Overton-on-Dee

Overton-on-Dee railway station was a station to the southeast of Overton-on-Dee, Wrexham, Wales at Lightwood Green. The station was opened on 2 November 1895 and closed on 10 September 1962.The station had a goods yard and adjacent livestock market. On the west side a creamery was built around 1919 operated by the Co-Operative Wholesale Society (CWS), and in 1928 with the adoption of milk tank wagons in place of milk churns a siding was extended to the creamery. The creamery closed just before WW2. Also adjacent to the station goods yard was the Overton Brick and Tile Works which closed around WW2 or shortly afterwards.

Erbistock (Welsh: Erbistog) is a village and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The village lies on the banks of the River Dee. The community area, governed by Erbistock Community Council (Welsh: Cyngor Cymuned Erbistog) also includes the small villages of Crabtree Green and Eyton; it had a total population of 409 at the 2001 census, falling to 383 at the 2011 Census.

Knolton (Welsh pronunciation) is a hamlet in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, close to the border with Shropshire, England. It is in Overton parish, and is 5½ miles ENE of Chirk.The Kynaston family has its seat at Knolton Hall, a Grade II* listed building. The Trotting Mare Inn, a public house in Knolton, has the distinction of being in Wales, while its adjacent car park is in England.

Cloy Brook Pastures is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in the preserved county of Clwyd, north Wales. It is an area of wet pasture managed by grazing, with a variety of plants such as dyer’s greenweed, pepper saxifrage and spiny restharrow.

Cloy Halt railway station was a station to the east of Overton-on-Dee, Wrexham, Wales. The station was opened on 30 June 1932 and closed on 10 September 1962.

Shellbrook Hill is a grade II listed house in Ellesmere Rural, Shropshire, England, less than a quarter of a mile from part of the Wales border. The house was built in 1820, and "is thought to have been designed by a pupil of Sir John Soane." It was built for the Rev Richard Hilton, and the architect may have been George Edgecombe of Ellesmere. Hilton was still living there in 1837, but by 1851, it was home to his son-in-law John Jones, who had married Hilton's daughter. It passed to their son, Hanmer Hilton Jones, who lived there until he died in 1935, aged 93. The house was sold and by mid-century was home to the Soames family.Work was later undertaken to remove some changes that occurred in the mid-1930s, including large water tanks in the roof space, lowered ceilings, a bathroom, internal walls and some metal windows. The internal layout and the window arrangement was restored, and a new en-suite bathroom was created within a former maid's cupboard.It was home to Major Frederic Evelyn Soames (who also lived in Nyeri, Kenya), who died there on 14 March 1967. He was the son of Frederick William Soames, who ran Soames Brewery, Wrexham.It has been listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England since May 1953.It has been home to former Conservative cabinet minister Owen Paterson and his late wife Rose Paterson, since at least 2008. Rose Paterson was found dead in woods near the house in 2020, and the coroner later returned a verdict of suicide.

Trench Halt railway station was a station to the northwest of Dudleston Heath, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1914 and closed in 1962.

The Maelor is an area of north-east Wales along the border with England. It is now entirely part of Wrexham County Borough. The name Maelor is an old Welsh word: it can be translated as "land of the prince", from mael ("prince") and llawr ("low ground", "region").

Bangor Bridge (also known as the Bangor-on-Dee Bridge) is a Grade I listed bridge crossing the River Dee in Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is situated on the community boundary between Bangor-is-y-Coed and Sesswick. Located to the west of Bangor-on-Dee, it connects the village's high street and the A525 road bypass. The narrow bridge is a one-way traffic bridge, west to east, and is downstream (north) of the Bangor by-pass bridge.

St Dunawd's Church, is in the village of Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is designated by Cadw as a Grade II* listed building. The church is an active Anglican church in the deanery of Dee Valley, the archdeaconry of Wrexham and the diocese of St Asaph.

Bangor-on-Dee (Welsh: Bangor-is-y-coed or standardised Bangor Is-coed) is a village and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, on the banks of the River Dee. Until 1974 it was in the exclave of Flintshire known as the Maelor Saesneg, and from 1974 to 1996 in the county of Clwyd. The community had a population of 1,110 at the 2011 Census.
