The house is of the "first rate" class, built around 1777 as part of the Portland Estate (now the Howard de Walden Estate), probably by John White and the plasterer Thomas Collins who were associated with Sir William Chambers.

The house was built around 1910 in red brick with stone dressings in the arts and crafts Georgian revival style on a tall stone plinth. It was part of an attempt by the Portland Estate to revive the residential character of the area which they felt had become too professional. It is used as the health office of the Embassy of Kuwait in London.

Devonshire Close, originally known as Devonshire Mews East, is a mews street in the City of Westminster, London, accessed from Devonshire Street. The Close is on a distinctive H plan with a middle downwards leg. It dates from the 1770s and originally contained a timber yard, stables, and accommodation for domestic servants who worked in the larger houses surrounding it. Access was limited to the north side in order to divert traffic from the grander north–south streets around it. The Close was gentrified in the 20th century and its buildings converted to mews houses which, like other mews in London, have become desirable in the modern era because they are quiet and have little traffic. The Close is now part of the Howard de Walden Estate.

Wimpole Mews is a mews street in Marylebone, London W1, England. It is known for being a key location in the Profumo affair in the early 1960s. The street runs north–south, with Weymouth Street to the north and New Cavendish Street to the south. To the east is Harley Street and to the west is Wimpole Street. It is named after Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire, the seat of Edward Harley, 2nd Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer.17 Wimpole Mews was the home of the osteopath Stephen Ward (1912–1963) in the early 1960s. He acted as "landlord" to Christine Keeler (1942–2017) and Mandy Rice-Davies (1944–2014). Keeler had affairs with the politician John Profumo (1915–2006), Secretary of State for War, and the Soviet naval attaché and spy Captain Yevgeny Ivanov (1926–1994), resulting in the Profumo affair scandal in 1963. In December 1962, Johnny Edgecombe (1932–2010), a former lover of Christine Keeler, fired five shots at the lock of 17 Wimpole Mews using a handgun that Keeler had given him, triggering events that led to the scandal.The experiences of Christine Keeler were dramatised as the six-part television serial The Trial of Christine Keeler and broadcast by the BBC during December 2019 to January 2020, featuring events in Wimpole Mews.

The Joseph Lister Memorial is a memorial to Joseph Lister, 1st Baron Lister by the sculptor Thomas Brock, situated in Portland Place in Marylebone, London. The memorial is positioned in the centre of the road opposite numbers 71 to 81 and is Grade II listed. It is close to Lister's home at 12 Park Crescent.The memorial was unveiled by Sir John Bland-Sutton, President of the Royal College of Surgeons, on 13 March 1924. The base of the monument is made of grey Aberdeen granite. On top of the base is a bronze bust of Joseph Lister. At the front are the figures of a woman and a boy: the boy is holding a garland of flowers; the woman is pointing to Lister with her right hand.A little way to the north in Park Crescent is the 1824 statue of the Duke of Kent, the father of Queen Victoria.
