Woodgrange Baptist Church

Emmanuel Church, Forest Gate is a Church of England church in Forest Gate, east London. It was built in the Decorated Gothic variant of the neo-Gothic style in 1852 to designs by George Gilbert Scott and a new parish formed for it from parts of All Saints Church, West Ham and St Mary Magdalene's Church, East Ham. A north aisle was added in 1890. Bomb damage from the London Blitz was repaired. It was Grade II listed in 1984. The church also set up the mission churches of St Saviour's Church, Forest Gate in 1880 and St Mark's Church, Forest Gate (which gained a permanent building between 1893 and 1898 and a parish of its own (using parts of the parishes of Emmanuel and All Saints) in 1894. In 1881 part of its parish was joined with parts of those of All Saints Church, West Ham and St John's Church, Stratford to form a parish for St James' Church, Forest Gate. In 2023 a controversial clearing of headstones and monuments was undertaken by smashing them up and removing the debris, with financial support from the Newham Council. They did not ask for public comment on the decision but deferred to the Church authorities. The vicar was quoted as saying it was" 'a place littered with old graves' and they made the church look abandoned.

The area's name relates to its position adjacent to Wanstead Flats, the southernmost part of Epping Forest. The town was historically part of the parish (and later borough) of West Ham in the hundred of Becontree in Essex. Since 1965, Forest Gate has been part of the London Borough of Newham, a local government district of Greater London. The town forms the majority of the London E7 postcode district. Neighbouring areas include Leytonstone to the north, East Ham to the east, Plaistow to the south and Stratford to the west.

It is 5 miles 21 chains (8.5 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Maryland and Manor Park. Its three-letter station code is FOG and it is in fare zone 3. The station was opened in 1840 by the Eastern Counties Railway. It is currently managed by Transport for London and is on the Elizabeth line between Shenfield and London Paddington.

Wanstead Park is a railway station in Forest Gate, London. It is on the Gospel Oak to Barking line in Zone 3, 11 miles 11 chains (17.9 km) down the line from Gospel Oak and situated between Leytonstone High Road and Woodgrange Park. It is operated by London Overground. Despite its name, Wanstead Park Station is not situated in Wanstead but in Forest Gate – and it is not near Wanstead Park but Wanstead Flats. The station was opened 9 July 1894. The station is 360 yards (330 m) from Forest Gate station, according to TfL's journey planner, and this interchange is suggested in the National Rail Timetable.

Forest Gate Community School is a coeducational secondary school in the London Borough of Newham, rated Outstanding by Ofsted in February 2020 for the second time. It was first rated Outstanding in 2016. The school was extended from eight forms of entry to ten – rising to a total of 1,350 pupils – starting with the Year 7 admission in September 2019 to meet demand from local parents attributed to the school’s much-improved reputation. The school was ranked in the top 50 in the country for progress in GCSE results in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. In 2017, disadvantaged students made progress over 1 grade higher than the national average, source Department for Education. The school was ranked 33rd in the country for progress scores for disadvantaged students in 2019. The school has the best progress 8 for Newham for secondary students for 2018 and 2019. In 2020, the school was named School of the Year by World Class Schools.

Barclay Hall, E7 8JQ, is a 1900 building located in London's Green Street, Forest Gate area of Startford.

The Forest Gate School of Music (later the Metropolitan Academy of Music) was established in 1885 by Harding Bonner (1853-1907). It was situated in premises on what is now Earlham Grove in Forest Gate, London. The building dates from 1879 and was previously the premises of the Tonic Sol-Fa College, established there by the pioneering music educator John Curwen. In 1897 the Earlham Hall was added to the front of the property as a public performance space seating around 500 people. The buildings of the school still stand, although somewhat altered as the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.

The Spotted Dog is a Grade II listed public house at 212 Upton Lane, Forest Gate, London. It dates back to the late 15th or early 16th century, and was thought to once have been a hunting lodge for King Henry VIII.
