Passumpsic is an unincorporated village in the town of Barnet, Caledonia County, Vermont, United States. The community is located along U.S. Route 5 and the Passumpsic River 3 miles (4.8 km) south of St. Johnsbury. Passumpsic has a post office with ZIP code 05861.

The Passumpsic Railroad was located in Barnet, Vermont. The railroad had the only operable steam locomotive in Vermont. Their steam engine was a two-truck Heisler that ran on the Phenix Marble Company. The Passumpsic Railroad was owned by Marvin Kendall and was located along route 5 south of St. Johnsbury. The railroad had or has the locomotive named Phenix Marble Company 1.

The Passumpsic River () is a 22.7-mile-long (36.5 km) tributary of the Connecticut River, in Vermont. Though primarily a Caledonia County river, it is the only river to flow through all three counties of the Northeast Kingdom.

Comerford Reservoir is a 1,029-acre (4 km2) impoundment located on the Connecticut River on the boundary between Vermont and New Hampshire in the United States. The reservoir is formed by the Frank D. Comerford Dam in the towns of Monroe, New Hampshire, and Barnet, Vermont, and impounds water into the towns of Littleton, New Hampshire, and Waterford, Vermont, nearly to the Moore Reservoir upstream on the Connecticut.

Frank D. Comerford Dam is an International Style concrete dam in the Fifteen Mile Falls of the Connecticut River, on the border between the U.S. states of New Hampshire and Vermont. The dam is near Monroe, New Hampshire and Barnet, Vermont. Construction began in 1928 and was completed in 1931. The dam and the power plant were acquired by a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec from Great River Hydro, LLC, in October 2022.Comerford Reservoir is the reservoir created behind the dam, named after Frank D. Comerford, president of the Connecticut River Power Company and the New England Power Company. Hydroelectric power plants have the ability to vary the amount of power generated, depending on the demand. Steam turbine power plants are not as easily "throttled" because of the amount of thermodynamic inertia contained in their systems.

The West View Farm is a historic farm property on Hastings Road (Town Highway 34) in Waterford, Vermont. The farm is unique for its distinctive round barn, built in 1903 to a design by St. Johnsbury architect Lambert Packard, and surviving 19th-century corn crib and smokehouse. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. It includes a round barn.

St. Johnsbury Academy (SJA) is an independent, private, coeducational, non-profit boarding and day school located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, in the United States. The academy enrolls students in grades 9-12. It was founded by Thaddeus Fairbanks, and accepts the majority of its students through one of the nation's oldest voucher systems. It has a sister school, St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju in Jeju Island, South Korea.

The Franklin Fairbanks House is a historic house at 357 Western Avenue in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. It was built in 1860 for Franklin Fairbanks, a prominent local businessman and philanthropist. The house is an excellent example of Italianate architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It now houses professional offices.

The William and Agnes Gilkerson Farm, also known more recently as the Kitchel Hill Farm, is a historic farmstead on Kitchel Hill Road in Barnet, Vermont. Established in the late 18th century by Scottish immigrants, it includes one of the finest known examples of a rubblestone farmhouse in the region. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Railroad Street Historic District encompasses a cluster of commercial and railroad-related buildings at the traditional late 19th-century heart of St. Johnsbury, Vermont. It includes five commercial buildings and the town's 1883 union depot, and is reflective of the town's importance as a major railroad junction in northern New England. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It was subsumed by the larger St. Johnsbury Historic District in 1980.

The St. Johnsbury Main Street Historic District encompasses the historic civic and cultural center of the town of St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Organized along the town's Main Street, it includes high-quality architecture spanning the 19th and early 20th centuries, and includes the National Historic Landmark St. Johnsbury Athenaeum. Many of the district's buildings were designed by Lambert Packard, a prominent local architect. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and was enlarged slightly in 1976. It was subsumed into the larger St. Johnsbury Historic District in 1980.

The St. Johnsbury Athenaeum (often written St. Johnsbury Athenæum) is a combined library and art gallery, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. The building in which it is housed is architecturally and historically significant because of its construction. The Athenaeum is also noted for the American landscape paintings and books in its collection and its having been funded by Horace Fairbanks, manufacturer of the world's first platform scale. The art collection contains a number of Hudson River School paintings. This building retains a strong Victorian (French Second Empire) flavor of the 19th century.
