Krefeld-Oppum station

Oppum is a quarter (Stadtteil) of Krefeld, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Oppum probably developed as a Frankish farmer settlement. Its existence was first documented in the year 1072. Its population is 12,906 (2019) and its area is 5.37 km2 (2.07 sq mi).

The Botanischer Garten Krefeld (3.6 hectares), more formally the Botanischer Garten der Stadt Krefeld, is a municipal botanical garden located at Sandberg 2, Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is open daily in the warmer months; admission is free. The garden was established in 1927–1928 as part of a small school. Today it contains about 5,000 species and varieties of plants in a plot edged with deciduous trees, shrubs, and conifers. Major garden features include a rose garden of some 3,000 specimens representing 150 rose varieties, an alpine garden, a medicinal herb garden, and a rhododendron area. Greenhouses contain cacti from South America and succulents from Africa, and other plants of the Canary Islands, carnivorous plants, and orchids.

The Grotenburg-Stadion is a multi-use stadium in Krefeld, Germany. It is used mostly for football matches and hosts the home matches of KFC Uerdingen 05. The stadium has a capacity of 34,500 and was built in 1927.

Krefeld Zoo is a zoo in the city of Krefeld, Germany, specialized in management of primates, carnivores, fauna from the African savanna and tropical birds.

Krefeld-Linn station is a regional station in the district of Linn in the city of Krefeld in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies on the Osterath–Essen railway; the Rhenish Railway Company (Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft) gained a concession to build the line on 16 July 1863. The line was opened on 1 September 1866, with the stations not yet finished. Linn station was opened on 15 October 1874 and the first entrance building was also put into operation at this time. The station name was changed to Crefeld-Linn in 1905 and Krefeld-Linn in 1925. This name still applies today. A new entrance building opened in Linn in 1907, which is still preserved (the old one was demolished in 1912). It has not been used for more than 20 years and is in a stage of advanced decay.

Linn has been a part of the City of Krefeld, Germany, since its incorporation into that city in 1901. Linn lies with its historic city center within the lower Rhenish lowlands about 5 km (3.1 mi) east of the Krefeld city center. Krefeld-Linn station is served by the Rhein-Niers-Bahn and the Emscher-Niederrhein-Bahn Regionalbahn services. The place known as Linn was first mentioned in an Imperial document composed between 1090 and 1120. By the beginning of the fourteenth century, Linn must have been raised to the status of a city, as in another document in 1314, city jurors were named. Particularly worth seeing in Linn are the Burg Linn (Linn Castle), a Wasserburg—a castle on the Rhine surrounded by a water-filled moat--construction on which began in the twelfth century, along with the layout of its fortifications and parkland; the Jagdschloß (hunting lodge) located on the grounds of the Burg Linn; the Greiffenhorst-Schlösschen (Greiffenhorst Mansion); the Deutsche Textilmuseum (German Textile Museum); as well as the Lower Rhine Landschaftsmuseum which belongs to the Museumszentrum Burg Linn (Museum Center of Burg Linn). Linn was spared destruction through both world wars. Nearly the entire Linn city center stands today subject to historic preservation. Every year at the Pentecost or Whitsuntide weekend, the historic flax market is set up by the Burg Linn. This traditional market for handmade goods is an occasion fondly regarded well beyond the borders of Krefeld, and each year beckons thousands of visitors to Linn.

Haus Lange and Haus Esters are two residential houses designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in Krefeld, Germany, for German industrialists Hermann Lange and Josef Esters. They were built between 1928 and 1930 in the Bauhaus style. The houses have now been converted into museums for Contemporary art.

TAM (Theater) is a theatre in Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Bayer Sportstadion, also known as the Stadion am Wollenhofweg, is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Uerdingen district of Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Located within the Bayer Uerdingen sports park, it is owned and used by the SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen multi-sport club.Adjacent to the stadium, and also within the sports park, is the Bayer Uerdingen Cricket Ground, part of Germany's national cricket performance centre, a joint venture between SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen and the German Cricket Federation.

Fabrik Heeder is a theatre in Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a former factory building, originally constructed in 1906, and has been in use for cultural activities since 1989.

The 11th Hussar Regiment, initially called the 2nd Westphalian Regiment, was a notable cavalry unit of the Royal Prussian Army and the German Imperial Army. It was established in Düsseldorf in December 1807 and originally bore the name of 2nd Royal Westphalian Hussar Regiment. It was a continuation of an earlier unit, the Chevau-légers Uhlan Regiment of the Duchy of Berg formed by Joachim Murat earlier during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1906 the regiment gained the nickname of "Dancing Hussars of Krefeld" (German: Krefelder Tanzhusaren) after Emperor Wilhelm II personally ordered the regiment to relocate from Düsseldorf to Krebs following that city's aristocracy's complaints that there were not enough bachelors to dance at the balls. Thereupon the Emperor promised to send appropriate dancers. What was at first thought of as a joke, was later the same day confirmed by General Moritz von Bissing, the commanding officer of the 7th Army Corps. The regiment took part in World War I as part of the 9th Cavalry Division. Initially at the Western Front, in late 1914 it was moved to the Eastern Front where it remained for the rest of the conflict (mostly in the region of Polesie). Dismounted in 1916, the regiment was disbanded along with the rest of the division in early March 1918.

Fischeln is the most southerly district of Krefeld, Germany. Its population is 26,030 (2019) and its area is 18.99 km2 (7.33 sq mi). Older than Krefeld, Fischeln was first mentioned as "Viscolo" around 900AD. Fischeln became a district of Krefeld in 1929. Objects of interest in Fischeln include the church tower of the Saint Clemens church which was erected in 1170AD.
