Talmont-sur-Gironde

The canton of Saintonge Estuaire is an administrative division of the Charente-Maritime department, western France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Meschers-sur-Gironde. It consists of the following communes:

Arces (French pronunciation: [aʁs]), commonly identified under the name Arces-sur-Gironde, is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France. The small village is situated on the fringes of the côte de Beauté, closely connected with the nearby capital of the Royan hinterland canton, Cozes, which hosts the area's largest concentration of businesses and commerce. The expansion of rural urbanization and the proximity of the commune to local tourist attractions, such as the bastide of Talmont-sur-Gironde, explains the recent development of the commune, with a population increase of 485 in 1990 to 622 in 2007. The commune is a part of the framework of the Communauté d'agglomération Royan Atlantique, with 72,136 inhabitants. The village centre, with flowery alleys of roses, is concentrated around a small, prominent knoll with marshes and fields. The Romanesque Church of Saint Pierre, an ancient fixture on the Way of Saint James, is a dominant feature of the village.

Meschers-sur-Gironde (French pronunciation: [meʃe syʁ ʒiʁɔ̃d], literally Meschers on Gironde) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department, southwestern France.

Barzan (French pronunciation: [baʁzɑ̃]) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south-western France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as Barzanais or Barzanaises. The commune is the site of a major Gallo-Roman site of Barzan structured excavations carried out since 1994. Aerial photographs and the first archaeological excavations have revealed the presence of a Gallo-Roman port city of great importance (a monumental Gallo-Roman temple, baths, forum, theatre etc.). Other remains are the subject of annual excavations. It seems almost certain that this Gallo-Roman town is the Novioregum indicated in the Antonine Itinerary. It could also be the Portus Santonum (the port of the Santones) described by Ptolemy.

Semussac (French pronunciation: [semysak]) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France.

Grézac (French pronunciation: [ɡʁezak]) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France.

Communauté d'agglomération Royan Atlantique is the communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the town of Royan. It is located in the Charente-Maritime department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, southwestern France. Created in 2001, its seat is in Royan. Its area is 603.9 km2. Its population was 83,661 in 2019, of which 18,419 in Royan proper.

Le Chay (French pronunciation: [lə ʃɛ]) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France.

Corme-Écluse (French pronunciation: [kɔʁm eklyz]) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in southwestern France. The village is noteworthy for its Romanesque church of the eleventh century, with a single nave and transepts with ogival vaulting. The massive crossing tower is supported on a vaulted cupola on pendentives. The richly sculptural west front, with a porch of three bays and an arcade above, was restored about 1860.

Saint-Georges-de-Didonne (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ ʒɔʁʒ də didɔn]) is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department and Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in southwestern France. An important seaside resort of Royan and the coast of Beauty, on the right bank of the mouth of the Gironde estuary and adjacent Atlantic Ocean, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne is a major economic and tourist centers of royannaise metropolitan city which it is now becoming a residential suburb. It has a population of 5,342 inhabitants (2019) - to over 50,000 people during the summer season - and is part of the agglomeration community of Royan Atlantique with 83,661 inhabitants (2019).

Royan–Médis Aerodrome is an aerodrome located 4 km (2 miles) east of Royan, France.
