All Saints Church, West Ham

West Ham is an area in East London, located 6.1 mi (9.8 km) east of Charing Cross in the west of the modern London Borough of Newham. The area, which lies immediately to the north of the River Thames and east of the River Lea, was originally an ancient parish formed to serve parts of the older Manor of Ham, and it later became a County Borough. The district, part of the historic county of Essex, was an administrative unit, with largely consistent boundaries, from the 12th century to 1965, when it merged with neighbouring areas to become the western part of the new London Borough of Newham. The area of the parish and borough included not just central West Ham area, just south of Stratford; but also the sub-districts of Stratford, Canning Town, Plaistow, Custom House, Silvertown, Forest Gate and the western parts of Upton Park, which is shared with East Ham. The district was historically dependent on its docks and other maritime trades, while the inland industrial concentrations led to its byname as the Factory centre of the south of England. These sources of employment have largely been lost, though there has been a degree of regeneration, in part associated with the 2012 Olympic Games.

St Thomas's Church, West Ham, was a church in West Ham, East London. It originated around 1878 on Rokeby Street as a mission of All Saints Church, West Ham, initially in an iron building and then from 1889 in a brick one, which was assigned a parish from All Saints' in 1891. It was damaged by bombing, closed and finally demolished in 1957, though the parish existed until 1961, when it was merged back into that of All Saints.

West Ham is a constituency created in 1997 and represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2005 by Lyn Brown, a member of the Labour Party.

Abbey Gardens is a community garden in East London built on the site of a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The garden area was a row of cottages, and beneath is the remain of the gatehouse of the Stratford Langthorne Abbey. It is managed by a charity, The Friends of Abbey Gardens (Charity number 1158147). The garden was created in 2008, by two artists, Nina Pope and Karen Guthrie.

Abbey Road DLR station is a Docklands Light Railway station in West Ham in the London Borough of Newham, in east London, England. It is located on the Stratford International extension of the Docklands Light Railway.

The Passmore Edwards Museum was a museum in Stratford, East London. Earlier in its life it was also known as the Essex Local and Educational Museum of Natural History.It began life as the collection and library of the Essex Field Club, which formed the new museum's nucleus by agreement between the Club and the Corporation of West Ham. In an agreement made between the Corporation of West Ham and the Essex Field Club, dated 25 July 1898, the Museum was to be founded as follows: - The Corporation agreed to dedicate the main portion of the building to the purposes of a Museum of Local (Essex) Natural History, Prehistoric Archaeology and Anthropology, and of educational series relating to the same; to warm, light, and provide for the caretaking of the building; that the Club should have the sole scientific control of the collections, and the appointment of the Curator, and be allowed to keep its Library in the building; the Corporation also agreeing to make a grant of not less than £100 per annum towards the curatorial expenses. - The Club agreed to place their county collections, cases, and cabinets in the Museum (except the Epping Forest collections, which were to be retained in the Forest Museum at Chingford); to do their best to increase and improve the same; to undertake the selection and scientific control of the collections; to raise a certain capital sum for the further equipment of the Museum; to appoint a Curator, and to devote a sum of £50 per annum towards the curatorial expenses.John Passmore Edwards contributed substantially to the foundation of the museum and its name was later changed to reflect this. On 6 October 1898 he laid the first stone.The museum building adjoined the West Ham Technical Institute and was opened in 1900 by Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick. Its central space had a galleried top-lit dome. It closed in 1994, and its collections were transferred to Newham Heritage Service and other museums. Its building is now used as the Student Union for the Stratford Campus of the University of East London.

School-Home Support (SHS) is a British charity founded in 1984 to help disadvantaged children and young people overcome barriers to education.The charity works with schools, local authorities and families, aiming to look "beyond the classroom" to understand and tackle low school attendance and other issues affecting children's learning. It emphasises the importance of home experience on a child's attainment at school and works to resolve issues including poverty, lack of housing, domestic violence, and substance misuse. During the 2015/16 academic year, SHS worked with over 11,000 families.SHS is a UK registered charity, number 1084696. Its motto is "Children in school, ready to learn. Whatever it takes."Ken Olisa, the first black Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, and Tony Adams, former football player and captain for Arsenal and England, are patrons of the charity. Sophie Winkleman became Royal Patron in 2020.

School 21 is a mixed-gender all-through school and sixth form with free school status in Stratford in the London Borough of Newham, England. The school is a non-selective school for pupils between the ages of 4 and 18 and a specialist school for the English language. It was founded in 2012 by Peter Hyman, a former special adviser to Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The King Edward VII is a Grade II listed public house at 47 Broadway, Stratford, London.It was built in the early 18th century. It is opposite St John's Church and has original pedimented doors and early 19th-century bay windows. It was originally called "The King of Prussia", either in honour of Frederick the Great or else after King Frederick William IV, who visited the area in 1842 to meet Elizabeth Fry, the prison reformer. However, the name was changed at the start of World War I in 1914 for patriotic reasons.

Sarah Bonnell School is a secondary school for girls, in Stratford, London. It was founded in 1769, though has had changes of names and status since then.
