The Albert Dock Seamen's Hospital was a hospital provided by the Seamen's Hospital Society for the care of ex-members of the Merchant navy, the fishing fleets and their dependents. It was opened in 1890 as a branch of the Dreadnought Seamen's Hospital, Greenwich. The London School of Tropical Medicine was established here in October 1899, by Sir Patrick Manson with assistance from the British Secretary of State for the Colonies (Joseph Chamberlain). Together with the Hospital for Tropical Diseases they moved to Euston in February 1920.The Hospital was relocated to a new site on nearby Alnwick Road (east of Felsted Road) in 1937-1938 and became part of Newham Health District under the City and East London Area Health Authority (Teaching) in 1974 and was converted from acute to orthopaedic use. It came under the direct control of Newham Health Authority in 1981 and subsequently became a homeward bound mental handicap unit which closed in c1993. The hospital buildings were demolished in 1993 except for one range which retains its 1930s brown brick elevations and central rendered pediment, now converted to residential use.

Royal Docks Academy (formerly Royal Docks Community School) is a coeducational secondary school located in Custom House within the London Borough of Newham, England. It does not have a sixth form.

Connaught Road was a railway station in east London that was opened by the London & St. Katharine Docks Company on 3 August 1880. It was located on Connaught Road, north of the channel joining the Royal Victoria Dock and Royal Albert Dock. The station was sited very close to the junction where the EC&TJR split into three branches (to Beckton, Gallions and North Woolwich), between Canning Town and Central stations, on the Gallions branch. Connaught Road was sparingly used by passenger services, which ceased from 8 September 1940 after destructive wartime bombing caused by a German air raid, and the goods line was closed with the closure of the Royal Docks.With the redevelopment of London Docklands in the 1980s and 1990s, the line was replaced in 1994 by the Docklands Light Railway extension to Beckton. No trace of Connaught Road station remains today; the current Prince Regent and Royal Albert DLR stations are both roughly equidistant from the site.

West Ham Stadium existed between 1928 and 1972 in Custom House, east London, England, on Prince Regent Lane, near the present-day Prince Regent DLR station. The venue was used for greyhound racing and speedway on weekdays and had no connection with West Ham United football club, who played at the nearby Boleyn Ground, Upton Park from 1904 until 2016.

Prince Regent DLR station is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in Canning Town in east London. The station was opened on 28 March 1994 and provides access to the eastern end of the ExCeL Exhibition Centre and ICC London. The station signage is subtitled 'for ExCeL East'. The station is named after Prince Regent Lane, which runs north from the station towards the A13 road. There is a small bus station adjoining the station with buses to Plaistow and London City Airport. The station is located on the DLR's Beckton branch, between Custom House and Royal Albert stations. It is in Travelcard Zone 3. During major exhibitions at the adjacent Excel Centre an additional DLR shuttle service operates between Canning Town and Prince Regent stations, to supplement the normal Tower Gateway to Beckton service. The trains shuttle reverse on a crossover well to the east of the station, within sight of the next station at Royal Albert.

The London Regatta Centre (now formally known as Royal Docks Watersports Centre) is a rowing and dragon boat racing centre located in the Docklands area in the East End of London. It is built at the west end on the northern quayside of the historic Royal Albert Dock directly opposite London City Airport. The site is owned by the Royal Albert Dock Trust, and is home to the Queen Mary, University of London Boat Club, London Youth Rowing, Curlew Rowing Club, London Otters Rowing Club, University of East London Boat Club, Raging Dragons Dragon Boat Club, Thames Dragons, Wave Walkers, Windy Pandas DBC and Typhoon DBC amongst others.The Regatta Centre was opened formally in March 2000 by the Princess Royal. The building was designed by Ian Ritchie Architects. The 200-year lease on the land for the centre was to the Royal Albert Dock Trust, by the London Docklands Development Corporation.The centre has a 2,000 metre course, with seven lanes plus a return lane. The existing 1,750-metre length of the dock was extended to 2,000 by the removal and replacement of the Woolwich Manor Way Bridge at the east of the dock. The new bridge was built further east and is now officially known as the Sir Steve Redgrave Bridge. The London Borough of Newham (listen) is a London borough created in 1965 by the London Government Act 1963. It covers an area previously administered by the Essex county boroughs of West Ham and East Ham, authorities that were both abolished by the same act. The name Newham reflects its creation and combines the compass points of the old borough names. Situated in the East London part of Inner London, Newham has a population of 387,576, which is the third highest of the London boroughs and also makes it the 17th most populous district in England. The local authority is Newham London Borough Council. It is 5 miles (8 km) east of the City of London, north of the River Thames (the Woolwich Ferry and Woolwich foot tunnel providing the only crossings to the south), bounded by the River Lea to its west and the North Circular Road to its east. Newham was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium, and also contains the London City Airport. Major districts include East Ham, West Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, Forest Gate, Beckton and Canning Town.

Royal Docks is an area and a ward in the London Borough of Newham in the London Docklands in East London, England. The area is named after three docks – the Royal Albert Dock, the Royal Victoria Dock and the King George V Dock. They are more correctly called the Royal Group of Docks to distinguish them from the Royal Dockyards, Royal being due to their naming after members of the royal family rather than Crown ownership. The three docks collectively formed the largest enclosed docks in the world, with a water area of nearly 250 acres (1.0 km2) and an overall estate of 1,100 acres (4.5 km2). The area was designated a special enterprise zone in 2012. North Woolwich is part of Royal Docks ward. Royal Docks is also a ward of the London Borough of Newham. At the 2011 Census it had a population of 10,679.

The London Triathlon (currently known as the "AJ Bell London Triathlon", and previously the Virgin Active London Triathlon, Mazda London Triathlon and the Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon, for sponsorship reasons) is an annual triathlon event in London, England. Until 2015 it was the largest triathlon in the world. It is the only triathlon to take place in central London following the relocation of the International Triathlon Union London event to Leeds.Participants can choose between four individual distances or two team relay distances: Super Sprint: 400m swim, 10 km bike, 2.5 km run Sprint: 750m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run Olympic: 1500m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run Olympic Plus: 1500m swim, 80 km bike, 10 km runThe course passes some of the city's landmarks such as the London Eye, Westminster, London Bridge and the O2. Participants can fundraise for one of the events official charity partners, with Bloodwise and Macmillan being the two gold charities for 2016. Held annually in London, England, the race attracts a field of elite athletes and in excess of 13,000 competitors and 30,000 spectators to the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, in the London Docklands. Previous winners include Tim Don, Stuart Hayes, Vicky Holland, Helen Jenkins, Jodie Swallow and Emma Snowsill. The 2015 elite male and female races were won by Peter Kerr and Helen Jenkins, respectively. The event is owned by IMG.Thousands of pounds is raised every year and the 2015 Gold Charity was Macmillan Cancer Support. A large number of companies taking part in the corporate waves. An hour highlights show of the event is broadcast on Channel 4, Sky Sports and British Eurosport in the weeks following the event.

The NHS Nightingale Hospital London was the first of the NHS Nightingale Hospitals, temporary hospitals set up by NHS England for the COVID-19 pandemic. It was housed in the ExCeL London convention centre in East London. The hospital was rapidly planned and constructed, being formally opened on 3 April and receiving its first patients on 7 April 2020. It served 54 patients during the first wave of the pandemic, and was used to serve non-COVID patients and provide vaccinations during the second wave. It was closed in April 2021.

Custom House is an area in the London Borough of Newham, in East London, England. The area is named after the custom house of Royal Victoria Dock. Today the dock is used for recreation but, in the past, it dominated the industry and commerce of the area from 1855 until the 1940s before closing in 1980. The main economic building of the area is the ExCeL London Exhibition Centre and the district is connected to the City of London by the Docklands Light Railway. Offices, factories and storage premises close to the DLR route provide most of the areas employment land. Schools, a college, a care home, council offices and a parade of shops also support the local economy, which has parks to north and south-east. It was originally part of the ancient parish and County Borough of West Ham, in the hundred of Becontree, a part of the historic county of Essex. Since 1965, Custom House has been part of the London Borough of Newham, a local government district of Greater London. It forms part of the London E16 postcode district. Custom House has often been regarded as the eastern part of Canning Town, also a part of West Ham; however this link has tended to be downplayed since the Victorian period due to Canning Town’s poor, industrial character.
