Ossenzijl

Kalenberg (Low Saxon: Kaelebarg) is a tourist hamlet within the De Weerribben-Wieden National Park in the Dutch province of Overijssel. The hamlet belongs to the municipality of Steenwijkerland. It was first mentioned in 1845 as Kalemberg, and means "bare hill". Kalenberg started as a peat excavation village. Later, it became an agricultural community. In 1840, it was home to 272 people. Nowadays, the economy is mainly based on tourism due to its location inside the Weerribben-Wieden National Park.

Spanga (West Frisian: Spangea) is a village in Weststellingwerf in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 210 in 2017. The village was first mentioned in 1320 as Spangghe. The etymology is unclear. The Dutch Reformed church was demolished in 1831. In 1851, a bell tower was erected as its replacement. The tower was destroyed during a storm in 1954, and a new tower was built in 1955 which was replaced in 1989. Spanga was home to 121 people in 1840.

Nijetrijne (West Frisian: Nijetrine) is a small village in Weststellingwerf in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands, with a population of around 113 as of 2017. There are three windmills in the village; De Reiger, De Rietvink, and a tjasker, the Boktjasker.

IJsselham is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Steenwijkerland, about 12 km west of Steenwijk, and 2 km southwest of Oldemarkt. IJsselham lent its name to a former municipality, created in the merger of Blankenham, Kuinre, and Oldemarkt. The municipality merged with Steenwijk in 2001. It was first mentioned in 1245 as Sileham. Even though it seemingly relates to the IJssel River, there is no relation. In 1840, it was home to 123 people.

De Reiger (English: The Heron) is a smock mill in Nijetrijne, Friesland, Netherlands which was built in 1871. The mill has been converted into a holiday home. It is listed as a Rijksmonument.

De Rietvink (English: The Reed Warbler) is a smock mill in Nijetrijne, Friesland, Netherlands which was built in 1855 and ceased work in 1964. The mill had been converted into a holiday home, but was restored to working order in 2009. It is listed as a Rijksmonument.

Scherpenzeel (West Frisian: Skerpenseel) is a small village in the north of the Netherlands. It is located in Weststellingwerf, Friesland. Scherpenzeel had a population of around 450 in 2017. The village was first mentioned in 1245 as Scherpensele, and means either hall of Skarpo (person) or hall with pointy roof. The Dutch Reformed church dates from 1788 and has a tower from 1879. In 1840, Scherpenzeel was home to 92 people.

Munnekeburen (West Frisian: Munnikebuorren) is a village in Weststellingwerf in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 430 in 2017. The village was first mentioned in 1243 as Monkeburen, and means monk neighbourhood. The monks were from the Saint Odulphus monastery in Stavoren. Munnekeburen started as peat excavation settlement along the Padsloot. The Dutch Reformed church was rebuilt in 1806. It was extensively modified in 1860. Munnekeburen was home to 267 people in 1840, however that included a part of Langelille.

Oldemarkt (Stellingwerfs: Ooldemark) is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Steenwijkerland, about 12 km west of Steenwijk. Oldemarkt was a separate municipality until 1973, when it became a part of IJsselham.

Oldetrijne (West Frisian: Aldetrine) is a village in Weststellingwerf in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 210 in 2017. The village was first mentioned in 1320 as Ostrinde, and means "old border line". Olde (old) has been added to distinguish from Nijetrijne. Oldetrijne is a road village which developed along the Schoterzijl to Wolvega road. The Dutch Reformed church dates from 1870. In 1979, the church is also in use as the village house. Oldetrijne was home to 265 people in 1840.

Oldelamer (West Frisian: Aldlemmer) is a village in Weststellingwerf in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 230 in 2017.The village was first mentioned in 1320 as Oldenlameren. The etymology is unclear. Olde (old) has been added to distinguish from Nijelamer. The Dutch Reformed church dates from 1784. The little tower was added in 1869. On 14 September 2017, the spire broke in a storm, but was quickly repaired.Oldelamer was home to 315 people in 1840.

De Wicher is a drainage mill near the village of Kalenberg, Overijssel, Netherlands. It is a hollow post windmill of the type called spinnenkop by the Dutch. The mill is in working order and used to drain the reed beds during winter to improve accessibility for reed cutters.
