Great Oakley Meadow

Stoke Wood End Quarter is a 0.7-hectare (1.7-acre) nature reserve west of Corby in Northamptonshire. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, and is part of the Stoke and Bowd Lane Woods Site of Special Scientific Interest.The main trees in this wood are oak, ash, hazel and blackthorn. There are flowers such as early purple orchid and twayblade, birds including treecreepers and tawny owls, while comma and small tortoiseshell butterflies feed in open glades in summer.Stoke Wood is divided into three areas. The eastern half is managed by the Woodland Trust and the western area is privately owned. The End Quarter is a small triangular area which stretches south from the middle. There is access to the Wildlife Trust site by a footpath from the B669, Desborough Road and then through the Woodland Trust area.

Great Oakley is an outer suburb of Corby, in the civil parish of Corby, in the North Northamptonshire district, in the ceremonial county of Northamptonshire, England. It is situated approximately two miles south west of the town centre and five miles from Kettering. It was represented on Corby Borough Council by one councillor. The population of the Great Oakley Ward of Corby Borough Council at the 2011 Census was 2,248.Great (and Little) Oakley lie in the upper reaches of the Harpers Brook on a narrow strip of limestone, sandstone and clay where the valley has cut down through the extensive boulder clay capped plateau. This permeable geology presumably provided a narrow strip of open pasture, the oak ley, along the valley within a broad tract of woodland on the boulder clay either side. The townships extended across the boulder clay to tributaries of the Harpers Brook on the south and of the Willow Brook on the north west, where it abutted extensive woodland which lay in the forest.

Great Oakley Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Great Oakley, Northamptonshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1960, when the ground held Northamptonshire Second XI played the Surrey Second XI in the Second XI Championship. The ground has played host to a total of 14 Second XI fixtures involving the Northamptonshire Second XI.In 1990, the ground held a single Women's One Day International between England women and Ireland women.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home venue of Great Oakley Cricket Club.

King's Wood is a 31.7 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Corby in Northamptonshire. It managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.More than 250 plant species have been recorded at this remnant of the Royal Forest of Rockingham, including ones characteristic of ancient woods including yellow archangel and wood anemone. There are diverse invertebrates such as green-veined white butterflies and common blue damselflies, and birds include treecreepers, long-tailed tits, green woodpeckers and tawny owls.Access points include one at the junction of Danesholme Road and Gainsborough Road.

Oakley Vale is a 436-acre (1.76 km2) housing development situated in the south west of Corby, England. The development was begun in 2001 by Cofton, and over 2000 houses have now been built. The adjacent area of Snatchill, developed from around the mid-1990s, is often regarded as being within the Oakley Vale development boundary. Oakley Vale contains a mix of housing types ranging from small apartments to large 5 or six bedroomed family homes. The cost of housing at levels lower than the UK average and the proximity to the East Midlands main line have attracted homebuyers from more expensive surrounding areas and even as far afield as London. Oakley Vale Primary school was opened in 2008 and Brooke Weston Academy is located in the Oakley Vale development. Located in the south west of Corby, Oakley vale is within a few miles of the A14 road (England) and just 23 miles (38 km) of the UK motorway network via the M1 motorway (Great Britain) and the M6 motorway The development is 2 miles (3 km) from Corby railway station providing fast links to London St Pancras station.

Kettering was a rural district in Northamptonshire in England from 1894 to 1974. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1972 based on Kettering rural sanitary district. It was named after but did not include Kettering itself. Burton Latimer became a separate urban district in 1923. In 1935 it was expanded greatly under the County Review Order, taking in part of Oxendon Rural District, the parishes of Gretton and Rockingham from Gretton Rural District, and the parish of Mawsley from Brixworth Rural District. In 1974 it was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, with the bulk going to form part of the new Kettering district and the rest going to Corby.

River Ise and Meadows is a 13.5-hectare (33-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest along the River Ise in Northamptonshire between Geddington and the Kettering to Corby railway line east of Rushton.The river is described by Natural England as "the best example in the county of a lowland river on clay, fed by base-rich water". The banks have tall fen, woodland and grassland, and there is also a species rich flood meadow. The river has many bends and loops, with silty pools and gravel shoals. The invertebrates are diverse, and there is a population of the nationally declining freshwater crayfish Austropotamobius pallipes.The eastern section runs through private land, but the western end, between Barford Bridge and the railway line, is part of the Barford Wood and Meadows nature reserve, managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

Barford Wood and Meadows or Barford Meadow Nature Reserve is a 36 hectare nature reserve east of Rushton in Northamptonshire. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. The north-eastern end is part of the River Ise and Meadows Site of Special Scientific Interest.The site was formerly part of the medieval Royal Forest of Rockingham. It has diverse habitats, with hay meadows, parkland and recently planted woodland. There are many butterflies such as large skippers, orange-tips, small skippers and small coppers. Mammals include baders and red foxes.There is access by a footpath from Rushton.
