Tennenbach Abbey

The Hochburg ("high castle") is a castle ruin situated between the city of Emmendingen and the village of Sexau in the region of Baden, located in the southwest of Germany. It was presumably built in the 11th century and was originally known as castle Hachberg. The line of nobles known as the Margraves of Baden-Hachberg most likely derive their name from this castle and before it was razed by the French it was the second largest fortification in Baden.

Freiamt is a town in the district of Emmendingen in Baden-Württemberg in Germany.

The Caroline Pit (German: Grube Caroline) in the Eberbächle, a side valley of the Brettenbach, is an old silver mine in Sexau in the Black Forest in Germany which is open to the public as a show mine. In 1987, volunteers began to uncover the pit and maintain it. It lies within the mining region of Sexau and Freiamt. The oldest parts of the Caroline Pit date with some certainty to the 11th to 13th centuries, but these are the uppermost levels. There are no definite clues to older operation, for example in Roman times. The majority of the pit's buildings and structures, including the shafts and galleries date to the 16th century. Especially noteworthy is the original forging die on the sixth level of the mine which has survived with its wooden frame and winch supports; it has been dated dendrochronologically to 1528/30. The last significant phase of operation took place between 1771 and 1794. The name of the mine also dates to this period: it is named after Caroline Louise of Hesse (1723–1783), the wife of the Margrave of Baden, Charles Frederick.

The Eichberg Tower is an observation tower on the 369 m high Eichberg mountain above the city of Emmendingen. The tower platform sits 10 m above the surrounding oak forest, and its top over 17 mm making it the highest observation tower in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The tower, created by an association of citizens formed in 1999, was handed over to the city of Emmendingen on September 17, 2005 and is now open to the public.

The Hornberg is a hill in the northern Breisgau in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is an outlier of the Black Forest, running as a north-south ridge between the villages of Windenreute, Kollmarsreute and Sexau into the Upper Rhine Plain. At its northern end is the Hochburg, one of the largest fortresses in South Baden. At its highest point the Hornberg almost reaches a height of 357 metres.

The Jewish Museum in Emmendingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, was opened on April 13, 1997, in a half-timbered house on Castle Square in the city center in the immediate vicinity of the former synagogue that was destroyed in 1938. In the basement one can visit the nineteenth century mikvah that was restored and is a protected monument. On the ground floor there is an exhibition on the history of the Jewish community in Emmendingen between 1716 and 1940. The fate of Emmendingen Jews under the Nazi regime is clearly documented. Moreover, the museum displays objects regarding Jewish religious and everyday life. Jewish holidays during the course of the year are explained in detail. On the upper floor there is a reading and meeting room with literature and videos about Judaism and Jewish history.

Wasser is a village in southwest Germany, in the Upper Rhine Valley, located at the Elz River. In June 2005, Wasser had 1717 inhabitants. In the mid-1970s it was part incorporated into the city of Emmendingen.

It is located at the Elz River, 14 km (8.7 mi) north of Freiburg im Breisgau. The town contains more than 26,000 residents, which is the most in the Emmendingen district.

Emmendingen station is a station in Emmendingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was opened with the section of the Rhine Valley Railway from Offenburg to Freiburg on 1 August 1845.
