The forest is managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation for timber resources and wildlife habitat. Activities in the park include bird watching, hunting, snowshoeing, berry picking, and cross country skiing.

The Chamberlin (or Chamberlain) Mill Covered Bridge, also called Chamberlin Covered Bridge or Whitcomb Covered Bridge, is a historic covered bridge that carries Chamberlain Bridge Road across the South Wheelock Branch of the Passumpsic River in Lyndon, Vermont. Built in 1881, it is one of five similar area bridges. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

It occupies the valley of the South Wheelock Branch, an east-flowing tributary of the Passumpsic River and part of the Connecticut River watershed. U.S. Route 5 (Memorial Drive) passes through the east side of the village, and Interstate 91 forms the CDP's eastern edge. The two highways intersect at I-91's Exit 23 at the northeast corner of the village. US-5 leads north across the Passumpsic River 1 mile (1.6 km) into Lyndonville, the largest village in the town of Lyndon, and south 7 miles (11 km) to St. Johnsbury, while I-91 leads north 35 miles (56 km) to Newport and south past St. Johnsbury 66 miles (106 km) to White River Junction.

The Old Schoolhouse Bridge is a historic covered bridge spanning the South Wheelock Branch of the Passumpsic River in Lyndon, Vermont. It is located just south of South Wheelock Road, which it formerly carried. Built in 1871, it is one five similar bridges in Lyndon. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Darling Inn is a historic former hotel building in the center of Lyndonville, Vermont. Built in 1927–28, it is a rare example in the state of an architecturally neo-Federal building, and one of the last major constructions during the state's Colonial Revival period. Now converted to a senior care facility, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Mathewson Block is a historic commercial building at 101 Main Street in the center of Lyndonville, Vermont. Built in 1869, it was the first brick commercial building erected in Lyndonville, which was founded in 1866. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

The town contains five unincorporated villages, Lyndonville just east of the geographic center of town, Lyndon Corner in the south, Lyndon Center in the center of town on the west side of Lyndonville, Little Egypt in the north, and East Lyndon in the southeast. Lyndon is the second-most populous town in the Northeast Kingdom; only neighboring St. Johnsbury is larger. The Centre Covered Bridge, also known as the Sanborn Covered Bridge, is a historic covered bridge, spanning the Passumpsic River next to U.S. Route 5 (US 5) north of the village of Lyndonville, Vermont. Built in 1872, it was moved to its present location and taken out of service in 1960. The bridge was located on Center Street between Lyndonville and Lyndon Center. It is one of three surviving Paddle-Ford truss bridges in Vermont. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Lyndon Institute is a coeducational, nonprofit, independent, day and boarding comprehensive high school located on a 52 acres (21 ha) campus in the village of Lyndon Center, in the town of Lyndon, Vermont. It provides education for grades 9 through 12 for both local students and students resident on campus. Tuition is $45 000 for full boarders and $16,825 for day students. The current head of school is Dr. Brian Bloomfield.

The District 6 School House is a historic school building at 73 Cemetery Circle in Lyndon, Vermont. Built in 1857, it served as a school until 1900, and saw use in the 20th century as a garage, storage facility, and museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
