The 2023 U.S. Senior Women's Open took place August 24–27 at Waverley Country Club in Portland, Oregon, and was the fifth U.S. Senior Women's Open. It was a professional golf tournament organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA), open to women over 50 years of age and one of two yearly senior women's major golf championships.Prize fund was, as of each of the previous four championships held, $1,000,000 with $180,000 going to the winner. All professionals who missed the cut were paid $2,000 each.

Berry Botanic Garden was a botanical garden in southwest Portland, Oregon, in the United States. In addition to large collections of alpine plants, rhododendrons, primulas, and lilies, it was known for its plant-conservation program and its large seed bank that protects rare or endangered plants of the Pacific Northwest. The seed bank, formally established in 1983, was thought to be the first in the U.S. that was devoted entirely to preserving rare native plants. The garden, created in the 1930s by Portland resident Rae Selling Berry, was bought after her death in 1976 by The Friends of Berry Botanic Garden, a nonprofit corporation. Managed by a board of directors, the Berry estate had an area of 6.5 acres (26,000 m2), and contained the largest public rock garden on the West Coast.In January 2010, The Berry Botanic Garden Board of Directors announced plans to sell the property and close the garden because of funding problems. The property was sold in February 2011, and in November 2011 the BBG conservation program and seed bank, now known as the Rae Selling Berry Seed Bank & Plant Conservation Program, completed the transfer to the Environmental Science and Management Program at Portland State University.

The Portland Railway, Light and Power Sellwood Division Carbarn Office and Clubhouse, also known as Carmen's Clubhouse, in southeast Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon, is a former commercial transportation building listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Built in 1910 by the Portland Railway, Light and Power Company (PRL&P), it was added to the register in 2002. The structure was associated with Portland's street railway and interurban system of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Employees of PRL&P's transit division often worked 365 days a year and were expected to perform a variety of tasks including selling tickets, collecting fares, operating and cleaning streetcars, and writing reports. The clubhouse offered a few amenities for these workers. Although the first floor of the two-story building was used mainly for the trainmaster's office, a lost-and-found department, and record storage, it also included three shower-baths and a toilet. On the second floor were billiard tables, a gin rummy table, emergency sleeping rooms, and a reading room with books, desks, and writing materials. The furnace was in the basement, which also contained a toilet and a set of safe deposit boxes.

York: Terra Incognita is an outdoor monument by Alison Saar, installed near the Aubrey Watzek Library on the Lewis & Clark College campus, in Portland, Oregon. The brass sculpture commemorates York, an African-American explorer best known for his participation with the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and was dedicated on May 8, 2010. The 6-foot (1.8 m) statue rests on an approximately 2-foot (0.61 m) bronze base.

Lewis & Clark College is a private liberal arts college in Portland, Oregon. Originally chartered in 1867 as the Albany Collegiate Institute in Albany, Oregon, the college was relocated to Portland in 1938 and in 1942 adopted the name Lewis & Clark College after the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Contemporarily, it has an undergraduate College of Arts and Sciences, a School of Law, and a Graduate School of Education and Counseling. The M. Lloyd Frank Estate, also known as the Frank Manor House, is an historic building on campus of Lewis & Clark College, in Portland, Oregon. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.It was the first architectural commission that Herman Brookman received, having just moved to Portland in 1923 or 1924. The house was completed in 1926 by the McHolland Brothers construction company. The roof is composed of Pennsylvania slate.On the property, which was 63 acres (25 ha), near the conservatory (which was severely damaged in the Columbus Day Storm of 1962), is a metal gate designed by Oscar Bach. Bach designed other metalwork as well. Brookman designed the majority of the estate.
