Corio Bay

North Shore railway station is located on the Warrnambool line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Geelong suburbs of North Shore and Norlane, and it opened on 15 April 1895. It was renamed Corio on 27 September 1909, and was renamed North Shore on 1 December 1913.

The Geelong Maritime Museum is a volunteer-run Community group or not-for-profit historical museum located at 'The Stables', Osborne House, Swinburn Street, North Geelong Victoria, Australia since 1993. The Museum was founded in about 1989, with ex Royal Navy Ldg. Tel, Robert Henry (Bob) Appleton OAM as the foundation Honorary Curator. The Museum collects and displays historic artefacts and documents related to the Maritime History of geelong and Victoria, and the history of the Victorian and Australian Navy's. The Geelong Maritime Museum is housed in the renovated stables of Osborne House, which was built in 1858 for local squatter, Robert Muirhead. Following a number of private owners, the building was the purchased by the Victorian State Government in 1900 as country residence for the Governor of Victoria, but never used for this purpose. Instead, it was bought by the Geelong Harbour Trust in 1905, and subsequently became the first Australian Naval College from 1913 to 1915, a military hospital during the World War One, and the first home for the J Class Submarine of the Royal Australian Navy's submarine service between 1919 and 1924. The Geelong Harbour Trust resumed control in 1929, and the Shire of Corio moved in during 1938. It was a training centre for the army during World War Two, followed by the Corio Shire Council from 1943 to 1995 when the shire merged with the City of Geelong.Displays at the museum include scale models of ships that either visited Geelong or called the port home and relics of the trade and navigation, as well as uniforms, weaponry and other naval artefacts. Exhibitions also presents the HMVS Cerberus Gun Turret and the helm of the HMVS Nelson.

North Shore is an industrial and residential suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The suburb overlooks Corio Bay. A small residential area is east of the North Shore railway station with a few neighbourhood shops. The suburb is bounded by the Melbourne to Warrnambool railway line to the west, St Georges Road to the north, Corio Bay to the east, and Cowies Creek to the south.

Norlane is a northern suburb of Geelong, in Victoria, Australia. Norlane is bordered in the south by Cowies Creek, in the north by Cox Road, in the west by Thompson Road and in the east by Station Street. It is about 7 km from the Geelong central business district and approximately 70 km from the state capital, Melbourne. It is about one kilometre from the shore of Corio Bay. At the 2016 census, Norlane had a population of 8,306.

North Geelong railway station is located on the Warrnambool line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Geelong suburb of North Geelong, and opened on 1 August 1883 as West Geelong. It was renamed North Geelong on 1 January 1886.The station is on the Geelong side of the junction of the Ballarat and Melbourne lines. The North Geelong rail yards are north of the station. After a rearrangement of the Ballarat line junction in 1907, the platform on the west side was removed, and all trains used the one platform. A further reorganisation in 1920 saw the second platform restored.In 1973, the former Victoria Street level crossing, which was at the down (southern) end of the station, was replaced by the Margaret Street overpass and a pedestrian underpass. In 1976, both platforms were extended by over 60 metres, and the platforms and platform facings were renewed in 1979. The main station building on Platform 1 was opened on 8 August 1990 and, in 2008, the smaller building on Platform 2 was replaced by a metal shelter.In January 2019, the North Geelong "C" signal box, one of the few remaining mechanical signal boxes in Victoria, was abolished, and a project was begun to automatically signal the lines it formerly controlled.

North Geelong is a suburb of Geelong in the Australian state of Victoria. The suburb was bypassed by traffic from Melbourne coming from the Princes Freeway by the creation of the Geelong Ring Road, which was complete in 2009. At the 2016 census, North Geelong had a population of 2,966.The Australian department store, Target (not affiliated with the American Target Corporation)[1], was founded in Geelong in 1925 and was called Lindsay's at the time. Its head office was located on Thompson Road but is no longer there. The suburb has an Australian rules football team competing in the Geelong & District Football League and a Croatian association football team North Geelong Warriors FC that are currently competing in the National Premier Leagues Victoria.

Geelong Arena is a multi-use sports and entertainment venue in Geelong, Victoria. It served as the home venue for the Geelong Supercats, a men's basketball team who played in the National Basketball League (NBL) between 1982 and 1996. It currently still serves as the home venue for the Supercats, who now play in the NBL1 South.Since 1996, the venue has hosted a number of NBL and WNBL games. It also hosted basketball games during the 2006 Commonwealth Games.The arena has the majority of its 2,000 seating capacity on the broadcast side of the court with two smaller sections at each end plus two levels of corporate boxes on the opposite to the broadcast side. The venue has four courts.In 2023, Geelong United Basketball revealed plans to bid for management rights of Geelong Arena.

Rippleside () is a suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The suburb overlooks Corio Bay. At the 2016 census, Rippleside had a population of 875.Rippleside adjoins Drumcondra, 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) north of Geelong City on Corio Bay. The locality covers the suburban area bounded by Corio Bay, East Victoria Street (the Western section is a part of North Geelong and separated by a pedestrian underpass), Melbourne Road and Rippleside Park. Rippleside Park is a much sought-after location in Geelong; many of the properties located in the area represent the Victorian history that the area has experienced throughout its life. The area is known for its lucrative, and therefore expensive location. For local residents, the suburb is within 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) of the North Geelong Railway Station and bus routes connected to Geelong City.

Bell Park is a residential suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It is located 3 km north-west of the Geelong city centre and is bordered to the north by Cowies Creek, to the east by Thompson Road, to the south by the Midland Highway and to the west by Anakie Road. At the 2016 Census, Bell Park had a population of 5,009.

The Port of Geelong is located on the shores of Corio Bay at Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The port is the sixth-largest in Australia by tonnage.Major commodities handled by the port include crude oil and petroleum products, export grain and woodchips, alumina imports, and fertiliser. Major port industries include Graincorp's grain elevator and Viva Energy's Geelong Oil Refinery. The Port of Geelong handled $5.6 billion worth of bulk cargo in 2004–05, made up of 12 million tonnes of cargo from 543 ship visits.

Drumcondra () is a wealthy residential bayside suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia, overlooking Corio Bay. It is the smallest suburb in Geelong and one of the smallest in Victoria. It was named after Drumcondra, which is an inner suburb of Dublin, Ireland. At the 2016 census, Drumcondra had a population of 560.Its boundaries are the Melbourne Road, Glenleith Avenue, The Esplanade and Bell Parade. It is classified as a "block" with its main road being Beach Parade, with only 9 streets in total and around 200 houses. Some of Geelong's most-prized and valuable real estate is located along here.The area was established with the first house built on the site of 5 Glenleith Avenue in April 1912. The houses then were continued to be built on that street in that year, making 2012 their 100th anniversary. The mansion Lunan House is located in the suburb, built of Barrabool sandstone for wool merchant James Strahan in 1849. In later years it became a teachers college, before being converted back to a private house. The house is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
