The Walnut Street Historic District is a national historic district located in Springfield, Missouri, United States. The district encompasses more than 150 one and two story frame, brick, cast-stone, or stone dwellings in a thirteen block area. The district includes parts of East Walnut Street, East Elm Street, East McDaniel Street, Cordova Court, South Hampton Avenue, South Florence Avenue, and South National Avenue. The district developed between about 1870 and 1940, with 21 buildings surviving from before 1900, and 59 buildings dating between 1901 and 1910.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, with a boundary decrease in 2001 and boundary increase in 2002.

Evangel University is a private Christian university and seminary in Springfield, Missouri. It is affiliated with the Assemblies of God Christian denomination, which is also headquartered in Springfield. The campus sits on 80 acres (32 hectares) that were originally part of O'Reilly General Hospital.

The Pythian Home of Missouri, also known as Pythian Castle, in Springfield, Missouri, was built in 1913 by the Knights of Pythias and later owned by the U.S. military. German and Italian prisoners-of-war were assigned here during World War II for medical treatment and as laborers. Some prisoners were kept in the detached powerhouse and laundry room behind the castle. The laundry room is still owned by the U.S. Army. The building was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 7, 2009. It is privately owned and open to the public for tours by appointment.

Rountree is a neighborhood in central Springfield, Missouri. The neighborhood's borders are marked by Missouri State University to the west, Glenstone Avenue to the east, Catalpa Street to the south, and Cherry Street to the north. Rountree is predominantly residential, but is home to several popular restaurants, bakeries, and other businesses. The majority of homes in Rountree were constructed during the 1910s and 1920s. Architecture in the neighborhood is diverse, with many examples of Craftsman, Foursquare, and Federalist styles. Rountree, like other neighborhoods in central Springfield, is markedly more liberal in its voting patterns than other parts of the city. This may be due to its close proximity to the Missouri State University campus. The neighborhood's name derives from the N.M. Rountree Elementary School, located within the neighborhood on Grand Street. The school, in turn, is named the founder of the historic Keet-Rountree store in Springfield. The neighborhood hosts annual Fourth of July and Halloween parades that draw hundreds from around the city. Rountree is regularly ranked by 417 Magazine as among Springfield's best neighborhoods.

Edward M. and Della C. Wilhoit House is a historic home located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. It was built in 1916, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, rectangular Georgian Revival style brick dwelling. It features a one-story gabled-roof portico with a triangular pediment supported by limestone pilasters and columns with Tuscan order capitals and a sun porch. Also on the property is he contributing one-story, three-bay brick garage. It was built by Edward M. Wilhoit, who also built the E. M. Wilhoit Building.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Cooper Tennis Complex is a tennis center located in Springfield, Greene County, Missouri, with an entrance at 2331 East Pythian Street.The complex opened in 1994. Mediacom Stadium, home of the Springfield Lasers of World TeamTennis since 1996, is located within the complex. The stadium has a seating capacity of 2,500 people. In addition to the stadium, the complex has 16 other outdoor lighted courts and 12 indoor courts. There are also a full-service pro shop offering racquet stringing and grip services, locker rooms with showers, a fitness room with exercise equipment and free weights, a conference room and a meeting area located on the complex grounds. Programs and lessons are available for all ages and skill levels.The complex's tennis courts are available to the public for a fee. Discounted rates and, in some cases, free court time are available to those who hold annual or summer memberships.In addition to being the home of the Springfield Lasers, the complex is also the home of the Missouri State Bears college tennis team and has hosted Fed Cup matches, Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournaments, the 1997 and 1998 NCAA Men's Division II and NCAA Women's Division II championships, national 12 and under championships, Missouri State High School Activities Association championships and various United States Tennis Association (USTA) programs.

Ambassador Apartments is a historic apartment building located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. It was built in 1928, and is a four-story Commercial Block apartment building with a flat roof, red brick walls and simple Tudor style stone accents. The building houses 33 studio and one bedroom apartments. Also on the property is a contributing small ceramic block garage built about 1933.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Springfield Furniture Company, also known as the General Warehouse Corp., is a historic manufacturing complex located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. The original sections were built about 1895, and expanded through 1933. The complex consists of two large brick factory buildings with brick walls, flat roofs, and little architectural detailing.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The Springfield Three refers to an unsolved missing persons case that began on June 7, 1992, when friends Suzanne "Suzie" Streeter and Stacy McCall, and Streeter's mother, Sherrill Levitt, went missing from Levitt's home in Springfield, Missouri, United States. All of their personal belongings, including cars and purses, were left behind. There were no signs of a struggle except a broken porch light globe; there was also a message on the answering machine that police believe might have provided a clue about the disappearances, but it was inadvertently erased. In 1997, Robert Craig Cox, a convicted kidnapper and robber, claimed that he knew the women had been murdered and that their bodies would never be recovered. Neither their whereabouts nor their remains have ever been discovered. No investigators in the case believe Cox has any credibility.

Hammons Field is a minor league baseball stadium located in Springfield, Missouri, with a capacity of 7,986 plus approximately 2,500 general admission seating. The facility, funded entirely by local businessman, hotel mogul and benefactor John Q. Hammons, is the centerpiece of the midtown development project, Jordan Valley Park, on the corner of Sherman Avenue and Trafficway Boulevard. Completed in April 2004, it is home to the Springfield Cardinals, the Texas League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals as well as the Missouri State University Bears. Hammons built the ballpark before he had a minor league team secured to play in the stadium, though he steadfastly assured local residents it would be the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was ultimately able to persuade the Cardinals to purchase the El Paso Diablos franchise of the Texas League from the Brett Bros. and relocate it to Springfield. They became the Springfield Cardinals soon thereafter when the parent club ended its brief two-year affiliation with the Tennessee Smokies of the Southern League. In February 2023, the city of Springfield purchased Hammons Field and its surrounding parking lots for $12 million with plans to spend $4 million on stadium improvements.
