The 2008 Indian Premier League Final was a day/night Twenty20 cricket match played between the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings on 1 June 2008 at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai to determine the winner of the 2008 Indian Premier League, a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India. It ended as the Royals defeated the Super Kings by three wickets. The Royals, captained by Shane Warne, topped the group stage table, whereas the Super Kings, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, stood at the third position. They had defeated the Delhi Daredevils and the Kings XI Punjab respectively in the semi-finals. Winning the toss, Royals' captain Shane Warne opted to field first. The Super Kings scored 163 runs in 20 overs with a loss of 5 wickets. Batting at number three, Suresh Raina top scored for the Super Kings with 43 runs. Royals' bowler Yusuf Pathan took three wickets for 22 runs. The Royals failed to build a good opening partnership. However, due to contributions from the middle order, it reached the winning total in the last ball and earned the 2008 Indian Premier League title. Pathan, who was the best performer for the Royals with both bat and ball, was named the man of the match.

The DY Patil Stadium, (also known as DY Patil Sports Stadium), is a multi-purpose sports stadium in the DY Patil Sports Academy (DYPSA) at Nerul in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is a privately owned arena, being the home of the DYPSA. Primarily a cricket stadium, it is, however, sometimes used for football, music concerts and special events. The arena was officially inaugurated on 4 March 2008 and was briefly the home ground for IPL team Mumbai Indians. It hosted three IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians and has also hosted the 2008 Indian Premier League Final and 2010 Indian Premier League final. It hosted many games of 2022 IPL.The stadium has also hosted football matches during the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup. In 2014, it was announced that the stadium will be the home ground of the Indian Super League club Mumbai City FC. It has also hosted the Final of Hero ISL 2014 between Atlético de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters FC. The capacity of 55,000 makes it the ninth-largest cricket stadium in India. The stadium makes use of bucket seats and cantilever roofs that eliminate the need for columns. This provides the spectators with an unobstructed view of the match from any place within the stands. On the other hand, the stadium has a 120-person capacity air-conditioned media center. The upper level of the viewing galleries has 60 private corporate boxes.This stadium also holds an inter-school cricket match for DY Patil International school every year. The arena is set to host games of the upcoming Women's Premier League in March.

Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT) is a private engineering college located in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, India. It was established in the year 1983. The institute is approved by the Government of Maharashtra and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Since 2020-21, the institute has been affiliated to Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Navi Mumbai. The Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Telecommunications departments have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). St. Xavier's High School, Nerul (estd. 1985) is one of the first schools established in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, India. It is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra and affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, i.e., S.S.C. and H.S.C.(Science). The school provides education in English,and Semi English mediums of instruction. The Jama Masjid Nerul or Nerul Aalami Markaz is a mosque located in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is the oldest, largest mosque in Nerul & one of the main mosques of Navi Mumbai. It serves as the headquarter for the shura faction of the Tablighi Jamaat and is led by scholars like Ahmad Laat and Ebrahim Dewla.The leadership of the Tablighi Jamat was split in 2015 when Muhammad Saad Kandhlawi claimed to be the sole leader of Tablighi Jamat. It ended up in two groups, one being headed by Kandhlawi at Nizamuddin Markaz Mosque and other being headed by the shura, with its place at Nerul, Maharashtra.

Nerul (Pronunciation: [neɾuːɭ]) is an upmarket residential and commercial node in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Nerul is located in the Harbour Line, Trans-Harbour Lines and Nerul-Uran Line of Mumbai local train network where Kharghar and Vashi are the nearby stations. Nerul node is also famous for its parallel-running Palm-Beach Marg. Nerul is quite famous for its gardens like the Rock Garden and state of the art building structures.

Nerul is a railway station on the Harbour Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. Around 100,000 people travel from Nerul towards Mumbai CST and around 50,000 people travel in the Panvel direction every day. Nerul station has become a terminus point for Uran trains. Nerul is a terminal station for some trains going towards Thane.
