Faraday House

Victoria House is a neoclassical building in Bloomsbury, London, WC1. It stands on a long rectangular island site between the east side of Bloomsbury Square and Southampton Row. It became a Grade II listed building in December 1990.

Old Devonshire House at 48 Boswell Street, was located between Theobald's Road in Bloomsbury, and Queen Square, London. William Cavendish, 3rd Earl of Devonshire had the house built in 1668 for his son, also called William Cavendish, who was MP for Derby at that time and eventually became the 1st Duke of Devonshire in 1694. This house was later sold by William Cavendish, 3rd Duke of Devonshire, who built Devonshire House in fashionable Piccadilly. Major George Henry Benton Fletcher bought Old Devonshire House in 1932, to display his keyboard collection. He donated the house and his collection to the National Trust in November 1937. The house was destroyed in May 1941 by a Luftwaffe bombing raid on Holborn during the Blitz. Most of his keyboard instruments had been evacuated to Gloucestershire before the raid. These survived and are currently on display in Fenton House, Hampstead.

Sicilian Avenue is a pedestrian shopping parade in Bloomsbury, London, resembling an open air arcade, that diagonally runs in between Southampton Row and Bloomsbury Way. The street was designed by the architect Robert Worley in 1906 (completed in 1910) in a monumental Edwardian style, using Italian marble throughout, colonnades and turrets.The place is well-preserved, and has a number of shops, pavement cafés and restaurants.Above the commercial activities located on the ground floor, five storeys buildings decorated with terracotta bands are occupied by offices (formerly flats). Ionic columns on plinths, carrying the street name in gold characters, have been placed at both the eastern and western entrances of the avenue.Several scenes of the 2018 film The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society were filmed in Sicilian Avenue, as was a scene from the 2017 film Wonder Woman.1–29, 6–20, 25–35 and 35A are listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England. The three lamp posts on Sicilian Avenue are also listed Grade II.

The Central School of Art and Design was a public school of fine and applied arts in London, England. It offered foundation and degree level courses. It was established in 1896 by the London County Council as the Central School of Arts and Crafts. Central became part of the London Institute in 1986, and in 1989 merged with Saint Martin's School of Art to form Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design.

The World Chess Championship 2018 was a match between the reigning world champion since 2013, Magnus Carlsen, and the challenger Fabiano Caruana to determine the World Chess Champion. The 12-game match, organised by FIDE and its commercial partner Agon, was played at The College in Holborn, London, between 9 and 28 November 2018. The games were broadcast on worldchess.com and by NRK. The classical time-control portion of the match ended with 12 consecutive draws, the only time in the history of the world chess championship that all classical games have been drawn. On 28 November, rapid chess was used as a tie-breaker; Carlsen won three consecutive games to retain his title and became four-time world champion.

The Cochrane Theatre, previously known as the Jeanetta Cochrane Theatre, was a receiving and producing theatre situated in Holborn, London, that opened in 1964. It is now used for television filming.

The October Gallery is an art gallery based in central London, established in 1979.The October Gallery has shown the work of artists including El Anatsui, Rachid Koraïchi, Dominique Kouas, Romuald Hazoumè, Nnenna Okore, Laila Shawa and Kenji Yoshida. The gallery has promoted the Transvangarde movement and hosted talks, performances and seminars.

The Poetry Bookshop operated at 35 Devonshire Street (now Boswell Street) in the Bloomsbury district of central London, from 1913 to 1926. It was the brainchild of Harold Monro, and was supported by his moderate income.The Bookshop not only sold, but also published, poetry by living poets. Readers were encouraged to browse, and several poets actually made their home there, including Wilfred Owen, Wilfrid Wilson Gibson and Robert Frost. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the shop's best-sellers were hand-coloured rhyme sheets for children. During World War I, when Monro was serving in the armed forces, the shop was run almost single-handed by his assistant, Alida Klementaski, whom he later married. Among the works published by the Poetry Bookshop were collections by Charlotte Mew and Richard Aldington and the Georgian Poetry series as well as Ezra Pound's seminal 1914 anthology Des Imagistes. Penelope Fitzgerald for quite a few years attempted to interest a publisher in a book on the shop. Her letters reveal the amount of work she did, some of which was useful to her when she wrote her biography of Charlotte Mew.

The Kingsway tramway subway is a cut-and-cover Grade II Listed tunnel in central London, built by the London County Council, and the only one of its kind in Britain. The decision in 1898 to clear slum districts in the Holborn area provided an opportunity to use the new streets for a tramway connecting the lines in the north and south. Following the pattern of tramways in New York (the Murray Hill Tunnel) and Boston (the MBTA Green Line), it was decided to build this as an underground connection.

Bloomsbury Square is a garden square in Bloomsbury, in the London Borough of Camden, London. Developed in the late 17th century, it was initially known as Southampton Square and was one of the earliest London squares. By the early 19th century, Bedford House along the north of the square had been demolished and replaced with terraced housing designed by James Burton.

Northeastern University – London (formerly New College of the Humanities) is a university in London, England. It was founded as a private college by the philosopher A. C. Grayling, who became its first Master. The college, which grants undergraduate and taught master's degrees, is owned by NCH at Northeastern Ltd., a subsidiary of Northeastern University, a private American research university based in Boston, Massachusetts, which acquired the college in February 2019. A year later, in February 2020, NCH at Northeastern Ltd. was granted its own taught degree awarding powers. The college became publicly funded in August 2020. The college specializes in the humanities, social sciences, and master's degrees at the intersection of the humanities and technology. It was awarded university title and changed its name to "Northeastern University – London" after regulatory approval by the Office for Students in July 2022.
