The starion was also on the former Shirebrook North to Nottingham Victoria Line and the Sheffield District Railway. The station has since been demolished and housing now occupies parts of the site with some stub rails nearby serving a train scrapper.

Close to the boundaries with the districts of Mansfield and Bassetlaw of Nottinghamshire, it had a population of 13,300 in 2001, reducing to 9,760 at the 2011 Census. It is on the B6407, and close to the A632 road, between Mansfield and Bolsover. The town is served by Shirebrook railway station, on the Robin Hood Line.

Nether Langwith is a village and civil parish, in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire, England. It is located 9 miles (14 km) east of Chesterfield and 8 miles (13 km) south west of Worksop. Nether Langwith lies east of the adjoining village, Langwith, which is in the district of Bolsover, Derbyshire, England. It is 527 hectares in size and lies on the banks of the River Poulter. The population at the 2011 census was 526.The local church is St Luke of Whaley Thorns, which was built in 1879 by J.B Mitchell-Withers. Whaley Thorns lies just north of Nether Langwith and 5 miles (8.0 km) of Bolsover. In 1924 it became a separate parish, but before then it was joined with the parish of Bolsover, of which St Mary's was the local church. St Luke's was a daughter church of St Mary's, of which there were three other daughter churches, St Winifred's in New Bolsover, St Peter's in Stanfree, St Laurence's at Shuttlewood. Of all of the daughter parish's, St Luke's is the only one to remain open. The village has two public houses, the Jug & Glass, on the Queens Walk at the centre of the village and the Gate Hotel, found on Main Road. The village has a coffee shop, named The Lemon Tree, located on Main Road – which has a very high customer rating. Lying just east of the village is Langwith Lodge, a fine pseudo Queen Anne style stately home, now a Nursing Home.

It is 120 miles (190 km) north west of London, 17+1⁄2 miles (28.2 km) north of the county town and city of Nottingham, and 4+1⁄4 miles (6.8 km) north of the town of Mansfield. It is in the civil parish of Warsop. Warsop Vale's heritage is primarily as a former mining village. It lies in the very picturesque area known as the Dukeries and is easily accessible to Clumber Park, Thoresby Park and hall, Rufford Park and the Earl of Portland estate of Welbeck, together all part of Sherwood Forest.

Sookholme is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Warsop in the Mansfield district of western Nottinghamshire, England. It is 120 miles (190 km) north west of London, 16+3⁄4 miles (27.0 km) north of the county town and city of Nottingham, and 3+1⁄2 miles (5.6 km) north of the town of Mansfield. It retains an agricultural character, having been largely unaffected by the Industrial Revolution, which had a transformative impact on the settlement pattern and built form of numerous other settlements situated within the North Midlands coalfields. Whilst relatively close to the built up areas of Mansfield and Shirebrook, Sookholme is remote and rural. In 1931 the parish had a population of 210.
