Trench Halt railway station

Knolton (Welsh pronunciation) is a hamlet in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, close to the border with Shropshire, England. It is in Overton parish, and is 5½ miles ENE of Chirk.The Kynaston family has its seat at Knolton Hall, a Grade II* listed building. The Trotting Mare Inn, a public house in Knolton, has the distinction of being in Wales, while its adjacent car park is in England.

Elson Halt railway station was a station to the northwest of Ellesmere, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1937 and finally closed in 1962.

Overton-on-Dee railway station was a station to the southeast of Overton-on-Dee, Wrexham, Wales at Lightwood Green. The station was opened on 2 November 1895 and closed on 10 September 1962.The station had a goods yard and adjacent livestock market. On the west side a creamery was built around 1919 operated by the Co-Operative Wholesale Society (CWS), and in 1928 with the adoption of milk tank wagons in place of milk churns a siding was extended to the creamery. The creamery closed just before WW2. Also adjacent to the station goods yard was the Overton Brick and Tile Works which closed around WW2 or shortly afterwards.

Ellesmere Rural is a civil parish in Shropshire, England. In 2011 the parish covered a large area, mainly to the west of the town of Ellesmere. This rural parish consists of farmland and a number of small settlements including Dudleston Heath (also known as Criftins), Dudleston, Elson, Tetchill and Welsh Frankton.

Lakelands Academy (formerly The Lakelands School) is a coeducational secondary school located in Ellesmere in the English county of Shropshire.Previously a community school administered by Shropshire Council, The Lakelands School converted to academy status in December 2012. However the school continues to coordinate with Shropshire Council for admissions. Lakelands Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. In addition the school offers some vocational courses in conjunction with Walford and North Shropshire College. Pupils at Lakelands Academy also have the option to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme.

Overton (Welsh: Owrtyn) or Overton-on-Dee is a village and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is situated close to the Welsh-English border on the edge of an escarpment that winds its way around the course of the River Dee, from which Overton-on-Dee derives its name. The community of Overton, which also includes the village of Lightwood Green and a number of small hamlets including Knolton, had a total population of 1,276 at the 2001 census, increasing to 1,382 at the 2011 Census.
