The Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies is an archive of political and historical primary documents relating to the modern American political system. The Russell Library is one of three Special Collections Libraries located in the Richard B. Russell Building on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens. The address is 300 S. Hull Street. The Russell Library is a department within the University of Georgia Libraries that reports to the University Librarian. The Russell Library is a charter member of the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress.

The J.M. Tull School of Accounting is a department within the Terry College of Business at University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. The School was founded in 1977 and was one of the first five schools of accounting in the United States. In 1982, the school was named after Georgia businessman J.M Tull. In 2018, graduates from the School of Accounting ranked 1st in the nation in terms of first-time pass rates for all sections of the CPA exam.

The University of Georgia Graduate School coordinates the graduate programs of all schools and colleges at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, United States. Established in 1910, the University of Georgia Graduate School administers and confers all professional, master's and doctoral degrees. The departments under which instruction and research take place are housed in the other schools and colleges at the university.The University of Georgia Graduate School is responsible for administering and conferring all professional and research master's and doctoral degrees and has conferred 72,664 degrees to date. The school offers advanced degrees in over 130 areas of discipline and has 6,766 students and approximately 1,600 graduate faculty. Many of its academic programs rank among the highest in the nation. In addition to its administrative functions, the Graduate School provides professional development opportunities for students, including the Dean's Awards, the Innovative and Interdisciplinary Research Grants for doctoral students, Summer Doctoral Research Fellowships, the Emerging Leaders Program, the Three-Minute Thesis Competition, and the Interdisciplinary Certificate in University Teaching. In recent years, the school has received both regional and national awards for excellence in graduate admissions, and has won competitive grants for research initiatives on doctoral completion and minority attrition at the university. Suzanne Barbour currently serves as dean of the graduate school.

Woodruff Hall was a 3,000 seat multi-purpose arena on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Georgia. It opened in 1923, and was located on North Campus in the area bounded by Baldwin Street, Sanford Drive, and Hooper Street now occupied by the Psychology-Journalism Complex. The building was named for George Cecil Woodruff and his brother Harry, both of whom were football players, with the former becoming coach in the mid-1920s. The building featured a gabled wood roof, many windows, and wrap around bleachers and a balcony. It was home to the University of Georgia Bulldogs' basketball team until it was replaced when Georgia Coliseum opened in 1964. The Hall was one of the buildings that was used for the training of servicemen in the Second World War.Prior to the building of the gymnasium, the Bulldogs had played in a variety of locations, including the Athens YMCA (now the site of the Georgia Theatre) from 1905 to 1911, the then-partially-completed Memorial Hall from 1911 to 1918, and the off-campus Moss Auditorium from 1919 to 1923.

The Atrium Award is an award for excellence in journalism coverage of the garment industry. It is given by the University of Georgia's Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and AmericasMart, the world's largest permanent trade center for wholesale trade and the only permanent international trade center in the United States. The award was established in 1980 to "recognize outstanding work of writers and photojournalists who cover the nation's garment industry and to encourage them to put forth their best efforts." Past Atrium Award winners include the San Francisco Chronicle, Detroit Free Press, and Los Angeles Times, as well as individuals such as Sandra Eisert (San Jose Mercury-News) and Jeff Wilkerson (St. Louis Magazine).

The School of Public and International Affairs, also referred to as SPIA, is a political science, international affairs and public policy school within The University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Georgia, United States. It is the fourth ranked public affairs school in the United States.

Herty Field, also known as Alumni Athletic Field, was the original on-campus playing venue for football and baseball at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Georgia. It opened in the Fall of 1891 and hosting the first UGA home football game against Mercer University on January 30, 1892. Before its use for athletics, the field was a marching ground. Under the direction of Dr. Charles Herty, a professor of chemistry at UGA and the creator of the UGA varsity football and baseball teams, the field was landscaped to host games and practices for the university's varsity and intramural activities.Outside his faculty duties, Herty also served as the Instructor in Physical Culture from 1894 to 1896 and as Physical Director from 1896 until his resignation from UGA in November 1901. He led efforts to improve the field including raising USD$1,900.00 in 1897 from UGA alumni to further landscape the field and build bleachers. The field was originally referred to as Alumni Athletic Field; however, the name was changed to Herty Field after several years.Herty Field was converted into a parking lot in the 1940s; however, it was converted back into a greenspace in 1999.

The University of Georgia (UGA or Georgia) is a public land-grant research university with its main campus in Athens, Georgia. Chartered in 1785, it is one of the oldest public universities in the United States. It is the flagship school of the University System of Georgia. In addition to the main campuses in Athens with their approximately 470 buildings, the university has two smaller campuses located in Tifton and Griffin. The university has two satellite campuses located in Atlanta and Lawrenceville. The total acreage of the university in 30 Georgia counties is 41,539 acres (168.10 km2).The university is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity," and as having "more selective" undergraduate admissions. The flagship school of the University System of Georgia, it has been ranked by major institutional rankings among the best public universities in the United States. The University of Georgia's intercollegiate sports teams, commonly known by their Georgia Bulldogs name, compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The University of Georgia has had more alumni as Rhodes Scholars since 1990 than nearly all other public universities in the country. Alumni also include a United States Poet Laureate, Emmy Award winners, Grammy Award winners, and multiple Super Bowl champions.

The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences is the oldest and largest college of the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Georgia. Established in 1801 following the American Revolution, the college was named in honor of American Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. Today, Franklin College comprises 30 departments in five divisions: fine arts, social sciences, biological sciences, physical and mathematical sciences, and the humanities. From its founding Franklin College was the sole college of the University of Georgia, and the names of the two institutions were often used interchangeably to describe the fledgling university until 1859, when the university's colleges and schools were confederated starting with the establishment of the College of Law.Franklin College has produced distinguished alumni from a wide array of fields, including Time Inc. editor-in-chief John Huey, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Natasha Trethewey, R.E.M lead vocalist Michael Stipe, chef and television host Alton Brown, actor Wayne Knight and former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes.

Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium is the on-campus playing venue for football at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, United States (also known as UGA). The 93,033-seat stadium is the ninth-largest football stadium in the NCAA (and in the United States), and the 17th-largest such stadium in the world. Games played there are said to be played "between the hedges" due to the field being surrounded by privet hedges, which have been a part of the design of the stadium since it opened in 1929. The current generation of hedges were planted in 2023 after the originals were taken out to accommodate the football tournaments for the 1996 Summer Olympics. The stadium is often considered one of college football's "best, loudest, and most intimidating atmospheres". Whereas many college football stadiums have artificial playing surfaces, Sanford Stadium from the outset had, and continues to have, a natural grass surface, planted with Tifton 419 Bermuda Grass.

Jackson Street Cemetery, also known as Old Athens Cemetery, was the original cemetery for Athens, Georgia and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was in official use as the town cemetery from about 1810 to 1856, until Oconee Hill Cemetery opened. The last known burial was in 1898.

Area codes 706 and 762 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the northern and west central parts of Georgia, but excluding metropolitan Atlanta. The numbering plan area (NPA) is divided into three disconnected geographical regions. A small section is in west-central Georgia, in the region around Columbus. This is bordered by area code 334 to the west in Alabama, area code 478 to the east, area code 229 to the south, and metro Atlanta's 404, 678, 770, and 470. It does not border the landline area of 404, only the cellphone area. Additionally, the Yatesville rate center is in area codes 706 and 762, but not adjacent to any other rate centers in 706/762. The Yatesville rate center shares a small border with 770 to the north, but is almost surrounded by 478 to the south, east, and west. The major section of 706 wraps around from Rome in northwest Georgia, east through the mountains past Dahlonega, meeting its narrowest point at Toccoa, then broadening south to Athens and Augusta. It touches Alabama's area code 256/938 and 334 on the far west, Tennessee's area code 423 on the northwest, North Carolina's area code 828 and Upstate South Carolina's area code 864 to the north-northeast, and midlands area codes 803 and 839 to the east, and middle Georgia's 478 and metro Atlanta as above.
