Hyde, Greater Manchester

Hyde was a county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1885 until 1918. It was seated in the town of Hyde, Cheshire. From the 1918 general election onwards, the town has been represented in parliament through the constituency of Stalybridge and Hyde.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It was a Commissioners' church, having received a grant towards its construction from the Church Building Commission.

Clarendon Square Shopping Centre is a shopping mall in the town centre of Hyde, Greater Manchester. It holds multiple different retailers including both chain stores and independents, along the town's indoor market hall and outdoor market. The shopping centre opened in 1963 but it has since been redeveloped and renamed. It consists of the main retail mall, the Market Hall, along with additional sections of mall at the eastern-end. It is nearby the other major shopping areas of the town centre, such as Market Place and Market Street, and it is also close to the towns two major supermarkets, Asda and Morrisons.

Hyde Central railway station is the main station serving Hyde, Greater Manchester, England. Originally simply Hyde, it was built by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, opening in 1858 as a branch from its main line through Penistone to Sheffield. From 1862, the branch was extended to New Mills to meet the Midland Railway's extension of its line from Millers Dale. For a while, it saw Midlands expresses from London. In 1875, however, a new more direct route was built through Bredbury. The substantial station buildings were demolished in 1980, with a new booking office at street level commissioned in their place. Hyde is also served by Hyde North, on the same line as Hyde Central, and by Flowery Field, Newton for Hyde and Godley on the electrified Manchester to Glossop/Hadfield line.

Hyde High School is a co-educational secondary school located in the Flowery Field area of Hyde in the English county of Greater Manchester.It is a community school administered by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, and offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils.The school was previously awarded Technology College status, and was named Hyde Technology School for a time before the new school building opened in 2012 as Hyde Community College. In 2020 the school closed its sixth form provision and was renamed Hyde High School. The school continues to expand, with a high demand for school places in the local area.

Ewen Fields in Hyde, Greater Manchester, England, is the home ground of Hyde United F.C. and has also hosted Manchester City Reserves, Manchester United F.C. Reserves, Stockport County Reserves and Oldham Curzon Ladies. The stadium holds 4,250 people, with 530 seats.

Flowery Field railway station serves the Flowery Field area of Hyde, Greater Manchester, England. It is 7 miles (11 km) east of Manchester Piccadilly on the Manchester-Glossop Line. The station is managed by Northern Trains.The station was opened in 1985 and is mainly a wooden structure, similar in design to Godley railway station, which is also on the Glossop Line. The station was opened by British Rail. As part of the failed Manchester TIF bid, the station would have been refurbished with CCTV, real-time passenger information and additional seating and shelters. The bid failed after residents of Greater Manchester voted against the congestion charge. However, funding was secured from Transport for Greater Manchester in 2011, for the installation of CCTV, Customer Information Screens, a Public Announcement System and Help Points.

Newton is an area of Hyde, Greater Manchester, England, which occupies a narrow strip of land from the River Tame near Newton Hall to Matley, between Hyde and Dukinfield. Newton can be divided into four separate parts, working uphill from the river: Newton Green Flowery Field Newton Moor NewtonOn Matley Lane lies the former site of Shaw Hall factory.

Hyde North is a railway station north of Hyde, Greater Manchester, England, operated by Northern Trains. Originally opened as Hyde Junction in February 1863, it was at the junction between the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway extension to New Mills (operated jointly with the Midland Railway as the Sheffield and Midland Railway Companies' Committee) and the MS&L main line through Penistone to Sheffield). For a while it saw the Midland's expresses from London. In 1875, however, a new more direct route was built through Bredbury. On 17 September 1951, the station was renamed Hyde North.
