Elkton Oregon AVA

The Dundee Hills AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in Yamhill County, Oregon. It is entirely contained within the Willamette Valley AVA, and is approximately 28 miles (45 km) southwest of Portland, near the towns of Dundee and Dayton. The area is 6,940 acres (2,809 ha) in total size, with 1,300 acres (526 ha) planted with grapes. The Dundee Hills are a north-south oriented line of hills on the western side of the Willamette River valley. The soil is red in color, rich in iron, relatively infertile, making it suitable for grape cultivation. The region gets 30 inches (76 cm) to 45 inches (114 cm) of rainfall per year. The Chehalem Mountains to the north protect the region from the cool breezes that enter Willamette Valley from the Columbia Gorge. Over 25 wineries and independent vineyards in this region produce over 44,000 cases of wine.

Sokol Blosser Winery is a vineyard, tasting room and winery facility located northeast of Dayton, Oregon in the Red Hills of Dundee in Yamhill County. It was founded by Bill Blosser and Susan Sokol Blosser in 1971 in what is now known as the Dundee Hills AVA. Sokol Blosser Winery is family owned and operated by second-generation co-presidents, siblings Alex and Alison Sokol Blosser, and is the 6th largest wine producer in Oregon. Sokol Blosser is considered to be “synonymous with sustainability,” and produces Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, proprietary blends Evolution White and Evolution Red, a range of other Evolution wines, and small quantities of single block Pinot Noirs, Rosé of Pinot Noir, White Riesling dessert wine, and sparkling wine.

Palmer Creek is a tributary of the Yamhill River in northwestern Oregon in the United States. Arising in Polk County it flows north, crossing almost immediately into Yamhill County. It continues generally north, entering the larger stream at Dayton, 5 miles (8 km) upstream of the Yamhill's confluence with the Willamette River.Its two named tributaries from source to mouth are Holdridge Creek and West Fork Palmer Creek. The main stem passes under Oregon Route 221 in Dayton.Palmer Creek was named after pioneer Joel Palmer; before, it was known as Smith Creek. It flows through private agricultural lands and is highly denuded by residual pesticides. Palmer Creek flows year-round because water from the Willamette River is diverted into the creek so it can be used for irrigation.

The Dr. Stuart House, also known as Verduzco Residence, is a house built in 1887 in Dayton, Oregon. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. A new house was built on the site in 2008.

First Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church building in Dayton, Oregon, United States. The church building was constructed in 1886 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In the mid-2010s, the building was restored and adapted for use as a restaurant.

Courthouse Square Park is a town square occupying one city block in downtown Dayton, Oregon. The 1.8 acres (0.73 ha) urban park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The park contains the historically significant blockhouse or military fortification that was originally located at Fort Yamhill. In 1911, the structure was moved to Dayton from its original site. The land for the park was donated by Joel Palmer and the park was named 'Courthouse Square' as part of an attempt to make Dayton the government seat of Yamhill County. Although Dayton did not become the county seat and no courthouse was ever constructed, the park's name remained. The Park also contains a picnic shelter, grassy areas shaded by Douglas Firs and native oaks, a basketball court, a playground and public restrooms.

Brookside Cemetery is an historic 3.41-acre cemetery in Dayton, Oregon, United States. Joel Palmer set aside land for the cemetery in the 1850s; he deeded the site to the Dayton School District in 1874. 479 people are known to have been buried there between July 1864 and June 1987; there are presently no vacant plots. The cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Paul Londershausen House, at 309 Main Street, Dayton, Oregon, United States, is a Bungalow/Craftsman-style house that was built in 1921. It is also known as the Londershausen Residence or as the Walters Residence and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The house was deemed significant "as one of the best examples of the Craftsman Bungalow style in Dayton, and the best preserved example locally." Its front porch has four turned columns with capitals; its rear porch has been enclosed. It is a 1+1⁄2-story house that is 34 feet (10 m) by 36 feet (11 m) in plan.The house is associated with Germany-born Paul Londerhausen (b.1883), a hops farmer who lived in Dayton for 59 years, who moved into the house in 1921 when it was built. Londerhausen was one of nine children, and one of the five who lived with their father Gottlieb Londershausen in Dayton in 1910 according to the 1910 census. Londerhausen served as a City Councilman and in other city positions.The house is one block away from the NRHP-listed Gottlieb Londershausen House, located at 402 Main Street. Both houses were listed on the NRHP with the same name, Londerhausen House, in 1987.

The Dayton Opera House was an historic opera house located at 318 Ferry Street in Dayton, Oregon, United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 16, 1987. It was destroyed by a fire on December 9, 1993., and was subsequently delisted on July 21, 1998.

The Methodist Episcopal Parsonage (also known as the Marquez Residence) is a historic church parsonage at 202 Fourth Street in Dayton, Oregon. It was built in 1868 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
