Marian College is an independent Roman Catholic secondary day school for girls, located in the outer Melbourne suburb of Sunshine West, Victoria, Australia. The school was established in 1957 by the Brigidine Sisters and since 2014 now works under the governance of the Kildare Ministries. Marian College is one of seven Kildare Ministries secondary schools in Victoria and South Australia and continues to hold the Brigidine Tradition as a valuable and significant part of its heritage. Marian College seeks to provide young women with the opportunity to be educated within a school environment that allows and encourages each person to develop fully as an individual, and as a community member. There are approximately 800 girls at the school.

Albion is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 14 km (8.7 mi) west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Brimbank local government area. Albion recorded a population of 4,334 at the 2021 census.Albion is bordered on the north by Ballarat Road, the south by Forrest Street, the west by Kororoit Creek and the east by Anderson Road. The suburb is completely surrounded by other parts of Sunshine except for Ardeer, which lies to Albion's due west across Kororoit Creek.

Chaplin Reserve was an Australian football (soccer) stadium in Sunshine, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. It was the home of Sunshine George Cross from 1980 to 2017, buying the facility from the State Government in 1997. The stadium had a capacity of 5,000. Chaplin Reserve was also home to the Sunshine George Cross Bocci Club. The state government sold the land to the soccer club on the condition that it was only used for the purpose of a private sports ground.Despite the reserve being sold to George Cross on the condition that it was only used for the purpose of a private sports ground, George Cross sold the reserve to developers in 2016, who intend to build 150 townhouses on the site, despite angry objections by Sunshine residents. The soccer club will move to a new council facility in Taylors Hill, Victoria, worth $13m.

The H.V. McKay Memorial Gardens, originally the Sunshine Gardens, are a public space located in the Melbourne suburb of Sunshine, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1909, the Gardens are Australia's oldest remaining industrial garden and one of only two remaining in Australia, the heritage-listed gardens on Anderson Road were established by H.V. McKay as Sunshine Gardens later taken over by Brimbank City Council and renamed the H.V. McKay Memorial Gardens. The development of the gardens was not only an expression of H.V. McKay's own social philosophy but also represented a changing attitude to Urban Planning that is known as the "Garden Suburb" movement. A Friends Group was established in 2007 to rescue the Gardens from serious decline and in April 2012, local residents were campaigning to preserve the original state of the public space.

Ardeer is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 15 km (9.3 mi) west of the Melbourne central business district, located within the City of Brimbank local government area. Ardeer recorded a population of 3,170 at the 2021 census.Ardeer railway station is on the Serviceton railway line.

Sunshine railway station is located on the Sunbury line in Victoria, Australia. Originally named Braybrook Junction for the convergence of the major railways from central Melbourne to Ballarat and Bendigo, it was renamed when the suburb of Sunshine, which it serves, took its name from the nearby Sunshine Harvester Works. With the expansion of the railway network in Melbourne's west, Sunshine grew in importance, with cross-suburban goods routes constructed to Newport and from the adjacent Albion to Jacana line. From the mid-20th century, it became an interchange for the main interstate routes to South Australia and New South Wales, when the through line from Melbourne to Sydney was completed, although the main line to Adelaide was later diverted. In the early 21st century, the station was demolished and reconstructed to serve the diversion of the main passenger route to Geelong and beyond. It has been identified as a possible route for a future line to Melbourne Airport and as an interchange for the orbital Suburban Rail Loop. Today, Sunshine is served by Metro Trains' services on the Sunbury line, and V/Line services on the Geelong and Ballarat lines. Bendigo and freight services to northern Victoria and towards Sydney also pass through the station. A large bus interchange at the station is a hub for surrounding suburbs.

The Sunshine rail disaster occurred on 20 April 1908 at the junction at Sunshine railway station when a Melbourne-bound train from Bendigo collided with the rear of a train from Ballarat. 44 people were killed and over 400 injured, almost all of them from the Ballarat train, as the Bendigo train was cushioned by its two locomotives.A temporary mortuary was set up at Melbourne's Spencer Street Station to deal with the dead and wounded, who were transported from Sunshine by special relief trains. The disaster is Victoria's worst railway accident in terms of deaths, and is Australia's second-worst after the 1977 Granville rail disaster.The subsequent coronial inquiry found that the two drivers of the Bendigo train as well as the Sunshine stationmaster had a manslaughter case to answer, although all three were later acquitted by the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Albion railway station is located on the Sunbury line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Albion, and it opened on 5 January 1860 as Albion and Darlington. It closed on 1 January 1861, and reopened on 24 March 1891 as Albion.The Melbourne – Sydney standard gauge line passes to the east of the station and, along with the Albion – Jacana freight line, branches off north of the station.

Sunshine Marketplace (was to be called Market Towers) is a regional shopping centre in Sunshine, about 13 kilometres (8 mi) west of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It has been built next to the existing Sunshine Plaza. Sunshine Marketplace has a variety of national, international and independent retailers, it has a Gross Lettable Area of 33,850 m2 (364,400 sq ft), 1,743 parking spaces and approximately 74 stores.

The electoral district of Sunshine was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria.

The Sunshine Harvester works was an Australian factory making agricultural equipment founded by industrialist H. V. McKay, and with engineering development headed by H.B. Garde.
