Royal Air Force Wittering or more simply RAF Wittering (ICAO: EGXT) is a Royal Air Force station within the unitary authority area of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and the unitary authority area of North Northamptonshire. Although Stamford in Lincolnshire is the nearest town, the runways of RAF Wittering cross the boundary between Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

Wittering is a village and civil parish in the City of Peterborough unitary authority area in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. The village is about 3 miles (5 km) south of the market town of Stamford in neighbouring Lincolnshire and about 9 miles (14 km) west of Peterborough's urban sprawl.

St Martin's Without is a civil parish in the Peterborough unitary authority, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. It was originally created in 1889 under the Local Government Act 1888 from the part of the Stamford Baron St. Martin parish which was outside the municipal boundary of Stamford. It became part of the Barnack Rural District of the Soke of Peterborough, geographically part of Northamptonshire from 1894, and under the Local Government Act 1972 has formed part of the Peterborough district of Cambridgeshire since 1974. The parish contains parts of Burghley Park.

Burghley House () is a grand sixteenth-century English country house near Stamford, Lincolnshire. It is a leading example of the Elizabethan prodigy house, built and still lived in by the Cecil family and is Grade I listed. The exterior largely retains its Elizabethan appearance, but most of the interiors date from remodellings before 1800. The house is open to the public on a seasonal basis and displays a circuit of grand and richly furnished state apartments. Its park was laid out by Capability Brown.The house is on the boundary of the civil parishes of Barnack and St Martin's Without in the Peterborough unitary authority of Cambridgeshire. It was formerly part of the Soke of Peterborough, an historic area that was traditionally associated with Northamptonshire. It lies 0.9 miles (1.4 km) south of Stamford and 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Peterborough city centre. The house is now run by the Burghley House Preservation Trust, which is controlled by the Cecil family.

Bonemills Hollow is a 17.5-hectare (43-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Wittering in Cambridgeshire.The valley has marsh and Jurassic calcareous grassland areas. The marshland is on the valley floor, and dominant species are lesser pond-sedge and the rushes Juncus articulatus and Juncus inflexus. Areas of scrub and willow carr provide additional habitats for invertebrates and birds.The site is private land with no public access.

Burghley Park Cricket Club is set in the park of Burghley House near Stamford, Lincolnshire. Its pavilion dates from 1892.Lincolnshire County Cricket Club played Minor Counties Championship matches at Burghley Park from 1928 to 1990.John Furley (1847 – 1909) was a club captain. W. G. Grace played at the club early in his career.

Wothorpe Towers are the remains of Wothorpe Hall (also known as Wothorpe Lodge), a late-Elizabethan, early-Jacobean country house in Wothorpe, Cambridgeshire, England. Built for the Cecil family in the early 1600s, the house was occupied for 150 years before it was partially demolished, with only the towers and outer walls surviving. Both are Grade I-listed structures with English Heritage. Wothorpe House has been undergoing renovation since the early 21st century; the ruined towers are a Scheduled Ancient Monument and are being preserved. Wothorpe Towers is about two miles from the town of Stamford, Lincolnshire, and a mile from Burghley House.

Stamford East railway station was the Stamford and Essendine Railway station in Water Street, Stamford, Lincolnshire. The line was worked by the Great Northern Railway but retained its independence until 1886, when the GNR took the line on perpetual lease.

St Martin's Church, Stamford, is a Grade I listed parish church in the Church of England located in Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. The area of the town south of the River Welland was in Northamptonshire until 1889 and is called Stamford Baron or St Martin's.

West, Abbot's and Lound Woods is a 50.4-hectare (125-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Wittering in Cambridgeshire.The site has a variety of woodland types, some of which are rare in Britain, including plateau alderwood. There are ancient woodland plants such as yellow archangel and toothwort.The site is private land with no public access.

Stamford railway station serves the town of Stamford in Lincolnshire, England, and is located in St Martin's. The station is 12.5 miles (20 km) west of Peterborough. It was opened by the Syston and Peterborough Railway, part of the present day Birmingham to Peterborough Line. CrossCountry operate the majority of services as part of their Birmingham to Stansted Airport route. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway The station was formerly known as Stamford Town to distinguish it from the now closed Stamford East station in Water Street. It is often printed on timetables and train tickets as Stamford (Lincs) to distinguish it from either Stamford Hill station in London or Stanford-le-Hope station in Essex. The station building is a fine stone structure in Mock Tudor style, influenced by the nearby Burghley House, and designed by Sancton Wood. It was upgraded to Grade II* listed building status in March 2020.
