The Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) provides all-risk emergency services to the unincorporated areas of Alameda County, California (excluding Fairview), the cities of San Leandro, Dublin, Newark, Union City and Emeryville, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. With 28 fire stations and 35 companies serving a population of 394,000, the ACFD serves densely populated urban areas, waterways, industrialized centers, extensive urban interface, agricultural and wildland regions. Over 400 personnel and 100 reserve firefighters provide a wide variety of services to a community roughly 508 square miles (1,320 km2) in size. Alameda County ( AL-ə-MEE-də) is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,682,353, making it the 7th-most populous county in the state and 21st most populous nationally. The county seat is Oakland. Alameda County is in the San Francisco Bay Area, occupying much of the East Bay region. The Spanish word alameda means either "a grove of poplars...or a tree lined street". The name was originally used to describe the Arroyo de la Alameda. The willow and sycamore trees along the banks of the river reminded the early Spanish explorers of a road lined with trees. Although a strict translation to English might be "Poplar Grove Creek", the name of the principal stream that flows through the county is now simply "Alameda Creek". Alameda County is part of the San Francisco–Oakland–Berkeley, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area, and the San Jose–San Francisco–Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area.

The Alviso Adobe Community Park is a 7-acre (2.8 ha) park in the city of Pleasanton, California, United States. It is built around an adobe house constructed in 1854 by Francisco Alviso on the Rancho Santa Rita Mexican Land Grant. The Alviso Adobe is a rare surviving example of an early American adobe that was continuously in use until 1969. The building is registered as California Historical Landmark #510 in 1954, but most of the historical marker was later found to be erroneous.Construction of the park was initially planned to begin in 2000, but the city could not secure funding until 2007, when the $4.4 million project was finally begun. The park opened to the public with a grand-opening ceremony on October 25, 2008. Besides the adobe, which is furnished as it would have been in the 1920s, the park contains a replica of an old dairy and interpretive displays of Ohlone culture.

Arroyo Valle or Arroyo Del Valle is a 36.4-mile-long (58.6 km) westward-flowing stream that begins in northeastern Santa Clara County, California, and flows northwesterly into Alameda County where it is dammed to form Lake Del Valle. After that Arroyo Valle is a tributary to Arroyo de la Laguna which in turn flows into Alameda Creek and thence to San Francisco Bay. In the past, the Arroyo Valle had a significant steelhead migration; however, degradation of the stream in the latter half of the 20th century has decimated this anadromous fish population.

Augustin Bernal Community Park is a 237-acre (0.96 km2) park in the hills southwest of Pleasanton, California.The park was donated to the city in 1971 by Walter S. Johnson, and connects to Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park. The park is named for the Spanish settler Augustin Bernal, to whom the land on which the park sits was originally granted.Access to the park's public staging area is through a gated community, Golden Eagle Farms. Pleasanton residents can show proof of residency to get past the community's gate at Golden Eagle Way and Foothill Road; non-residents can obtain a one-week permit at Pleasanton's Department of Parks and Community Services. The Community Services office is at 200 Old Bernal Ave. in Pleasanton.

Tulare Lake was a large, shallow lake in eastern Amador Valley, surrounded by Willow Marsh (also known as the Lagoon). Tule rushes and willow trees once lined the marshes and sloughs of its shores. Drainage alterations starting in the 19th century have since reduced the marsh to the Arroyo de la Laguna, and the city of Pleasanton has since expanded across what was once marshland. Such rapid developments have led to tricky seasonal flow variations in Niles Canyon.The lake was fed by Arroyos Mocho, Valle, and Las Positas (when rainfall was substantial enough for them to reach the lagoon), as well as by Tassajara Creek and other Amador Valley creeks. Its seasonal outlet was the Arroyo de la Laguna. Tulare Lake was densely inhabited by groups of the Ohlone people prior to the 19th century.

The Hacienda del Pozo de Verona was a mansion designed by architect A. C. Schweinfurth for philanthropist Phoebe Hearst in the Amador Valley near Pleasanton, California. The Hacienda was originally built between 1894 and 1898, with substantial later additions designed by architect Julia Morgan. The design of the Hacienda combined Mission, Pueblo, and Moorish architectural styles. It was destroyed by fire in 1969.A railroad station named Hacienda (or Hearst) was built on the Western Pacific Railroad to serve the estate.The property was acquired by a group of businessmen in 1924 and it became the original home of the Castlewood Country Club.

The Bernal Subbasin is an aquifer located in the southwestern corner of Livermore Valley Groundwater Basin, Alameda County, California, United States. All of the groundwater in Livermore Valley moves toward the Bernal Subbasin, which is bounded on the east by Pleasanton Fault, on the north by the Park Fault, and on the west by the Calaveras Fault.(Earth Metrics, 1989) All the streams draining the Livermore Valley merge above the Bernal formation and exit this subbasin and Livermore Amador Valley via the Arroyo de la Laguna. Groundwater occurs throughout the valley floor portion of the Bernal Subbasin under conditions ranging from unconfined to confined. There is no inflow of groundwater across the Pleasanton Fault south of the City of Pleasanton, because any movement of groundwater in the southern section is essentially parallel to the fault.(Bonnie, 2000) Groundwater in the Bernal Subbasin typically occurs at an approximate depths of 12 to 30 feet (3.7 to 9.1 meters) below ground surface and flows from east to west.

Kilkare Woods, also known as Kilcare Woods, is a small rural unincorporated community of about 773 people in southern Alameda County, California, near Pleasanton.Kilkare Woods began as a private association of summer cottages. The town lies along Sinbad Creek beside Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park, at an elevation of 827 feet (252 meters). The town is only accessible through Sunol by Kilkare Road. 96% of residents of the ZIP code spoke English as their primary language, while 4% did not. Of those who did not, 3% spoke Hindi and 1% spoke Spanish. Kilkare Woods is served by the CAL FIRE and Livermore-Pleasanton fire departments. Students attend elementary school at Sunol Glen Elementary School in Sunol and high school at Foothill High School in Pleasanton. Law enforcement services are provided by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.

The Alameda County Fairgrounds is a 270-acre (110 ha) facility located in Pleasanton, California. It is home to the annual Alameda County Fair, held since 1912, as well as numerous trade shows and community events. Located on its grounds, the Pleasanton Fairgrounds Racetrack was built in 1858, making it the oldest one-mile (1.6 km) horse racing track in the United States. There is a 3,000 seat amphitheater, as well as a 9-hole golf course located within the track's infield. The Alameda County Central Railroad Society has maintained a model train exhibit at the fairgrounds since 1959, which has grown to two 15-by-100-foot (4.6 by 30.5 m) layouts in O scale and HO scale.Building J, also known as the Amador Pavilion, is a multi-purpose arena and livestock event facility at the fairgrounds. It was briefly home to the Tri-Valley Ranchers of the National Indoor Football League. Fair cancellations happened in 1917–1918, 1942–1944 and 2020.

Foothill High School (FHS) is a public high school in Pleasanton, California, United States. It was established in 1973 and is part of the Pleasanton Unified School District. It is a fully accredited WASC school, with its six-year WASC accreditation approved in the 2018–2019 school year. It was recognized as a California Distinguished School in 1994, 2001, 2005 and 2019. It was a 2002 nominee, and a 2006 winner of the National Blue Ribbon Award. In the US News school rankings for 2020, it was ranked #415 in the National Rankings and #52 in the California High School rankings.

South San Ramon Creek is a 9.3-mile-long (15.0 km) southward-flowing stream in Alameda County and southern Contra Costa County, in the East Bay region of northern California. The creek is a tributary to Arroyo de la Laguna, flowing in the western Livermore Valley through Dublin and Pleasanton.
