St. Joseph's is the oldest Catholic parish in Salem, Oregon. It currently serves some 3,500 families and conducts services in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Latin. The parish school staff has been recognized for excellence in education as recently as 2005.

The Fallen Worker Memorial is a memorial commemorating workers killed on the job, installed outside the state Labor and Industries building near the Oregon State Capitol in Salem, Oregon, United States. The memorial, which was proposed by Oregon AFL–CIO, approved by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, and dedicated in April 2009, features a bronze plaque and benches, cheery trees, and additional landscaping adjacent to the Labor and Industries Building. Construction cost approximately $20,000 and was funded by donations. The site has hosted services in observance of Workers' Memorial Day.

Waldo Park is a municipal park, located in downtown Salem, Oregon, United States. It is one of the smallest city parks in the world, measuring 12 by 20 feet (3.7 by 6.1 m). The park consists of a giant sequoia (one of the biggest tree species in the world) surrounded by landscaping and marked with a plaque and sign. The park is named for the 19th-century lawyer and Marion County judge William Waldo, who planted the tree on his property in 1872. Waldo later sold his property to the city, under condition that the tree be preserved. In 1936, the tree was made into a city park as a result of activism by the American War Mothers, with the support of prominent Salem citizens. The tree is located at the intersection of Union and Summer streets, with Summer Street, a major Salem thoroughfare, temporarily reduced in width to make room for the tree. The tree currently reaches a height of 82 feet (25 m). It is a designated Oregon Heritage Tree.

Sprague Fountain, also known as the Capitol Fountain, is an outdoor bronze fountain and sculpture installed in the Capitol Mall area on the Oregon State Capitol grounds in Salem, Oregon, United States. The fountain was donated by Governor Charles A. Sprague to commemorate water and dedicated in 1980.

The agency was created in 1945 by the Oregon Legislative Assembly in response to popular citizen support for provide benefits and services to Oregon soldiers, sailors and airmen returning from World War II. Oregon Business Development Department is an agency of the government of the U.S. state of Oregon, also known as Business Oregon, providing support of economic and community development and cultural enhancement through administration of a variety of programs of incentives, financial support, and technical assistance to businesses, nonprofit organizations and community groups, industries, and local and regional governments and districts. It is governed by a nine-member commission, appointed by the governor, which guides department policies and strategies to implement its mission: to create, retain, expand and attract businesses that provide sustainable, living wage jobs for Oregonians through public-private partnerships, leveraged funding and support of economic opportunities for Oregon companies and entrepreneurs. The Wall of Water is a fountain on the Oregon State Capitol grounds, in Salem, Oregon, United States.It was installed in 1990 along Court Street across from the building's main entrance, and its plaza features engraved slabs about Oregon's folklore and history. The fountain uses recycled water and can shoot 12 feet into the air.

The Korean War Memorial is a monument commemorating those who fought in the Korean War, installed outside the Veterans Building in Salem, Oregon, United States, which houses the offices of the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs.

The Oregon World War II Memorial to Oregon veterans of World War II, is located the grounds of the Oregon State Capitol, in Salem, Oregon, United States. Nine memorial plaques recount the stories of action of Oregon Army, Marines, Navy, Air Corps, National Guard, and civilians. A memorial wall records the names of those killed in action. A granite pavement featuring an inscribed world map, with stars indicating the theaters of war where Oregon soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen served, surrounding an obelisk which is blank and unadorned. It was dedicated on June 6, 2014.

The Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission is a volunteer state board established in 2011 in the U.S. state of Oregon, with responsibilities for advising the governor, the legislature and the Chief Education Office on statewide postsecondary education policies and funding. The fifteen-member commission has authorities for "development of biennial budget recommendations for public postsecondary education in Oregon, making funding allocations to Oregon's public community colleges and public universities, approving new academic programs for the public institutions, allocating Oregon Opportunity Grants (state need-based student aid), authorizing degrees that are proposed by private and out-of-state (distance) providers, licensing private career and trade schools, overseeing programs for veterans, and additional legislative directives".
