in the province of Liège, Belgium. It is situated south-east of the river Meuse, on its left bank. The area is sometimes called the Montmartre of Liège because of the vibrant life on the steep cobbled streets, plus magnificent gardens which are sometimes open to the public. The sports complex of Liège Province is located on the hill and is used by RFC Athletics and Rugby RFC Liège. A second rugby stadium is scheduled for completion in late summer 2014. The name of the neighbourhood inspired the giant Xhovémont mascot of RFC Liège Rugby.

The Collège Saint-Servais is a Catholic school in Liège (Belgium). Founded in 1828, it revived the educational tradition of the suppressed Collège en Isle. When it became co-educational in 1992, it was renamed the Collège Saint-Benoît Saint-Servais. The pedagogy of the collège is Jesuit, as based on their Ratio studiorum, although most of the teachers are now lay-people.

St Martin's Basilica (French - basilique Saint-Martin) in Liège, is a Roman Catholic church situated on the Publémont hill in the city centre. It was initially built as a Romanesque structure in the 10th century, which in 1246 held the first celebration of an annual 'Fête-Dieu', the festival later known as Corpus Christi. This structure was replaced by a Gothic building in the 16th century. Up until the Liège Revolution it was one of the seven collegiate churches of Liège. In 1846, the church commissioned composer Felix Mendelssohn's Lauda Sion, Op. 43 to celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi's 600th anniversary. In 1886 it was promoted to the rank of minor basilica.

The Church of St John the Evangelist (French: église Saint-Jean l'Evangéliste) in the city of Liège, Belgium, was founded as a collegiate church by Notker of Liège around 980, and consecrated in 987. It was the place of Notker's tomb. The church was suppressed in 1797 during the French Revolution, the building being confiscated and sold in 1798. On 23 March 1879, Pope Leo XIII canonically crowned the statue of Saint Joseph (1757) within this shrine, in honor of the 200th anniversary of the request by King Charles II of Spain to Pope Innocent XI to consecrate Belgium to Saint Joseph. The coronation feast also coincided with the 203rd anniversary of Diocese of Liege by request of Emperor Leopold I in 1676 and approved by Pope Clement X. The notarized Pontifical decree was received by Bishop of Liege, Victor Doutreloux. It is now located and enshrined at the private side chapel of Saint Joseph. Originally an octagonal building in Mosan Romanesque style, incorporating elements of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the church was completely rebuilt in a late Baroque style in 1754–1784. It has been in use as a parish church since 1809, and has been listed as a monument since 1952. The church maintained a library from 1388.The Renaissance composer Johannes Brassart was closely associated with the church.

Liège (French: [ljɛʒ] (listen); Walloon: Lîdje [liːtʃ]; Dutch: Luik [lœyk] (listen); German: Lüttich [ˈlʏtɪç] (listen)) is the easternmost province of the Wallonia region of Belgium. Liège Province is the only Belgian province that has borders with three countries. It borders (clockwise from the north) the Dutch province of Limburg, the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, the Luxembourgish canton of Clervaux, the Belgian Walloon (French-speaking) provinces of Luxembourg, Namur and Walloon Brabant and the Belgian Flemish (Dutch-speaking) provinces of Flemish Brabant and Limburg. Part of the eastern-most area of the province, bordering Germany, is the German-speaking region of Eupen-Malmedy, which became part of Belgium in the aftermath of World War I. The capital and the largest city of the province is the city of the same name, Liège. The province has an area of 3,857 km2 (1,489 sq mi), and a population of 1,106,992 as of January 2019.

On 29 May 2018, Benjamin Herman, a prisoner on temporary leave from prison, stabbed two female police officers, took their guns, shot and killed them and a civilian in Liège, Belgium. The gunman took a woman hostage before he was killed by police. The attacker had since 2017 been suspected of having been radicalised in prison after converting to Islam, and was reported to be part of the entourage of a prison Islamist recruiter. The method of the attack was said by investigators to match and be specifically encouraged by the Islamic State which claimed the attack. Prosecutors say they are treating the attacks as "terrorist murder". The attack is treated as "jihadist terrorism" by Europol.

The Académie royale des beaux-arts de Liège is the academy of fine arts of the Belgian city of Liège. The art academy was first established in 1775 by prince-bishop François-Charles de Velbrück, and was led initially by Guillaume Évrard and later by Léonard Defrance. The prince-bishop's academy was closed in the French period, and under the United Kingdom of the Netherlands the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp was given a monopoly on certifying art teachers.: 243  In the wake of the Belgian Revolution, the city of Liège refounded an academy of fine arts in 1837, under the patronage of the Belgian crown.: 243  By 1890 there were 650 students enrolled, with another 400 studying at the École Saint-Luc, making Liège a significant centre of art education.: 243  In 1898 the alumni association started publishing the art journal L'Effort.: 244 In 1976, a course on drawing comics was instituted in the evening section.: 269 The academy was originally established in a former beguinage, the Hospice Saint-Abraham, but in 1895 moved to a purpose-built Renaissance Revival structure on Rue des Anglais, designed by Joseph Lousberg.

Sclessin (French pronunciation: [sklesɛ̃]) is a quarter of the city of Liège located in the province of Liège, Wallonia, Belgium. Before the fusion of the Belgian municipalities in 1977, it was a quarter of the municipality of Ougrée. On 1 January 1977, it was merged into Liège. Sclessin has never been a municipality, but in some sources, Sclessin is mentioned as a "section" (sub-municipality).

The Stade Maurice Dufrasne (French pronunciation: ​[mɔʁis dyfʁan]) is a football stadium in Liège, Belgium. The stadium holds 27,670 people. It is also known as Stade de Sclessin, from the name of the district of Liège where it is located, and is the home stadium of Standard Liège. Belgium have also played here, notably against Estonia in September 2008 in a 2010 World Cup Qualifier and against Gibraltar on 31 August 2017 in a World Cup Qualifier. The stadium hosted one match at Euro 1972 and three matches at Euro 2000. The stadium's namesake, Maurice Dufrasne, was Chairman of Standard Liège from 1909 (when the stadium was built) until 1931. He was known to take players to his home and cook them a meal if they played well, especially at home fixtures.
