Burnsville–Eagan–Savage is an independent school district in the U.S. state of Minnesota; it serves the city of Burnsville and parts of the neighboring cities of Savage and Eagan.

360 Communities is a non-profit agency founded in 1970 by a group of volunteers. Administrative offices are located in Burnsville, Minnesota, United States. Its mission is to "deliver safety and stability that improves lives."

Burnsville Transit Station is a transit facility located in the vicinity of downtown Burnsville, Minnesota, and is the flagship station of the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA). The station is the busiest park and ride location in the Twin Cities region and offers approximately 1,400 parking spaces. It is also a major transfer hub for routes operating the south of the Minnesota River. The station has indoor climate-controlled waiting, restrooms, lost and found, drinking fountains, vending machines, Go-To card sales, newspaper racks, and transit information. Due to high park and ride demand, MVTA moved some service to the 370 space Heart of the City public ramp about a 1⁄2 mile (0.80 km) south in 2018. The Metropolitan Council's 2021 park-and-ride system report found 267 cars parked at the station compared to 1,116 in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.The Burnsville Heart of the City bus rapid transit station on the METRO Orange Line is located kitty-corner across Minnesota State Highway 13, about a 1⁄4 mile (400 m) away. Consideration was given to locating the Orange Line terminus at the MVTA station but the existing amount of buses and riders encouraged Metro Transit to locate the station elsewhere.

Burnsville Heart of the City is a bus rapid transit station along the Metro Orange Line and its southern terminal. The station is located at the corner of Minnesota State Highway 13 in the downtown of Burnsville, Minnesota. The station is located between Minnesota Valley Transit Authority's (MVTA) Burnsville Transit Station and Heart of the City Park and Ride, providing bus connections and park and ride capacity. Original plans considered the Orange Line's southern terminus at MVTA's Burnsville Transit Station, but Burnsville City Council supported a new station in their downtown district, Heart of the City, kitty-corner from the MVTA facility. During the planning of the Orange Line, the station was known as Travelers Trail and later Nicollet Avenue. In 2017, Burnsville City Council recommended Burnsville Heart of the City to provide a geographical reference to their downtown, as well as strengthening local identity. The station opened December 4, 2021 along with the rest of the Orange Line. Burnsville city officials hosted an opening day celebration at Nicollet Commons Park, one block south of the station. The Heart of the City municipal parking ramp will serve as a park-and-ride location for the station.The Heart of the City area is a New Urbanism area with some transit-oriented development and land use patterns that feature higher density, more walkable infrastructure, and mixed-use buildings. It serves as Burnsville's downtown and has been under development since 1990s. The development patterns of the district helped encourage Metro Transit to locate the station where it is. Several Heart of the City apartment buildings have advertised the station and Orange Line in marketing materials and developers cited the station's proximity as being attractive.

DTN, previously known as Telvent DTN, Data Transmission Network and Dataline, is a private company based in Burnsville, Minnesota that specializes in subscription-based services for the analysis and delivery of real-time weather, agricultural, energy, and commodity market information. As of 2018 the company has approximately 600,000 subscribers, mostly in the United States. DTN is known for its accurate meteorological forecasting and large network of weather stations, its market analysis services, and its early use of radio and satellite systems to transmit reports to its Midwestern consumers. DTN also operates The Progressive Farmer magazine. DTN was previously owned by Telvent and Schneider Electric, and since 2017 has been owned by Zurich-based TBG.

The Ames Center, formerly the Burnsville Performing Arts Center, is a performing arts venue in Burnsville, Minnesota, adjacent to Nicollet Commons Park, which features green space, water fountains, and a 250-seat outdoor performance amphitheater. The Ames Center features an eclectic range of performances on the main stage and the black box theatres including: dance, theatre, concerts, comedians, and written word. Past performances include the Girl Singers of the Hit Parade, Larry Carlton, Louie Anderson, Lori Lane, Richard Marx, Church Basement Ladies, Melissa Manchester, Bill Engvall, Nick Colionne, Celtic Crossroads, Twin Cities Ballet of Minnesota, Elizabeth Gilbert, Rob Lake, Tommy Emmanuel, Sinbad, Ralphie May, Dakota Valley Symphony, Chameleon Theater Circle, Miss Minnesota USA/Teen USA, and Cirque D’Or. Additionally, productions of Mame, A Christmas Carol and Peter Pan were presented utilizing sets created for the Kennedy Center, the Kodak Theatre and the original Cathy Rigby Broadway production respectively.

Burnsville ( BURNZ-vil) is a city 15 miles (24 km) south of downtown Minneapolis in Dakota County, Minnesota. The city is situated on a bluff overlooking the south bank of the Minnesota River, upstream from its confluence with the Mississippi River. Burnsville and nearby suburbs form the southern portion of Minneapolis–Saint Paul, the 16th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, with about 3.7 million residents. At the 2020 census the population was 64,317.Burnsville is home to a regional mall (Burnsville Center), a section of Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, 310-foot (94 m) vertical ski peak Buck Hill, and part of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Burnsville stands on land that once contained a village of Mdewakanton Dakota. Later, it became a rural Irish farming community. Burnsville became Minnesota's 14th-largest city in the 2020 census following the construction of Interstate 35. Now the ninth-largest suburb in the metro area and a bedroom community of both Minneapolis and Saint Paul, it was fully built by the late 2000s. Burnsville's downtown area is called Heart of the City with urban-style retail and condominiums. The Burnsville Transit Station serves as the hub and headquarters of the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority, providing regional bus service to five other suburbs. The name Burnsville is attributed to an early Irish settler and land owner, William Byrne. His surname was recorded as "Burns" and was never corrected.

Black Dog Lake is a lake in Dakota County, in the U.S. state of Minnesota.The lake was named for Black Dog, a Sioux Indian.

The Garage is a non-profit all-ages music venue in Burnsville, Minnesota, United States, a southern suburb of Minneapolis. It has been a launching point for local bands such as Down and Above, Dropping Daylight, Escape from Earth, Four Letter Lie, Quietdrive, Screaming Mechanical Brain, and The Autumn Cause.

The I-35W Minnesota River Bridge connects the counties of Hennepin and Dakota, and the cities of Bloomington and Burnsville, over the Minnesota River. The bridge has eight lanes, four lanes in each direction. Inner lanes are MnPass HOV lanes, and a walking/bicycling path is located on the east side of the northbound span. The bridge is 1,361 feet (415 m) long, and 170 feet (52 m) wide. This bridge replaced a seven-lane steel girder bridge, constructed in 1960 by the Minnesota Highway Department. When it was built, it replaced a former bridge, located just to the east of the current bridge site, that carried US 65. Approaches to the former bridge had issues with flooding, with a 1965 flood putting the causeway just south of the bridge completely underwater. MnPass lanes were added in 2009.

Nine Mile Creek is a stream in Hennepin County, Minnesota, in the United States. It is a tributary of the Minnesota River. Nine Mile Creek was named from its distance, nine miles (14 km) southwest of Fort Snelling where it crosses the (Old) Shakopee Road.

The Gideon H. Pond House is a historic house in Bloomington, Minnesota, United States. It is part of the Pond-Dakota Mission Park, which also includes the Oak Grove Mission site (1843–1852), a cemetery, and the remains of the Pond family farm and orchards. The site is significant within the history of the Minnesota River valley, the Dakota tribe, and Bloomington. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Gideon Hollister Pond (1810–1878) and his brother Samuel came to Minnesota with a mission to teach Christianity to the Indians and to teach them agriculture. The Ponds received permission in 1834 from Major Lawrence Taliaferro, the Indian agent at Fort Snelling, to establish a mission school near Bde Maka Ska (Lake Calhoun), where a band of Dakota spent their summers. Pond started work on writing a Dakota language dictionary. After a war broke out between the Dakota and the Ojibwa in 1839, the band of Dakota moved to a village near the Minnesota River, and Gideon Pond moved with them. He established a mission along the river bluffs. The area served as a mission between 1843 and 1852, when the Dakota were sent to a reservation further up the Minnesota River as a result of the Treaty of Traverse des Sioux. At that point, Pond bought this land and became a farmer. He also served as a member of Minnesota territorial House of Representatives 7th District, 1849–1850. Later, Pond started the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, which was originally located on land which is now the Bloomington Cemetery. The church later moved its building to the corner of Penn Avenue and Old Shakopee Road. The home, located at 401 East 104th Street in Bloomington, is constructed of red brick and features chimneys serving each room. The home was occupied by Gideon and his wife Sarah, and is now open to the public on a limited basis.
