St Nicholas Church, Kennett

Kennett is a small village and civil parish at the very eastern tip of Cambridgeshire, England. Situated around 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north-east of Newmarket and 4 miles (6.4 km) north-west of Bury St Edmunds, it falls into the county of Suffolk.

Kennett is a railway station serving the villages of Kennett in Cambridgeshire and Kentford in Suffolk, England. It opened in 1854 when the railway was extended from Newmarket to Bury St Edmunds. At its peak during the period 1860 to 1890 there was a station master and three other members of staff. From 1929 onwards the four station staff were replaced by a 'Porter-in-charge' until 1967.During a heavy storm in 1968, the original brick bridge that crosses the River Kennett east of the station was washed away isolating the line for several days whilst a new metal structure was constructed to replace it. The station closed to freight traffic on 28 December 1964, although a Speedlink rail service continued to serve the granary behind the station until the mid-1980s. Further east of the station a siding serves Lafarge aggregate, providing sugar stone for British Sugar. On 2 January 1967, the station became an unstaffed halt on the Cambridge-Ipswich line and the main station buildings were demolished in 1976 after being left derelict. Parts of the original building were retained to serve as storage for the signal box and line-side maintenance; these have since been demolished. The station buildings were typical of the line between Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket, and consisted of a two-story station master's house adjoining a small booking hall, similar to the extant buildings at Higham station.

Red Lodge Heath is a 20.8-hectare (51-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Red Lodge in Suffolk.Habitats on this site are chalk grassland, dry acid grassland, lichen heath, wet woodland and ponds. It has nationally important assemblages of rare plants and invertebrates, including a nationally important population of the nationally rare five-banded tailed digger wasp (Cerceris quinquefasciata), also commonly known as the Five-banded weevil-wasp. It has several other invertebrate species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, and plants include the nationally rare smooth rupturewort.There is access to the site from Turnpike Road.

Kentford is a village and civil parish located in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Situated on the banks of the River Kennet, the village is positioned on the B1506 road connecting Newmarket to Bury St. Edmunds. The village is served by the Kennett railway station, located just off the A14, which offers an indirect railway connection to London via Cambridge. Kentford is located about four miles northeast of Newmarket and nine miles west of Bury St. Edmunds. The village falls within the Bury St. Edmunds division of the county and is divided between the Lackford and Risbridge Hundred. Kentford is also part of the Newmarket petty sessional division, Mildenhall union and county court district, rural deanery of Newmarket, archdeaconry of Sudbury, and diocese of St. Edmundsbury and Ipswich. The population of Kentford was estimated to be 1125 as of 2021.

Moulton is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England, located close to the town of Newmarket. It pre-dates the 1086 Domesday book and, in 2005, it was estimated to have a population of 1090. 1,033 people were recorded at the 2011 census. The village is older than the now larger town of Newmarket and includes a 15th-century packhorse bridge spanning the River Kennett. This is one of two such bridges in Suffolk, with the other being located in the neighbouring village Kentford. The bridge is a grade II* listed structure Moulton also has a fine church, St. Peter's, with an early 14th-century tower topped by a gilded weather vane in the shape of a large pike by blacksmith Charles Poulter. Restored in 1851, it is a grade I listed building.

The Japanese government classified the school as a Shiritsu zaigai kyoiku shisetsu (私立在外教育施設) or an overseas branch of a Japanese private school. Shi-tennoji International Limited owned the school, and the organisation intended to develop Japan-United Kingdom relations with the school.

The Royal Worlington and Newmarket Golf Club is a golf club located near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, England. The nine-hole layout is consistently ranked in the top 100 courses in Britain and Ireland, and the "Sacred Nine" (as described by Bernard Darwin) is reputed to be the best nine-hole course in the world.The club was founded in 1893, and has been home to the Cambridge University Golf Club for over 100 years. Harry Colt was the first Cambridge Blue Captain in 1889. Many well-known and colourful amateur golfers have graced the club since and as one reviewer put it, "there seems more history per hole than at any other club in England".The course is known for its difficult green complexes, and sandy soil that allows for excellent conditioning even in the winter. Royal Worlington's nine-hole course includes two par fives, three par threes, and four par fours (par 35), and measures 3155 yards.

The club was founded in 1869, and the first University Golf Match was played against Oxford in 1878. Members who play in the University Golf Match are awarded a Full Blue, while those who play against Oxford for the Stymies are awarded Second Team Colours.
