Loch Restil

Glen Kinglas is a glen located on the Cowal Peninsula, in Argyll and Bute, west of Scotland. The glen is one of the main glens in the Arrochar Alps, the A83 road from Arrochar and Loch Lomond passes through the glen. At the north end of the glen, a pass leads to Glen Croe, passing Loch Restil. At the south of the glen the A815 road leaves the A83 and leads through the Cowal Peninsula to Dunoon on the Firth of Clyde coast. The A83 continues on past Cairndow and Loch Fyne Oysters to Inveraray and Inveraray Castle on Loch Fyne. The glen has the Kinglas Water running through it which runs under the Butter Bridge, one of the sources is Loch Restil, located in the pass between Glen Kinglas and Glen Croe. The Butter Bridge carpark in the glen, gives easy access to the hills and mountains in the area for hillwalkers and climbers. The glen gives access to Beinn an Lochain the highest peak on the Cowal peninsula at 901.7 metres (2,958 ft). The Mountain Bothies Association opened a Bothy within the glen in May 2022, called Abyssinia. Located at grid ref: NN 256 117, on Ordnance Survey map LR56. The glen is within the Argyll Forest Park and the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

Beinn an Lochain is a mountain in the Arrochar Alps in western Scotland. A Corbett, reaching 901.7 metres (2,958 ft), Beinn an Lochain is situated within the Argyll Forest Park, which is itself within the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Although included in Sir Hugh Munro's original list of Scottish mountains over 3,000 feet (914.4 metres) summit elevation, subsequent surveys showed it to be significantly shorter than this. Nonetheless, it remains a popular mountain, and is often quoted as an example of an interesting mountain below the Munro threshold to show that there is more to mountaineering in Scotland than just Munro-bagging. Beinn an Lochain is usually climbed from the car park at Butter Bridge, on the A83, in Glen Kinglas. From there, the summit is reached after a 2.5-kilometre (1+1⁄2 mi) walk along the mountain's north-east ridge, climbing over 700 metres (2,300 ft). The mountain trail offers views of Loch Restil and the pass between Glen Croe and Glen Kinglas.

Glen Mhor is a short glen located in the Arrochar Alps, within the Cowal Peninsula, Argyll and Bute, west of Scotland. The B828 goes through the glen, linking the top of Glen Croe (A83) at the Rest & be Thankful viewpoint in the east, in the west with the Hell's Glen (B839). The glen is in both the Argyll Forest Park and the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

Binnein an Fhidhleir, is one of the Arrochar Alps, a mountain in Argyll and Bute, western Scotland. Located in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Located above the Butter Bridge, on the north side the A83 road, facing Beinn an Lochain to the south. The mountain has several tops, including; Creag Bhrosgan 770.3 metres (2,527 ft); Stob Coire Creagach, which replaced Binnein an Fhidhleir as the Marilyn in April 2006, at 817 metres (2,680 ft). Later 817.8 metres (2,683 ft) in August 2021. One without any name at all at 748 metres (2,454 ft). Binnein an Fhidhleir itself, further to the west at 811 metres (2,661 ft). Although Stob Coire Creagach is the highest summit, the name Binnein an Fhidhleir is generally used for the whole mountain. The shortest route of ascent is directly up the hillside above Butter Bridge, where there is a carpark. A number of small crags must be avoided, and the route is steep and unrelenting. Alternatively, the mountain can be ascended from further up Glen Kinglas by way of Binnein an Fhidhleir's northern ridge: although longer this route is considerably less steep.

Ben Donich or Beinn Dòmhnaich is a mountain located in the Arrochar Alps, near Loch Goil in Argyll and Bute. It is a Corbett and part of the Ardgoil range with its sister The Brack. The closest settlement to Ben Donich is the village of Lochgoilhead. At 846.5 metres, Ben Donich is the highest mountain on the Ardgoil peninsula. It is a fairly extensive mountain, essentially a square pyramid with its summit at the centre of four ridges. Ben Donich can be accessed by any of its four ridges, but is almost entirely surrounded by forestry plantations in its lower slopes which makes access difficult. To the north-west a ridge runs down to Gleann Mòr, whilst a further ridge kicks off to the south of the summit, dropping down into the wooded glen containing the Donich Water river. By far the most frequented ridge is the south-east ridge which connects Ben Donich to The Brack via Bealach Dubh-lic at 384 metres where a footpath crosses over the ridge from Glen Croe to Lochgoilhead. A further insignificant ridge leads off the summit ridge to the north-east overlooking Glen Croe and the "Rest and be Thankful" summit on the A83. The slopes are moderate, and terrain is mainly grass with some rocky outcrops on steeper slopes. The summit (846.5 metres) of Ben Donich, at grid reference NN218043, also boasts an Ordnance Survey trig point.

Stob an Eas is a 2401 ft (732m) Graham in the Arrochar Alps, Argyll and Bute, Scotland.

Lochgoilhead (Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Loch Goibhle, IPA:[ˈkʰʲaun̴̪ˈɫ̪ɔxˈkɤilə]) is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is located within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. It stands at the head of Loch Goil.

The Shira Hydro-Electric Scheme is a project initiated by the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board to use the waters of the River Shira, the River Fyne and other small streams to generate hydroelectricity. It is located between Loch Fyne and Loch Awe in Argyll and Bute, western Scotland. It consists of three power stations and three impounding dams. The remoteness of the area in which the scheme was built required 15 miles (24 km) of access roads to be built before the main works could begin. The three dams were all of different types; a round headed buttress dam; a concrete gravity and earth fill dam; and the first ever use of a prestressed gravity dam. The construction of the earth fill dam was hindered by four months of extremely wet weather. Clachan was the first large underground power station that the Board built, while Sron Mor was the first implementation of a pumped storage scheme, built in anticipation of the arrival of nuclear power generation. The power stations were commissioned in 1953, 1955 and 1957, in advance of the completion of work on the dams.

Loch Fyne Oysters is a seafood and meat company that operates on the banks of Loch Fyne, Scotland. The company created the Loch Fyne Restaurants chain, which was later sold to Greene King. Loch Fyne Oysters still owns the Loch Fyne brand and supplies its products to the restaurant chain.

Cairndow (Scottish Gaelic: An Càrn Dubh) is a coastal hamlet in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The town lies between the A83 road and the head of Loch Fyne. Cairndow's school closed in 1988 after the roll fell to just 3 pupils. Now children in the area are sent to the primary school in Strachur and the secondary school in Dunoon. Medical facilities for the hamlet are provided by the GP in Strachur. Kilmorich Church at Cairndow was built in 1818 and is a category A listed building. After originating as an oyster farm in the loch, Loch Fyne Oysters opened its Loch Fyne Oyster Bar in 1988 at Clachan, across the head of the loch from Cairndow. The company has expanded into a restaurant chain, and the Oyster Bar continues to be a tourist attraction at Clachan, Cairndow.

Hell's Glen is a glen on the Cowal Peninsula, in the Arrochar Alps between the mountains Cruach nam Mult and Stob an Eas. To the west, it leads to Loch Fyne and to the east, the high mountain Ben Donich. The glen is within the Argyll Forest Park that is itself within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.The glen is named from its name in Gaelic, Glen Iarainn. This means "the Iron Glen" but sounds like the nearby Glen Ifhrinn which means "the Glen of Hell." The glen is also known as An Gleann Beag, "the small glen", in Scottish Gaelic.

Ardkinglas House is a Category A listed country house on the Ardkinglas Estate in Argyll, Scotland. The estate lies on the eastern shore of Loch Fyne, and the house is located close to the village of Cairndow. Dating back to the 14th century and originally a Campbell property, the estate now covers more than 12,000 acres (4,900 ha) of rolling hills and landscaped parkland. The centre of the estate was Ardkinglas Castle until this was replaced by a new house in the 18th century. This house was itself replaced by the present Ardkinglas House in the early 20th century, designed by Sir Robert Lorimer for Sir Andrew Noble. It remains the property of the Noble family, and is open to the public on a limited basis. The woodland gardens are open all year round.
