Rhöndorf station

The Drachenfels ("Dragon's Rock", German pronunciation: [ˈdʁaxənˌfɛls]) is a hill (321 metres (1,053 ft)) in the Siebengebirge uplands between Königswinter and Bad Honnef in Germany. The hill was formed by rising magma that could not break through to the surface, and then cooled and became solid underneath. It is the subject of much tourism and romanticism in the North Rhine-Westphalia area.

Schloss Drachenburg or Drachenburg Castle is a private villa styled as a palace and constructed in the late 19th century. It was completed in only two years (1882–84) on the Drachenfels hill in Königswinter, a German town on the east bank of the Rhine, south of the city of Bonn. Baron Stephan von Sarter (1833–1902), a broker and banker, planned to live there, but never did. The villa is owned by the State Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is served by an intermediate station on the Drachenfels Railway.

The Rodderberg is an extinct volcano in the east of the municipality of Wachtberg near Bonn, Germany. The last eruption was 250,000 years ago. It is situated just above the Rhine Valley. Together with the Drachenfels directly opposite, the Rodderberg narrows the Rhine Valley. This gorge portion is the southern limit of the lowland-bay of Cologne. The Rodderberg offers views to the Siebengebirge, the Rhine Valley and up to the Cologne Cathedral, about 50 km away.

The Drachenfels Railway (German: Drachenfelsbahn) is a rack railway line in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany. The line runs from Königswinter, on the east bank of the Rhine, to the summit of the Drachenfels mountain at an altitude of 289 m (948 ft). Besides the two terminal stations, an intermediate station serves the Schloss Drachenburg.The Drachenfels Railway is one of only four rack railways still operational in Germany, along with the Bavarian Zugspitze Railway, the Stuttgart Rack Railway and the Wendelstein Railway.

Bad Honnef (Rhein) is a station on the East Rhine Railway in Bad Honnef, a town in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was opened on 11 July 1870 during the extension of the East Rhine Railway from Neuwied to Oberkassel as a station with the name of Honnef (Rhein). In the course of the commissioning of the electronic interlocking on the Right Rhine line, the station was converted into a halt (Haltepunkt) with an Anschlussstelle (siding that is normally locked out of use) in August 2014.

École de Gaulle-Adenauer (German: Schule de Gaulle-Adenauer) or École française de Gaulle-Adenauer (EFDGA), formerly the Lycée Français de Gaulle-Adenauer, is a French international school in Mehlem, Bonn, Germany. As of 2015 it has 176 students, including 75 école maternelle (preschool) students and 101 primary students.

Bad Honnef (German: [baːt ˈhɔnəf] (listen)) is a spa town in Germany near Bonn in the Rhein-Sieg district, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located on the border of the neighbouring state Rhineland-Palatinate. To the north it lies on the slopes of the Drachenfels (“Dragon's Rock”) mountain, part of the Siebengebirge.

Königswinter (Kölsch: Köningkswinte; Low Franconian: Keuningswintjer) is a town and summer resort in the Rhein-Sieg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Nonnenwerth (formerly also Rolandswerth) is an island in the river Rhine in Germany between Rolandseck and Bad Honnef (at river kilometer 642) opposite the island of Grafenwerth. The island has been the site of a monastery with interruptions since the beginning of the 12th century, was originally founded by the Benedictines and taken over by the Franciscans in 1854. Since then, the monastery has also been home to a Franciscan educational institution, which began as a girls' boarding school and later became a general high school.

Lohfelderfähre is a district of Bad Honnef, Germany. It evolved around the Eastern bank pier of the car ferry across the Rhine between Bad Honnef and Rolandseck.

Königswinter station is a station on the East Rhine Railway (German: Rechte Rheinstrecke) in the city of Königswinter in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a protected as a monument. The station was opened on 11 July 1870 as part of the extension of the East Rhine Railway from Neuwied to Oberkassel.At its core the entrance building, which was built in 1869/70, is a 2+1⁄2-storey stucco building with neoclassical influences. It has an avant-corps with three portals, covered by a gable with an oeil-de-boeuf. The station is particularly notable for an iron and glass structure that provides covered access to the island platform. In the 1950s, a glass-enclosed porch and extensions were built on both sides the station building, which were designed as the station restaurant and for the handling of freight. At the same time the interior was also redesigned.The station is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station building belonged to the city from 2004 and was sold at the end of 2012 to a real estate company. In 2019, it was adapted to be used for a bakery. The underpass connects the platform with Königswinter's old town to the west and to the premises of the Maxion company to the east.

Rolandseck is a borough in the town of Remagen in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The place consists almost entirely of villas and is a favorite summer resort. Crowning the vine-clad hills behind it lie the ruins of the castle, a picturesque ivy-covered arch, whence a fine view is obtained of the Siebengebirge and the Rhine valley as far as Bonn. Immediately below Rolandseck in mid-river is the island of Nonnenwerth, on which is a nursing school under the conduct of Franciscan nuns, established in 1850. The convent which formerly stood here was founded in 1122 and secularized in 1802. Tradition assigns the foundation of the castle of Rolandseck to Charlemagne's paladin, Roland. It was certainly built at a very early date, as it was restored by Frederick I, archbishop of Cologne, in 1120, and it was a fortress until the end of the 15th century.
