Little Downham Local Nature Reserve

Situated in the east of Cambridgeshire, the village of Little Downham is located just 3 miles (5 km) north of the city of Ely. The Parish of Downham comprises Little Downham and Pymoor. It has an approximate population of 2660 with approximately 35 miles for footpaths around the parish. The population was measured at the 2011 Census as 2,589. It was one of only two sites in Cambridgeshire to be covered by the Survey of English Dialects. In the Domesday Book of 1086 the village is called Duneham. At the time the Fens were mostly flooded, and the village is on a small rise of solid ground (visible today), so there may have been 'dunes' there. In a map from 1648 (above), 'Downham' is shown at the north-west edge of the Isle of Ely, hence its historic name of 'Downham-in-the-Isle'.

Ely City Football Club is a football club based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. They are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Premier Division and play at the Unwin Sports Ground.

Black Bank railway station was a railway station in Black Bank, Cambridgeshire which is now closed. The station platforms have been demolished but the goods shed still stands and remains in use. Although the station is closed, the line is still in use.

Chettisham Meadow is a 0.7-hectare (1.7-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Chettisham, 3 km (2 mi) north of Ely in Cambridgeshire. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.The site is grassland on calcareous clay, and evidence survives of ridge and furrow medieval farming. Flowering plants include adder's tongue, cowslip and the uncommon green-winged orchid.There is access from Church Farm on the road called The Hamlet, by a track which crosses the A10, and curves to meet the track called The Balk. A footpath from the point where the two tracks meet leads to the reserve entrance.

Coveney is a village northwest of Ely in Cambridgeshire. Coveney is on a small Fen 'island' rising to 43 feet (13 m) above sea level, some 3.5 miles (6 km) west from Ely city as the crow flies, but nearly twice that distance by the main road. The village is situated on a by-road which leaves the main Ely–Chatteris road at Wentworth crossroads, about 2 miles (3 km) south. This by-road, which has a branch to the hamlet of Wardy Hill, 1 mile (2 km) west of Coveney village, used to be the only metalled road into the parish. But the droves across Ely West Fen, by Frogs Abbey, to Downham Hythe, and from Wardy Hill to Witcham have recently been made up for wheeled traffic. The Church of England parish church of St Peter ad Vincula is a Grade I listed building.Several artefacts from the late Bronze Age have been found here, including bronze axes, shields and a few swords.

St Etheldreda's Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. It is part of the Diocese of East Anglia within the Province of Westminster. The church notably contains the shrine and relics of St Etheldreda, an Anglo-Saxon queen and abbess who died on 23 June AD 679 and went on to become one of the most popular of the medieval saints in England. She has even been described as one of "the most significant of all native English Saints."

Oliver Cromwell's House in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England was the family home of Oliver Cromwell. The kitchen dates from around 1215, other parts being built later. The house was the vicarage of St Mary's Church (which is adjacent to it) until 1986. In 1988 it was bought by the City of Ely Council and was opened as a tourist attraction in 1990, and has been refurbished to show how it may have looked during Cromwell's lifetime.The former Lord Protector's family home is his only residence still in existence other than Hampton Court. Following a recent refurbishment the House now has a completely re-vamped Civil War exhibition with interactive displays and interpretations.

The Sextry Barn was a 13th-century tithe barn in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. It was one of the largest medieval barns in Europe, and was demolished in 1842. It was used to store the corn tithes due to Ely Cathedral, and took its name from the sacrist of the monastery who was in charge of it.The barn lay to the west of St Mary's Church, and adjacent to Oliver Cromwell's House. It was about 209 ft (64 m) in length internally with masonry walls approximately 4 ft (1.2 m) thick. The roof was supported by a double range of oak piers separating it into central and side aisles.

St Mary's Church is a church in Ely, Cambridgeshire, located near Ely Cathedral to the west of the Bishop's Palace.Principally constructed in the 13th century, it was designated as a Grade I listed building in 1950.Sextry Barn, which stood immediately to the west of the churchyard, was a large 13th-century tithe barn. It was demolished in 1842.
