The Leominster Canal was an English canal which ran for just over 18 miles from Mamble to Leominster through 16 locks and a number of tunnels, some of which suffered engineering problems even before the canal opened. Originally the canal was part of a much more ambitious plan to run 46 miles from Stourport to Kington.

Middleton-on-the-Hill lies a few miles to the east of the A49 between Ludlow and Leominster. Middleton on the Hill is one of the 53 Thankful Villages in England and Wales that suffered no fatalities during the Great War of 1914 to 1918; as it did not suffer any losses in World War II either, it is one of 13 villages considered "doubly thankful".

Greete is a hamlet and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It is situated between the villages of Caynham and Burford, about 5.2 miles (8.4 km) southeast of Ludlow. To the west flows Ledwyche Brook, which is the border with Herefordshire. The area is hilly and through the middle of the parish flows the Stoke Brook.There is a church, dedicated to St James, which remains in use by the Church of England (Greete falling within the Diocese of Hereford).

Burford House is an 18th-century country house in Burford, Shropshire, near Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, England. It now functions as a garden centre, cafe, garden and retail outlet. Built in 1728, it is a Grade II* listed building, built of red brick to a double-pile plan with a six-window three-storey frontage. It stands in 3 hectares (7.5 acres) of ornamental gardens.

St Mary's Church, Burford, is located near to Burford House in Shropshire, England, about 0.7 miles (1 km) to the west of Tenbury Wells. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Ludlow, the archdeaconry of Ludlow, and the diocese of Hereford. Its benefice is united with those of eleven other parishes to form the Tenbury Team Ministry. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.

The Duke of York is a public house in the parish of Middleton on the Hill, near Leominster, Herefordshire. The pub is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.It has been run by the same family since 1911.

Brimfield is a village and civil parish in north Herefordshire, England. The village lies on the A49 road at the border with Shropshire. To the south, near the hamlet of Ashton, excavations at the site of Ashton Castle have revealed traces of a large stone enclosure castle. Less than a mile to the north of this site are the earthwork remains of a medieval motte. The parish has a pub called The Roebuck Inn.Wyson is west of Brimfield and is part of its civil parish. To the north, in Shropshire, is Woofferton. The A49 ran through the village until a by-pass was built in 1982–83; the A49 now passes to the west, between Brimfield and Wyson. The village had a local store in its centre on Wyson Lane which served bread baked on site. The store was initially named A.A. Francis after Annie Amelia, later renamed R.R. Francis after her son Ronald Robert and then R. B. Francis after his son. The store closed and was sold to housing developers in 1996. Villagers later reinstated a local store annexed to The Roebuck which thrives today. The village also had a local Post Office which ran for over 100 years out of a building next door to The Roebuck which has been carefully restored as a residential premise called The Old Post Office. The Post Office facility now runs out of the Village Hall. These facilities and other various local landmarks such as The Foundry are depicted on a quilted display in the local church, St. Michael's. A penny sweet shop was run by a Mrs Humphreys opposite St. Michael's Gate. There is a vibrant local community offering many services in the Village Hall and support to inhabitants, including a long-running Grapevine newsletter.

Caynham is a village and civil parish in south Shropshire, England. The parish lies on the River Teme. It can be accessed via the A4117 or the A49 roads and is located 2+1⁄2 miles (4 km) southeast of the market town of Ludlow. The civil parish includes the village of Cleehill and has an area of 953 hectares (2,350 acres).

St. Michael's College (the College of St. Michael and All Angels) was founded by Sir Frederick Ouseley in 1856 as a boys Preparatory School. Ouseley created the school to provide a model for the performance of Anglican church music. Choral services were performed daily in term time. The college possessed a library that contained rare books of international importance. Financial difficulties forced its closure in 1985. The buildings were reopened as an independent international boarding school under the name of King's College Saint Michaels in 1990. It closed in June 2020 as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
