Louis J. and Harriet Rozier House

Central School Campus, also known as Central School and DeSoto High School, is a historic school complex located at De Soto, Jefferson County, Missouri. The Central School was built about 1882, and remodeled into its current form in 1950. It is a 2 1/2- to 3-story rectangular brick building. The DeSoto High School was built in 1927, and is a three-story, textured brick building with a flat roof and accented with limestone or cast stone ornament reflecting the Classical Revival style.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The Van Metre family were first to settle in 1803. The town was organized in 1857 and is named for the explorer Hernando De Soto, who claimed the Louisiana Territory for Spain. The city made national news on and after May 6, 2003, when straight-line winds and a tornado struck.

Missouri Route 21 passes between Briarwood Estates and De Soto, leading northeast 44 miles (71 km) to St. Louis and southwest 24 miles (39 km) to Potosi. Briarwood Estates was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

It is located approximately seven and a half miles south of De Soto. A variant name was "Blackwell Station". A post office called Blackwells Station was established in 1858, and the name was changed to Blackwell in 1885. The community has the name of Lavinia Blackwell and Margaret Blackwell, first settlers.
