The West Dummerston Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge spanning the West River in Dummerston, Vermont, between Vermont Route 30 and Camp Arden Road. Built in 1872, it is at 280 feet (85 m) the longest covered bridge entirely within the state of Vermont. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

West Dummerston is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Dummerston, Windham County, Vermont, United States. Williamsville is an unincorporated community in the town of Newfane in Windham County, Vermont, United States. Rock River passes through the community, which lies in the Green Mountains. The Historical Society of Windham County, and its constituent Windham County Museum, is a local historical society formed in 1927 to record and study the history of Windham County, Vermont. The organization was founded by Clara Chipman Newton, and subsequently incorporated in 1933. Subsequently, the organization built its current museum, starting in 1936 in Newfane, VT, and the museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The society also holds a biannual "Windham County History Fair" in Newfaine.In 2015, the society purchased the remaining Newfane station, one of the last buildings left over from the West River Railroad, to preserve the history of the railroad and to create a "West River Railroad Museum.

The Rice Farm Road Bridge is a historic bridge in Dummerston, Vermont. It is an iron Warren through truss, spanning the West River between Vermont Route 30 and Rice Farm Road. Built in 1892, it is one of the state's oldest surviving metal truss bridges. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Newfane is an incorporated village in the town of Newfane in Windham County, Vermont, United States. The population was 87 at the 2020 census.Most of the village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as the Newfane Village Historic District. It is centered on the village green. It includes over 60 buildings. Greek Revival is the dominant architectural style. The Windham County Courthouse, which was built in 1825, is included in the district. Also, the Historical Society of Windham County is headquartered in the town.

It is one of the 108 one- or two-member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Windham-6 District includes all of the Windham County towns of Marlboro, Newfane, and Townshend. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Windham-6 District had a population of 3,807 in that same census, 6.21% below the state average.

The Williamsville Covered Bridge is a historic covered bridge, carrying Dover Road over the Rock River in Newfane, Vermont. Probably built in the 1870s, this Town lattice truss bridge is probably the oldest covered bridge in Windham County, and is the only one surviving in the town of Newfane. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Brookline-Newfane Bridge is a historic bridge spanning the West River between Brookline and Newfane, Vermont on Grassy Brook Road. It is a camelback through truss bridge, built in 1928 by the Berlin Construction Company in the wake of Vermont's devastating 1927 floods. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007 as Bridge 19, at which time it was one of seven surviving camelback bridges in the state. It last underwent a major rehabilitation in 2003-4.

Newfane is the shire town (county seat) of Windham County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,645 at the 2020 census. The town includes the villages of Newfane, Williamsville, and South Newfane.
