Shotgate Thickets

Shotgate is a civil parish and village in Essex, England. On 1 April 2007, Shotgate became the first area of Wickford to have a Parish Council.

Beauchamps High School, locally known as Beauchamps, is a mixed intake secondary school and sixth form for students aged between 11 and 18 (school years 7 to 13) in Wickford, Essex, England. The sixth form offers post 16 education for students aged 16–18 and accepts both former Beauchamps students and students educated at other establishments. The current headteacher of the school is Mr Mat Harper. The previous head was Mr Robert Hodges.

Runwell is a village near Wickford and a civil parish on the A132 road, in the Chelmsford District, in the English county of Essex. The village is surrounded by neighbouring parishes such as Battlesbridge and Rettendon.

Battlesbridge railway station is on the Crouch Valley Line in the East of England, serving the village of Battlesbridge, Essex. It is 31 miles 40 chains (50.7 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Wickford to the west and South Woodham Ferrers to the east. The Engineer's Line Reference for the line is WIS; the station's three-letter station code is BLB. The line and station were opened on 1 June 1889 for goods and on 1 October 1889 for passenger services by the Great Eastern Railway. The station had a single platform with a station building, a goods shed, a goods yard including cattle pens, and a 34-lever signal box. The freight service was withdrawn on 4 October 1965; the goods loop and signal box were closed on 7 December 1966. All the station buildings were demolished in 1968. Electrification of the Wickford to Southminster line using 25 kV overhead line electrification (OLE) was completed on 12 May 1986. Battlesbridge station is currently managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving it. The typical off-peak service is of one westbound train every 40 minutes to Wickford (with some peak-hour services continuing to Shenfield and/or London Liverpool Street) and one eastbound train every 40 minutes to Southminster. Since the platform is only long enough to accommodate eight carriages, any peak-hour trains formed of 12 coaches do not call at Battlesbridge.

Battlesbridge is a village in Essex, England. It straddles the River Crouch which is tidal and navigable up to this point. It is approximately 14 miles (23 km) south-southeast of Chelmsford and 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Rayleigh. The north bank of the river is in the civil parish of Rettendon, while the south bank is in Rawreth. It is a suburb of the town of Wickford and falls under the postal codes used in Wickford. Today it is home to a number of antiques centres, one of which is in a former mill.Battlesbridge is a conservation area which was jointly designated by Chelmsford Borough Council (north side of the river) and Rochford District Council (south side of the river) in February 1992 and March 1992 respectively.The village is served by Battlesbridge railway station on the Crouch Valley Line. Classic Car and Motorbike shows are held here each year.For some years, the Battlesbridge Rural Theatre staged outdoor shows with proceeds going to local charities.

Runwell Hospital was a hospital in the Chelmsford district of Essex. It was managed by the South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.

Rawreth is a village and civil parish in the District of Rochford, Essex, England. It is situated between Wickford and Rayleigh. The place-name 'Rawreth' is first attested in the Pipe Rolls for 1177, where it appears as Raggerea. It appears as Ragherethe in the Feet of Fines for 1240, and as Raureth in the Charter Rolls of 1267. The name means 'herons' stream', as seen on the Village Sign (at right). The area is mainly agricultural, sparsely populated, and with a small amount of industry. Historically most of the farmhouses in Rawreth were moated manors, many of which survive today. The original parish council was disbanded in the 1930s when the area was united with Rayleigh to form the original urban district. It was reformed in 1994 following the reorganisation of local government.

The A132 road is a road in England connecting Pitsea and South Woodham Ferrers.

The Rettendon murders (also known as the Range Rover murders or Essex murders) occurred on 6 December 1995 in the village of Rettendon in Essex, England, when three drug dealers were shot dead in a Range Rover on a small farm track. The murders were the subject of a major police investigation and various special operations, including Operation Century, which were undertaken to uncover the perpetrators and as many other details as possible. The murders have also been the subject of books and feature films.

Wickford is a town and civil parish in the south of the English county of Essex, with a population of 33,486. Located approximately 30 miles (50 km) east of London, it is within the Borough of Basildon along with the original town of Basildon, Billericay, Laindon and Pitsea. Wickford has a main high street which includes a wide range of shops. It also has a swimming pool, library, open-air market and a community centre within the vicinity of the town centre.

Wickford railway station is on the Shenfield to Southend Line and is also the western terminus of the Crouch Valley Line in the east of England, serving the town of Wickford in the Basildon district of Essex. It is 29 miles 2 chains (46.71 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Billericay to the west and, to the east, Rayleigh on the Southend Line and Battlesbridge on the Crouch Valley Line. The Engineer's Line Reference for the line is SSV, the station's three-letter station code is WIC. Most Southend services connect to the Great Eastern Main Line at Shenfield for Liverpool Street. Peak-time Southminster trains also run through to London. Wickford station and all trains serving it are currently operated by Greater Anglia. The station was previously called Wickford Junction when the Crouch Valley route to Southminster also included a branch to Maldon West and more agricultural traffic passed through the station.

Rettendon is a small village and civil parish in the Borough of Chelmsford in Essex, England, about 8 miles (13 km) south east of the city of Chelmsford. Situated near the River Crouch, the village was once owned by the Bishop of Ely. The A130 formerly passed through the village. There are a number of listed buildings in the parish.
