Hightown Halt railway station

Queensway Stadium is an athletics stadium in Wrexham, Wales, which is home to the Wrexham Athletics Club and until 2021 North Wales Crusaders rugby league club. North Wales Crusaders moved to the stadium from the Racecourse Ground for the 2017 rugby league season, until moving to the Eirias Stadium, Colwyn Bay in 2021.

Hightown Barracks is a military installation in Wrexham, Wales.

Hightown is a suburban area of Wrexham, in Wrexham County Borough, Wales.The Wrexham and Ellesmere Railway used to have a station known as Hightown Halt. The north-western parts of Hightown towards St Giles' Church near Salop Road were once a separate hamlet called Wrexham Fechan (Fechan meaning 'little' from Welsh) until it was eventually reabsorbed by the then growing town. There is a military barracks called Hightown Barracks in the suburb.Until 2011, the suburb was home to the "Hightown Flats", five blocks of five-storey flats built in 1970 of the Napier Square and Gatefield estates. The complex contained 181 flats and maisonettes, as well as five bungalows and 26 four-bedroom houses. The flats were known for safety issues, such as poorly lit corridors, and vandalism such as graffiti and abandoned furniture. The area around the complex was associated with antisocial behaviour, arson, and theft. The complex was demolished by Wrexham County Borough Council in 2011 for re-generation, with locals supporting demolition as the only option to regenerate the area.

The River Gwenfro (Welsh: Afon Gwenfro) is a small river in Wrexham County Borough, north Wales. It is a tributary of the Clywedog. The name Gwenfro is possibly derived from the Welsh language words gwen (feminine of gwyn), "white", and bro, "border", "boundary". (However bro here means "vale", and gwen is likely to mean "holy", thus "holy vale".) The river rises at a number of small springs south and east of the village of Bwlchgwyn, including a place called Ffynnon y Ceirw ("spring of the stags"). It flows eastwards for several miles through a rather deep valley, and is joined by several other streams; it then passes through Wrexham city centre, where it is largely culverted, and joins the Clywedog at King's Mills. The section of the river that passes through Wrexham city centre was culverted in 1881 and now passes beneath Brook Street.The Gwenfro was an important water source for Wrexham industry and has had pollution issues. Although still periodically affected – an incident in 2006 led to a fine for Welsh Water – fish including brown trout and roach are now present.

Caia Park (Welsh: Parc Caia) is a suburb and community in Wrexham, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It was created in 1985 after a Boundary Commission review of the four community areas within Wrexham, of which Caia Park occupies its east, with the others being Acton, Offa, and Rhosddu. At the 2001 census, the community had a population of 11,882 in 5,019 households, increasing to 12,602 in 2011.

The A525 is a major route from Rhyl in Wales to Newcastle-under-Lyme in England. The route passes near Denbigh, through Ruthin, through Wrexham and near Whitchurch. The route is a dual carriageway just south of Rhyl. As of 10 March, 2010, the section between Wrexham and Whitchurch is not classified as a primary route, and the section between Burleydam, (to the East of Whitchurch where it is a "TOTSO" with the A530 to Nantwich) and Newcastle (via Audlem) is also now a non-primary A road.In total, the A525 is 73 miles (117 km) in length.

Eagles Meadow (Welsh: Dôl Yr Eryod) is a medium-sized shopping centre in Wrexham city centre. The area has had a variety of previous uses, from housing stables for local gentry to its later use as a car park hosting a market. The current shopping centre opened on Thursday 30 October 2008 at 10am. There is a webcam pointed at the Eagles Meadow bridge hosted by local hyperlocal site Wrexham.com.

The Elephant and Castle was a public house on Charles Street in Wrexham, Wales, known to have existed in 1788, and closed in 1999. The building has housed the Magic Dragon Brewery Tap since 2019. It was sometimes known as the Elephant Inn.

Charles Street (Welsh: Stryt Siarl) is a street in Wrexham city centre, North Wales. It contains multiple listed buildings. It was originally considered part of the High Street, but later became known as Beast Market Street due to its importance as a drovers' road towards Wrexham's Beast Market. Today, the street is known for its small independent businesses. The listed buildings on the street include the No. 20–23 terrace, and parts of the Wynnstay Arms Hotel and former Feathers Hotel. The street was also home to the Elephant and Castle pub, a historically notorious pub in Wrexham.

Waterworld (Welsh: Byd Dŵr), formerly the Wrexham Swimming Baths, is a leisure centre in Wrexham, North Wales. Known for its hyperbolic paraboloid roof, the only roof of its type in Wales, the centre houses a set of swimming pools and a gym. The centre was opened in 1967, with a major refurbishment occurring in the 1990s, being re-opened by Elizabeth II in March 1998 under its current name. Due to the difficult and high maintenance costs of the roof, the building was proposed to be demolished before its 1998 refurbishment and again in the 2010s as part of a council reorganisation and cost-saving measure of leisure services in Wrexham County Borough. Under these newer proposals, Waterworld was proposed to be replaced by a new facility somewhere in Wrexham city centre. The plans were abandoned in 2015 due to funding concerns, and the centre was instead transferred to a trust, Freedom Leisure, in 2016 for ten years. Since being transferred to a trust, a petition was launched to reinstate the centre's unofficial mascot, a green inflatable alien. The centre houses multiple pools, a lazy river, water slide, and a bubble pool, as well as a large viewing terrace. It houses a gym, Costa Cafe and spaces for other activities.

The Nags Head (also spelled Nag's Head) is a historic pub on Mount Street in Wrexham city centre, North Wales. The current frontage dates to a 19th-century remodelling under the Soames family. The Grade II listed building was also home to a brewery, known as the Nag's Head Brewery, which started brewing by 1834. The brewery and pub were purchased by Soames Brewery in 1879, who later remodelled the building and expanded the brewery in the adjacent area, including a brick chimney built to the building's rear. It became part of Border Breweries in 1931, and was acquired by Marston's Brewery in 1984, with the brewery closing six months later, while the British pub remains open as of 2023.

The Wynnstay Arms is a hotel and pub in Wrexham city centre, Wales. It is located on Yorke Street and directly on the western end of Wrexham's High Street. The building is a Grade II listed building for its surviving Georgian red brick façade, while most of the building was demolished and rebuilt in the 1970s. The Football Association of Wales was formed at the hotel in 1876, and Prime Minister, David Lloyd George is said to have announced the end of World War I from the building's balcony in 1918.
