Brampton Racecourse

Huntingdon Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Brampton near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England. It is located on a Site of Special Scientific Interest of the original Brampton Racecourse. The most notable race held at Huntingdon Racecourse is the Peterborough Chase in December.

The Brampton Hut interchange west of Huntingdon links the A1 and A14 trunk roads, and the A141 road which takes traffic into Huntingdon or towards Norfolk. The A1 passes over a grade separated roundabout which provides access to a spur of the A14 west, which gives access, to the main A14 allowing travel to and from the west only. (This spur is occasionally mapped as an extension of A141.) Traffic on the A1(M) and A14 to and from the south and east uses continuous flow slip roads 2–4 miles south of Brampton Hut to link the A1(M) to the A14. Previously, traffic from the A14 East and wishing to travel north would have used the former A14, northern spur (now A141/A1307) to access the A1(M) at Alconbury, which is now intended for local traffic only.

Brampton Grange in Brampton, Cambridgeshire, England, is a historic building that dates to 1773. Used as a school in the 19th century, the building was later vital to the planning and execution of a bombing campaign against Germany during the Second World War: the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) 1st Bombardment Division, part of the Eighth Air Force, was based here from 1943 to 1945. After the war, Brampton Grange was later adapted for use as a hotel, bar and restaurant. It closed in 2007-2008. Several years later it was redeveloped for luxury residences. In November 2015 work was completed on 11 apartments and associated amenities in the building.

Brampton is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England, about 2 miles (3 km) south-west of Huntingdon. It lies within Huntingdonshire, a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire and a historic county of England. According to the 2011 UK census Brampton had a population of 4,862 (slightly down on the 2001 UK census figure of 5,030) A 2019 estimate puts it at 5,462.

Brampton Meadow is a one hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Brampton in Cambridgeshire, England.The site has a rich variety of plant species on calcareous clay pasture, a declining habitat. Plants include quaking-grass, adder's tongue fern, cowslip and green-winged orchid.The site is on private land with no public access.

RAF Brampton was a non-flying Royal Air Force installation near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, England. Formerly the home of RAF Support Command, it also became the home of several elements of Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), which itself was a result of a merger between the Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO) and the Defence Procurement Agency (DPA), and provided a base for the Defence Security & Assurance Services and Defence Estates. It was part of the combined station RAF Brampton Wyton Henlow but this was disbanded on 2 April 2012 and the station was renamed Brampton Camp, losing its status as a RAF station and coming under the control of Joint Forces Command and RAF Wyton. The camp was closed at the end of 2013 and all assets were transferred to a new JFIG Pathfinder building at RAF Wyton.

Spittals Interchange is the roundabout on the junction between the A141 and A1307 north of Huntingdon, England. The junction is unusual in that pre 2020 three arms of this four-way junction are numbered A14. The "extra" A14 route exits to the north and is a four-mile spur that joins the northbound A1. The north-east A1307 passes under the roundabout, but the west-east A141 traffic, which is the majority, must enter the roundabout. Traffic lights were added in 2006 in an attempt to reduce the number of accidents and improve traffic flow.The word spital or spittal in this context itself derives from 'hospital', in the sense of hospitality or shelter, as almshouses were originally known. In this case the 'spital' in question is St Margaret's Hospital, which owned land to the north of Huntingdon in medieval times. In addition until the 20th century there were almshouses called The Spitals situated on Ermine Street where the present A141 now crosses it.

Buckden railway station was a railway station in Buckden, Cambridgeshire. The station and its line closed in year 1959. The signal box is now preserved and in use as Tunbridge Wells West signal box on the Spa Valley Railway.

Great Stukeley is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of The Stukeleys. It is 1.8 miles (2.9 km) north-west of Huntingdon. Great Stukeley is in Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as a historic county of England. It lies on the old Roman road of Ermine Street. In 1931 the parish had a population of 354.The East Coast Main Line railway runs near to Great Stukeley and serves the nearby Huntingdon railway station. The church in Great Stukeley is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew and the village war memorial is contained within its grounds.

The Sedgwick Club is the official student geological society at the University of Cambridge, and is the oldest student-run geological society in the world. It aims to promote the subject of geology among its members through regular talks and social events. It is based in the Department of Earth Sciences.

The Stukeleys is a civil parish in the district of Huntingdonshire, in Cambridgeshire, England, consisting of the villages of Great Stukeley and Little Stukeley, and the new settlement of Alconbury Weald being built on the old RAF Alconbury site. The parish lies just north-west of Huntingdon. As well as the two villages, the parish also includes Huntingdon racecourse. The East Coast Main Line runs across the eastern edge of the parish. The A14 road runs south-east to north-west across the western half of the parish and has junction with the A1 road just outside the western border of the parish. Cambridgeshire County Council has its headquarters at New Shire Hall on the Alconbury Weald development in the parish.

Royal Air Force Alconbury, or more simply RAF Alconbury, is an active Royal Air Force station near Huntingdon, England. The airfield is in the civil parish of The Stukeleys, close to the villages of Great Stukeley, Little Stukeley, and Alconbury. Flying operations are no longer based at the site, with most of the land, including the runway, having been sold in 2009 to become the new settlement of Alconbury Weald.
