Marston Ferry Road

The Victoria Arms (known locally as the Vicky Arms and formerly as the Ferry Inn) is a pub on the eastern bank of the River Cherwell at the end of Mill Lane close to Old Marston, northeast of Oxford, England.There was once a ford across the Cherwell here, in use since the 12th century. An inn was originally constructed during the 17th century and was then rebuilt in 1840. It was closed in 1958 and bought by the Oxford Preservation Trust in 1961. Publicans Fred and Ruby Elkins took over the buildings and operated the pub as a free house. During this time they added extensions to the old buildings. They also operated the small wooden line-ferry across the Cherwell for many years before the opening of the link road. It was later leased to the brewery Wadworth's, refurbished, and reopened in 1986. The pub is frequented by people out punting during the summer. It is possible to moor punts in the grounds of the pub. There was a line-ferry across the river here until 1971, when the Marston Ferry Road was built just to the south.The Victoria Arms featured in the Inspector Morse television series a number of times. Most notably, Morse recited part of the A. E. Housman poem How Clear, How Lovely Bright here in the final episode of the series. A line from the poem was used for the title of the episode "The Remorseful Day".

The Cherwell Boathouse (also "Boat House") is a boathouse and restaurant on the River Cherwell in Oxford, England. It is located down a small lane off the junction between Chadlington Road and Bardwell Road, which itself is off the Banbury Road in North Oxford. The land was leased by the Oxford University Boat Club waterman Tom Tims from St John's College, Oxford for a landing stage for punts in 1901. The boathouse was built in 1904 and was known as Tims's for the first forty years. Punts and small rowing boats can be rented for use on the river. A restaurant and riverside café can be found on the same site. It is very popular with tourists and students in the summer. Upstream, punts can be taken to the Victoria Arms, Marston, a public house. Downstream, punts can be taken past the University Parks and Parson's Pleasure. Rollers must be used to take punts past the weir at that point to Mesopotamia. Immediately to the north of the Cherwell Boathouse is Wolfson College and to the south is the Dragon School. On the opposite bank to the east are water-meadows.

Wolfson College () is a constituent college of the University of Oxford in England. Located in north Oxford along the River Cherwell, Wolfson is an all-graduate college with around sixty governing body fellows, in addition to both research and junior research fellows. It caters to a wide range of subjects, from the humanities to the social and natural sciences. Like the majority of Oxford's newer colleges, it has been coeducational since its foundation in 1965. The liberal philosopher Sir Isaiah Berlin was the college's first president, and was instrumental not only in its founding, but establishing its tradition of academic excellence and egalitarianism. The college houses The Isaiah Berlin Literary Trust and hosts an annual Isaiah Berlin Lecture. From 2017, the president of the college has been Sir Tim Hitchens.As of 2021, the college had a financial endowment of £60.3 million. The college is registered as a charity.

Chadlington Road is a road in North Oxford, England.

Garford Road is a residential road in North Oxford, England.The road is a cul-de-sac and leads east off Charlbury Road. To the south is Linton Road and Wolfson College, Oxford, which has residences on the road. The houses on the road were mostly leased from St John's College in 1928–30, largely designed by Christopher Wright, who also designed houses in Belbroughton Road to the north. One of the houses is known as Garford House.

The Oxford Ring Road circles the city of Oxford, England. It is a dual carriageway ring road for most of its length apart from a short section between Woodstock Road and Banbury Road in the north of the city. The severe restrictions on traffic in Oxford city centre mean that it is the only practical way for long-distance traffic to get past Oxford, especially as there are few road bridges over the rivers Isis and Cherwell. Five Park and Rides are close to the ring road.

Charlbury Road is a road in North Oxford, England, running to the east of and parallel with the Banbury Road.At the southern end of the road there is a junction with Bardwell Road, close to the Dragon School. 1, 3, 5 and 7 Charlbury Road is one of the Dragon School boarding houses. Linton Road crosses Charlbury Road about halfway up. Garford Road leads east off the road. At the northern end is a junction with Belbroughton Road to the west. The main entrance to the Oxford High School, an academically selective private school for girls, is located here. Charlbury Road takes a sharp right turn at this point and continues east to a new estate of houses. To the west running parallel with Charlbury Road is Northmoor Road.

The Swan School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Marston, Oxford. The school opened in September 2019 and was Oxford's first new secondary school in more than 50 years. The Swan is part of the River Learning Trust which also includes nearby Cherwell School.The school has a capacity of 1,260 pupils. Admissions first started with an intake of 120 students in September 2019, into temporary accommodation. New premises were constructed on Marston Ferry Road and the school moved in September 2020. The school has a teaching complement of 15.

New College School (officially St Mary's College School) is a private preparatory school for boys aged 4 to 13 in Oxford. It was founded in 1379 by William of Wykeham to provide for the education of 16 choristers for the chapel of New College, Oxford.

The Dragon School is one school on two sites in Oxford, England. The Dragon Pre-Prep (children aged 4–7) and Prep School (children aged 8–13) are both co-educational schools. The Dragon Prep School was founded in 1877 as the Oxford Preparatory School. It takes day pupils and boarders. Originally established for boys, the Dragon School also accepted a small number of day girls with a close connection to the school, first admitting girls as boarders in 1994. The Dragon School is a feeder school to many independent schools, including Winchester College, Eton College, Shrewsbury School, Oundle School, Cheltenham Ladies' College, Harrow School, Radley College, Rugby School, Marlborough College, Wellington College, Canford School, St Edward's School, Oxford, Stowe School and Abingdon School. The Dragon educates children from aged 4 to 13 in two sites in North Oxford: Bardwell Road and Richards Lane. Boarding starts at 8 and there are 10 boarding houses, including one weekly-boarding house. Dragon Lane runs along the edge of the school immediately to the west.

Oxford High School is a private day school for girls in Oxford, England. It was founded by the Girls' Day School Trust in 1875, making it the city's oldest girls' school.
