Gamle Oslo is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. The name means "Old Oslo", and the district contains Old Town. The borough has several landmarks and large parks, including the Edvard Munch Museum, the Botanical Gardens and a medieval park. During the time that present Oslo was named Christiania, this area was called Oslo. H. P. Lovecraft alludes to the fact in his story The Call of Cthulhu: One autumn day I landed at the trim wharves in the shadow of the Egeberg. Johansen's address, I discovered, lay in the Old Town of King Harald Hardrada, which kept alive the name of Oslo during all the centuries that the greater city masqueraded as "Christiana". Jordal Idrettspark is a multi-sports complex located at Jordal in Oslo, Norway. Owned by Oslo Municipality, its main tenant is Vålerengens IF. The main components are two ice hockey rinks, Jordal Amfi and Ungdomshallen, and a football stadium, Jordal Stadion. Jordal Stadion was built between 1930 and 1936. It is currently used for recreational football and American football, although it has previously also been used for speed skating. Jordal Amfi was built for ice hockey at the 1952 Winter Olympics and opened in 1951. The Vålerenga Trolls play American football at the stadium and Vålerenga Ishockey play in the amphitheater. The track around the football stadium was formerly used for track and field. It was especially prominent in the Workers' Confederation of Sports (AIF), where it was used for national championships for AIF clubs, like Jordal IF. It also hosted the national Workers' Championships in race walking, 5000 metres, in 1937 and 1938. Since 1926, the road race walking events had also been staged from Jordal. After the Workers' Confederation of Sports became defunct, Jordal was also used as a national venue by the Norwegian Walking Association. The local multi-sports club was named Jordal IF.

Jordal Amfi (often called Nye Jordal Amfi) is an indoor ice hockey arena, located in the Jordal district of Oslo, Norway. The 5,300-spectator arena is part of the multi-sports complex Jordal Idrettspark and serves as the home of Eliteserien (ice hockey) side Vålerenga Ishockey. Construction on the new arena started in January 2017, with completion in September 2020.

Jordal Amfi was an indoor ice hockey rink in Oslo, Norway, the first bearing that name. The venue opened in 1951 to host the 1952 Winter Olympics. Jordal was also the site of the 1958 and the 1999 IIHF World Championship. It would in the following decades also serve several boxing matches and concerts. Jordal Amfi was historically significant for Norwegian hockey and was home to 26 national championships of the GET-ligaen side Vålerenga Ishockey. It also hosted the Norway national ice hockey team. The arena's design by Frode Rinnan and Olav Tveten was characterized by its asymmetrical shape, giving steep and tall stands on the one end and low stands on the other. In 2017, the arena was closed down to be replaced by a new one.

Jordal is a neighbourhood in the borough of Gamle Oslo in Oslo, Norway. The neighbourhood is in a small valley between Kampen and Vålerenga, on a portion of the land previously occupied by the Nedre Valle farm. The area then became part of the Aker municipality until 1878, when Aker was incorporated into Kristiania (renamed Oslo in 1925). Jordal was known for the Jordal Teglverk brickworks, on the site now occupied by the Jordal Amfi, built as the venue for ice hockey at the 1952 Winter Olympics. The area is served by Ensjø station on the Oslo Metro.

Ensjø is a station on the Oslo Metro located in the borough of Helsfyr. The station is shared by the Østensjø-, Lambertseter- and Furuset Line. It is the first station on the east side after emerging from the downtown Common Tunnel for these lines. The station is located between Tøyen and Helsfyr. Ensjø is mostly a commercial area, with many car dealerships. The station also serves Jordal Amfi, home arena of Vålerenga Ishockey.

Tøyen is a rapid transit station located in the Common Tunnel of Oslo Metro in Norway. Located in the borough of Gamle Oslo, it is also called "Tøyen-Munchmuseet" due to its proximity to the art museum. It is the last station on the east side shared by all lines; the Grorud Line and Ring Line departs from the other four lines at Tøyen. The station has three platforms, on the south side is a platform for all outbound trains. Across the tracks is another for inbound trains coming from Ensjø, and on the other side of this platform is a third one for inbound trains from Carl Berners plass. The station was opened on 22 May 1966 as part of the new metro lines to the eastern boroughs of Oslo. Above the metro station is a shopping centre. Apart from the Munch Museum, there is a park north of the subway station with botanical gardens and paleontological, geological and zoological museums. There is also a railway station, Tøyen Station, that is located on the Gjøvik Line, though this station is located 750 metres (2,460 ft) from the metro station.

The Strømsveien tram fire (Trikkebrannen i Strømsveien) was a railway accident resulting from a fire erupting in an Oslo Tramway car traveling on Strømsveien street in Oslo, Norway.On 2 August 1958, a set of two cars, 194 and 198, of the Gullfisk type was traveling the Lilleaker Line ( Lilleakerbanenen) – Østensjø Line (Østensjøbanen) route from Bøler to Jar. This connection was opened in 1937 and the Gullfisk cars introduced in 1939. As the tram braked as it approached Totengata a technical malfunction caused arcing and a fire erupted in the front of car 198 which was the latter car. The exit door, being operated by the tram driver who was seated in the lead car, remained closed for a few, critical seconds as passengers were struck by panic. The disaster claimed the lives of five people; seventeen were injured. Following the disaster, fire extinguishers, better emergency exits and emergency door openers became mandatory in all public transport.

Tøyen Park (Norwegian: Tøyenparken) is a park in Oslo, Norway. It is located to the north-east of the Munch Museum and neighbours the University of Oslo Botanical Gardens.Tøyen Park is an expanse of grass-covered hills, dotted with clusters of large trees. Like most parks in Oslo, Tøyen Park is a popular recreation area. During summer, groups of people barbecue and fly frisbees, while during winter, tobogganing down the hills is popular. Tøyen Park attracts birdwatchers, where frequently seen birds include the hawfinch. Since 2014, the annual music festival Øyafestivalen has been held here every summer.Tøyenbadet contains indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The water park features a swimming hall and several open-air pools along with a waterslide and sauna. There is an indoor climbing wall. Small children have their own pool. The outdoor pool is open year-round. The park provides a dressing area and shower facilities.
