St Mary's Church, Barnes, is the parish church of Barnes, formerly in Surrey and now in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It is a Grade II* listed building.St Mary's Barnes is a thriving Christian community with an electoral roll of 350 and strong links across the local community. Along with the parishes of St Michael and All Angels, Barnes and Holy Trinity Barnes it forms the Barnes Team Ministry; the current Team Rector is Rev'd James Hutchings.

Olympic Studios was a renowned British independent commercial recording studio based in Barnes, London. It is best known for its recordings of many artists throughout the late 1960s to the first decade of the 21st century, including Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Ella Fitzgerald, Queen, Ray Charles, the Who, B.B King, Traffic, Prince, the Eagles, Eric Clapton, Madonna, Adele Björk and MIKA. It is often regarded as being as significant as Abbey Road Studios, and remains an important cultural landmark. The studio's sound mixing desks became famous when the technology and design they pioneered was manufactured commercially.Although much of Olympic has returned to its original purpose as a cinema, it also still maintains a small recording facility, designed with the help of original members of the studio's staff, who are now also involved in the construction of a much larger studio, performance and teaching space, to run alongside Olympic's cinema at the iconic location.

Church Road, Barnes is a street in Barnes in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It runs from the junction between Rocks Lane (heading south towards Barnes Common and Barnes Station) and Castlenau (running northwards to Hammersmith Bridge) by the Red Lion pub, westwards to the end of Barnes High Street. It takes its name from the St Mary's Church, a Church of England building dating back to the twelfth century. Also located on the street are the Sun Inn and the early eighteenth century The Homestead, both Grade II listed. Barnes Green runs on the south side of the street. The Olympic Studios were located in the street, notable for the records that Jimi Hendrix made there.Along with Barnes High Street it is the historic centre of Barnes, now a suburb of London but historically a village located several miles away from Central London. With the High Street it now forms part of the A3003 road. Many of the current buildings date back to the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

Barnes () is a district in south London, part of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, England. It takes up the extreme north-east of the borough, and as such is the closest part of the borough to central London. It is centred 5.8 miles (9.3 km) west south-west of Charing Cross in a bend of the River Thames. Its built environment includes a wide variety of convenience and arts shopping on its high street and a high proportion of 18th- and 19th-century buildings in the streets near Barnes Pond. Together they make up the Barnes Village conservation area where, along with its west riverside, pictured, most of the mid-19th-century properties are concentrated. On the east riverside is the WWT London Wetland Centre adjoining Barn Elms playing fields. Barnes has retained woodland on the "Barnes Trail" which is a short circular walk taking in the riverside, commercial streets and conservation area, marked by silver discs set in the ground and with QR coded information on distinctive oar signs, and taking in the legendary Olympic Studios, which are to be found in Barnes Village. The Thames Path National Trail provides a public promenade along the entire bend of the river which is on the Championship Course in rowing. Barnes has two railway stations (Barnes and Barnes Bridge) and is served by bus routes towards central London and Richmond.

Mill Hill is a street in Barnes, London, England. Mill Hill is effectively an enclave of eleven large houses on the site of a former windmill, surrounded by Barnes Common. Mill Hill is the most elevated location in Barnes, and a windmill stood on the site from at least 1443 until the 19th century. In 1780, a hurricane destroyed the Post Mill, and in 1783 the new Smock Mill replaced it. In 1812, the Italian servant who assassinated Louis-Alexandre de Launay, comte d'Antraigues, and his wife at their nearby home in Barnes Terrace was buried nearby.In 1836, the mill was demolished by the Yewd family to allow for housing development. The houses date from the 19th century, apart from Mill Hill Lodge, part of which is the miller's 18th-century cottage.Mill Hill is effectively an enclave of eleven large houses surrounded by Barnes Common, and three of the houses are grade II listed: The Mill Hill, Mill Hill Lodge and Mulberry Lodge.In 1902, Frederick Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts's sister was living at Mill Hill. In 1912, The Mill Hill was home to a Mrs Eykyn.

The OSO Arts Centre is a theatre and arts centre located in Barnes in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The building was previously the postal sorting office, but was redeveloped into a mixture of residential and commercial space with the first residents moving in in 1999. In 2002 the arts centre opened and in 2012 the OSO Arts Centre came under the direction of a new board of trustees. The building is located on Barnes Green, and provides arts services to the community, both in the form of evening performances in the theatre space, and daytime dance and art classes. Some well-known names have performed at the OSO over the years including Patricia Hodge, Timothy West, Stephanie Cole, Julian Glover, Janie Dee, Issy van Randwyck, Harriet Thorpe, Lee Nelson and Robert Pattinson.The theatre is currently led by Artistic Director Jonny Danciger and General Manager Lisa Ross. Its artistic ambassadors include Gyles Brandreth, Roger McGough and Kate Silverton. During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 the theatre space was refurbished as a 'Crisis Kitchen', with the OSO staff and volunteers preparing over 10,000 free meals for the elderly and vulnerable, NHS workers, and those in economic hardship. The chair of trustees was awarded an MBE in the 2021 New Years Honours list for this initiative.A full refurbishment of the venue, designed by B3 Designers, was completed in Autumn 2020. The refurbished theatre was officially opened by Michael Ball in October 2020.

St Ann's Ground was a cricket ground at Barnes, Surrey (now in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames). In 1889 the Lyric Club played the Marylebone Cricket Club in a non first-class match. The only first-class match held at the ground came in 1890 when the Lyric Club played the touring Australians, which the Lyric Club won by 96 runs. The final important match at the ground, in 1892, was between the Lyric Club and the Marylebone Cricket Club. The ground was located within the grounds of St Ann's House, which in the early 1900s it was built over. The approximate location of the house today would be near Lyric Road and St Ann's Road, which are near the River Thames.

The Sun Inn is a Grade II listed public house overlooking the village pond at 7 Church Road, Barnes in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It was built as a coffee-house in the mid-18th century, but the architect is not known.The Sun Inn is now part of the Mitchells & Butlers chain.
