The Monterey County Court House is the court house for Monterey County in Salinas, California, United States.

The Superior Court of California, County of Monterey, also known as the Monterey County Superior Court or Monterey Superior Court, is the branch of the California superior court with jurisdiction over Monterey County.

The Monterey County Jail is a jail in Salinas, California, United States. Built in 1931, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.Cesar Chavez was imprisoned at the jail, raising national attention for the Salinas Valley lettuce boycott and affirming the legal use of boycotts as an organizing model.

The John Steinbeck House is a historic house restaurant and house museum in Salinas, California. The house was the birthplace and family home of author John Steinbeck (1902–1968). It is noted for its Queen Anne architecture. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Salinas High School is a public 9–12 high school in Salinas, California, United States. It is the first of five primary high schools of the Salinas Union High School District. The school was moved to its current central Salinas location in 1920. The campus was rebuilt circa 1999. While most buildings were demolished and replaced, the original main wing and bell tower were retained and renovated. The current principal is Elizabeth Duethman, with assistants Hugo Mariscal, Ernesto Pacleb, Vivian Moises, and Anthony Morales. As of the 2019–2020 school year the school enrolled 2700 students. Its campus is situated in a rural and suburban setting. The Salinas Cowboys compete in the Pacific Coast Athletic League of the CIF Central Coast Section. The school colors are purple and gold. During the August 2021 football jamboree, students made an instagram account "shaniqua.shs" that posted pictures and videos of a defaced black baby doll. Posts showed white and latino students posing with it and stomping on the doll, with comments using the n-word. The actions were called racist and disturbing by Monterey Weekly. As a result, three students were suspended and one student removed from the cheer team.

Rancho Las Palmas also known as the Hiram Corey house, is a historic Queen Anne style house located at 100 River Road, Salinas, California. It was built by Hiram Corey in 1891, one of Monterey County's most successful stock farmers of the late 19th century. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 4, 1978, as Rancho Las Palmas. Today, the historic mansion is located in a gated residential community named Las Palmas Ranch and was renamed Chateau Coralini, which is open to the public as a boutique inn.

Krough House is a historic Queen Anne style house located at 146 Central Avenue, Salinas, California. It is one of four surviving examples of the Queen Anne houses that characterized Central Avenue in the 1890s. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 18, 1982.

The B. V. Sargent House is a historic house in Salinas, California, United States. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for representing a change in local building styles and opening popularity in the area for Colonial Revival architecture.It was built in 1897 and is a work of architect William H. Weeks. Its National Register nomination asserts it is an "excellent example of changing tastes in architecture at the turn of the twentieth century in rural California", and that the house "is also perhaps, the most fully realized expression of architect William H. Weeks' (1864–1936) early 'modified colonial' style". It cost $7,500 to be built by contractor L.U. Grant.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.In 2014 it was purchased by the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real and renovated as the diocesan headquarters, which was moved there from Seaside, California, in January 2015.

The Sheriff William Joseph Nesbitt House is a historic vernacular style house located at 66 Capitol Street, Salinas, California. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 19, 1982.

Salinas (; Spanish for "Salt Marsh or Salt Flats") is a city in the U.S. state of California and the county seat of Monterey County. With a population of 163,542 in the 2020 Census, Salinas is the most populous city in Monterey County. Salinas is an urban area located along the eastern limits of the Monterey Bay Area, lying just south of the San Francisco Bay Area and 10 miles (16 km) southeast of the mouth of the Salinas River. The city is located at the mouth of the Salinas Valley, about eight miles (13 km) from the Pacific Ocean, and it has a climate more influenced by the ocean than the interior. Salinas serves as the main business, governmental, and industrial center of the region. The marine climate is ideal for the floral industry, grape vineyards, and vegetable growers. Salinas is known as the "Salad Bowl of the World" for its large, vibrant agriculture industry.It was the hometown of writer and Nobel laureate John Steinbeck (1902–68), who set many of his stories in the Salinas Valley and Monterey. Salinas has a high Hispanic proportion, which at 79.6%, is the highest proportion of Hispanic Americans out of any city in California, and 8th largest overall in the nation. The city also has a sizable Asian-American population, with a large and historic Filipino population. The city once also had the 2nd biggest Chinatown in the nation behind only San Francisco.

The Samuel M. Black House, located at 418 Pajaro St. in Salinas, California, is a historic Queen Anne style house that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was designed by architect William Henry Weeks and was built in 1900. The house is significant for its association with Samuel M. Black, a civic leader in the development of Monterey County, and architecturally for its serving as an early prototype of the "Modified Colonial" architecture style in development by Weeks. At the time of its NRHP nomination, the house was unique in being intact architecturally plus having the only known set of architect Weeks' plans and elevations for a house of this period; it was expected to yield further architectural history development. The house is termed a conservative one of Weeks' residential designs.: 5 The property includes an eight-bedroom, one-story farmworkers quarters that was designed and built by a local contractor in 1936 for $6,000.: 7 The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The listing included two contributing buildings.
