Bert and John Hobbins House

The Shafer's Grocery and Residence is a commercial and residential building located at 1018 Emmet Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.Shafer's Grocery and Residence consists of two attached structures: the store and associated residence. The store is a single-story frame commercial structure with a central entrance between large glass windows. The store has a flat roof with a simple bracketed cornice. The walls of the structure are clad with asbestos shingles. The attached residence is a two-story gabled structure with a front porch running the full width of the house.The structure was built for the grocery business of Robert Shafer, who operated here in the late 19th century. By the 1930s, a used furniture business operated by Jennie Cross was located here.

It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The John Nyman House is a 1+1⁄2-story side-gable bungalow with wood shingle siding, a gabled dormer, and a front porch whose roof is a continuation of the main roof. The porch has four Doric piers. The main section of the house is rectangular, with a side bay and an octagonal porch bay extending out of the main footprint. Wooden brackets support the gables.The John Nyman House was constructed around the turn of the century. The Nymans lived in the house for several decades.

The Fourth Ward Polling Place was a municipal building located at 209 Washington Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The building is missing and presumed demolished. The Fourth Ward Polling Place was a single story, gable-roofed Classical Revival structure built of concrete block and faced with rock. The facade had a stepped parapet, an entrance on one side, and two windows. The side wall had three garage doors and another window.The building was constructed at some point just after 1907. The building served for many years as a polling place, and for other municipal uses.

The I. N. Debenham House is a private house located at 1101 Emmet Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The I. N. Debenham House is a 2+1⁄2-story frame Queen Anne structure with multiple gabled and hip roof bays. A single-story wing is attached at the rear. The house is covered with clapboards, with fishscale shingles ornamenting the gable ends. A single-story porch wraps around the facade, with an additional small porch on the second story. Both porches have turned decorative elements. The windows have a single pane on the bottom, with multi-light units above.The house was built some time before 1899. It is associated with I.N. Debenham, a carpenter who lived here around the turn of the century, and Benjamin Snatts, an inspector for the Michigan Telephone Company, who lived here after 1903.

The Elias Meyers House is a private house located at 912 Baxter Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The Elias Meyers House is a two-story front-gable Queen Anne structure. A single-story, hip roof entrance porch is attached to one side of the building, and a single-story wing extends from the porch to the rear of the house. Decorative turned elements on the porch and on the front gable are inspired by Eastlake designs. The gable also has diagonal sheathing boards. Windows in the house are one-over-one double-hung units with decorative cornices.The Elias Meyers House was constructed some time before 1899. It was associated with Elias Meyers, an employee and eventual foreman at the Forman & Curtis Flooring factory.

The front entrance is covered by a hip roof porch; a second, shed-roof porch is located at the rear wing. The building is covered with clapboard, and has four-over-four double-huung windows with pediment heads.The house was constructed in the late 19th century, and is associated with Frank Lesher, who lived here before 1917, and Richard Detcher, who purchased the house some time before 1926.

The Phillip Rehkopf House is a private house located at 918 Howard Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The Phillip Rehkopf House is a 2+1⁄2-story brick Queen Anne structure on a stone basement. It has an L-shaped plan, with the gabled short leg of the L extending toward the front. The gables are clad with wooden shingles. Gabled dormers pierce the roof, as does a small tower with an onion-like dome at one end of the facade. A single story porch supported by Doric columns runs across the facade; the porch and the house itself have classical cornices.It is likely that Phillip Rehkopf, a mason, built this house himself some time before the turn of the century. Phillip's wife Jane ran a rooming house here for many years.

The A. Malin House is a private house located at 54 Bridge Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The A. Malin House is a two-story frame Queen Anne house with an intersecting gable roof. A front gable faces the street and a shed roofed side porch covers two entrances. A rear porch fills the angle between the gables, and a single story addition projects to the rear. The windows are one-over-one units with simple cornices.The A. Malin House was constructed some time before 1899, when A. Malin lived here. By 1903, Robert Kepsel and Peter Myers, a laborer, live in the house. Charles Rice, a cook, moved in by 1917 and lived here until at least 1926.

The George McManus House is a private house located at 121 State Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The George McManus House is a 2+1⁄2-story Colonial Revival house with a hipped roof and a single-story addition in the rear. Each side of the roof has gabled dormers containing Palladian window units. The building is sheathed in clapboard, and has corner pilasters and a cornice on top. The front facade has an entry porch with Ionic columns. The windows have multiple vertical panes with a single-pane light on top.The George McManus House was constructed c. 1910 for Geaorge McManus, the President of the Petoskey Garage and Sales Company, and of W.L. McManus Lumber Company. The house marries the basic Colonial Revival design with elements from the Prairie School.

The Petoskey Grocery Company Building, also known as the George T. Zipp Lumber Company Building, is a commercial building located at 616 Petoskey Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.The Zipp Lumber Company Building is a three-story brick Queen Anne commercial structure built on a trapezoidal plan, with pedimented dormers and a hipped roof. The trapezoidal plan accommodates the irregular lot adjacent to the railroad tracks. The walls are paneled to simulate pilasters. Windows are one-over-one wood framed units.The building was first occupied by the Petoskey Grocery Company, which was incorporated in 1900. In 1917, the George T. Zipp Lumber Company moved into the building. Zipp Lumber occupied the building for many years. After they vacated the building, it was refurbished into the Emmet County Professional Office Building.

New Life Anglican Church is an Anglican parish located in a historic church building at 219 State Street in Petoskey, Michigan. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 under the name Trinity Evangelical Church.
